Prologue
Every neighbourhood has one. Well, every neighbourhood I've been to has. It's that derelict, abandoned house that creeps all the kids out, that has a wold, over grown garden, that you grew up hearing scary stories about.
My neighbourhood has one of those houses. It's not far from my house, just down on the corner, and I go passed it every day. I usually never think about it, I pass by on my way to and from my classes down at the university. Nothing ever happens there, you know how kids just love making up stories.
Over the last couple of days, though, I have been noticing things. From my bedroom window I can see the house. The last three night in a row I've seen a light on at the back of the house. No one else must be able to see it, though, because I've asked everyone and none of them have seen a thing. None of my friends, or the neighbours from across the street who
have an ever better view of it from across the street.
The light has an ominous feel. I can't shake the feeling that there is someone behind that light watching me.
