Horns to Hold Her Halo
Horns to Hold Her Halo
A long time ago, God created many angels. There were some he loved more than all the others. Lucifer and his sister Lilith were among them. God loved them above all others. Soon, pride began to take hold of Lucifer and he led a revolt in Heaven. God cast Lucifer from Heaven along with the other angels that revolted. Having mercy on Lilith, he gave her a choice; join her brother in hell and be forever fallen from Grace or be both angel and demon, policing those beings that exist to influence humans.

Lilith felt like she had been hit by a truck. She wasn't quite sure what had woken her first, the pounding in her head or her dog breathing on the back of her neck. She opened one eye to see her mastiff pitbull mix Cerberus sitting next to her bed with an almost expectant grin on his face. Lilith groaned and rolled onto her back.
"I suppose you want to go out huh?" she asked turning her head to the side.
Cerberus answered her question with a lick and a large paw to the arm. Lilith heaved herself out of bed nearly tripping over the half-empty Jack Daniels bottle on the floor.
"Ahhh there you are old friend. You gotta help me out...I'm struggling this morning." she sighed gripping the bottle in her hand. She pulled on the first clothing she saw. A black hoodie and some black shorts. She stumbled into the kitchen and flipped the switch on her coffee pot. Cerberus impatiently nudged at her hip as she leaned against the counter.
"Chill dude. Mama needs her coffee."
She poured the black liquid into a mug and poured a shot of Jack in for good measure.
"Hair of the dog...." she muttered under her breath grabbing the leash from a row of hooks by her front door.
Cerberus pushed passed her out into her front yard while she stepped into her worn combat boots not bothering to lace them. She followed Cerberus attaching hid the leash to his black spiked collar before opening the gate. They made their way down the quiet street. It was a gorgeous morning in Seattle. This summer had been perfect so far. It wasn't even 10 and it was already warm and sunny. Cerberus moved quickly for his size. Sometimes Lilith had so jog just to keep up with him. A woman walking toward her moved to the other side of the street upon seeing the amazon like redhead dressed all in black and her large, menacing-looking dog. Lilith smiled to herself. It wasn't the first time someone had done that. She turned the corner to make the loop back to her house when she saw a familiar face standing against a tree.
"A little early for you to be out Leviathan. I didn't think my brother let you out of your cage until after dark."
Cerberus lowered his head and growled at the slender man. Lilith gave a gentle tug of his leash to quiet him.
"Shhh Cerb."
The man sauntered toward her. His black hair looked greasy in the sunlight. He had tied it at the base of his neck giving it an almost slicked back appearance. His suit was expensive. Steely grey satin.
"Your brother wants to see you," he said starting to circle her.
"I'm busy....couldn't he just call?"
Leviathan put his hand on her shoulder.
"You know your brother, he doesn't like to be informal."
Lilith looked up at him. His green eyes were cold and menacing.
"So he sends you to surprise me on my morning walk just to tell me he wants to see me....."
She could tell he was getting impatient. Leviathan hated Lilith and he hated that her brother sent him to deal with her. She knew he got a kick out of it.
"Fine....tell him I will be by later tonight. I have shit to do today."
Leviathan gave an exasperated sigh and turned to walk away. Lilith pulled Cerberus the opposite direction. There would be no long walk this morning. She had things to do and now...less time to do them in.
