Along the Great Divide
**So, I had a review that made me look back at what's been written and kind of think about how to divide things up. For a while I've been just using (----) to separate memories from current actions. I will be changing that to (*-*-*-*-*) to separate them out.
So now MEMORIES = *-*-*-*-*
Current Events = Anything before and after *-*-*-*-*
Thank you for the review!
Along the Great Divide
Chapter 1 – Recuerdame
The pale frame that lay beside him was by far the only person that could keep all of those dark thoughts away. The silvery hair cascaded along his back, onto the dark bed sheets and curling slightly along the fragile cheeks.
Well, Fragile to him at least.
Ludwig stared at Mamoru’s sleeping face, bringing a deathly cold hand to move a bit of hair from his face. Mamoru moved slightly, letting out a little sleepy sigh before settling down again. Smiling slightly, Ludwig brought his lips to touch to the pale one’s temple before getting up and retrieving his long shirt that served as his night clothes temporarily. Treading over to the window, he sat down on the window seating, his back resting against the framing as he stared across the moonlit valley where his former Master’s mansion resided.
He remembered their meeting quite clearly…

“LUDWIG! Ludwig, boy, where are you?!” A voice called out from the entrance to the tunnel, which lead to the underground royal retreat. A safe haven for the Grayharte family.
“C-coming, sirs!”Ludwig called, trotting from around the corner. He was a small boy by that time, looking to be the age of four but was by far more mature than his appearance let on. He didn’t know exactly what he was but only that when the person came to the tunnel, he looked to be twenty or more years older than the last.
“Ramund, sir?”Ludwig said sheepishly, the older man huffing a bit, a bundle in his arms that was sniffling and crying.
“You have another job and this may be the last I come here…”Ramund said, setting the bundle down to reveal a thin, white boy that looked to be on the brink of tears. “His name is Mamoru…You are to care for him for as long as you two remain here….Be that on another note…He will be your only company from here on out.”He said, scrunching his nose a bit at the two.
Ludwig looked up at him with large violet eyes before they finally landed on Mamoru. The boy had quieted down some but had sunk to the floor, holding onto the cloth he had been wrapped in upon arrival. A similar pair glanced up at him before he sniffed and looked back up to the man.
“I wanna go home!” He pleaded. Ramund huffed, turning and pulling the tunnel door shut without another word to the two. Mamoru had gotten up, trying to pry it open to no avail. He sniffed, breaking down again and covering his face with his tiny hands. “I wanna go…I wanna go home…”he wept.
He didn’t know what to do.
Ludwig’s hands hesitated to reach out to see if he was alright…The boy’s trembling made it more like he was afraid of everything. Afraid of the dim light in the refuge, afraid of this strange boy that would now be taking care of him…And most of all, never to see the light of day again.
Getting the courage to venture forth, Ludwig kneeled down and touched Mamoru for the very first time. “Mamoru…It will be okay…Come on, let us go find you some clothes…It gets cold.”He said, helping to raise the boy to his feet. Mamoru was so tiny…probably just the height of a three year old but could speak and say things that would surprise a normal person.
Whatever normal was…

A noise brought Ludwig back to the present, seeing Mamoru sitting up in bed, his long beautiful hair sleep-mussed as well as sex-mussed. It was enticing to see. Smiling, he watched as his lover crossed the room, not caring weather he was naked or not.
“What are you doing up? It isn’t even dawn…”He said sleepily, sitting on the extra space on the window-seat.
“I couldn’t drift off for some reason…”Ludwig answered, moving his legs aside so Mamoru could snuggle up against him though his own body could provide no warmth to the mage.
At least not until he had fed, which he would do at a later time, in their…escapades between silken sheets.
“Were you having a bad dream? Or are you still excited from our rounds back there?”Mamoru chuckled, indicating back to the bed.
“You could say that…but it’s really a little of both. Just some memories from a long, long time ago that have been coming back as of late.”Ludwig answered truthfully, bringing a hand through the strings of pearl hair, his fingers gliding right through it with ease. His cold hand went to rest on Mamoru’s shoulder, giving it a little rub. “Aren’t you cold?”
“I’m as warm as ever. How about you?”The mage asked, his cobalt eyes rising to Ludwig’s violet ones with intrigue.
“That’s a silly question to ask…I’m freezing!”Ludwig said with a laugh. Mamoru joined him, bringing a hand to cover his smile and snuggling up to him with a contented sigh.
“I know…Silly question…”Mamo laughed lightly, bringing himself to sit up, taking Ludwig’s chilly hand to lead him back to bed. “But let us try to warm up a little…before the sun rises at least.”He said, his alluring gaze staring at the half-bred Amestrian man. Ludwig cracked a small smile, moving at a trudging shuffle playfully before joining the pale male on the bed, sliding under the sheets with him.
“What was the memory?”Mamoru asked, looking up at him sweetly.
“A good one…I’ll tell you in the morning…”Ludwig smiled.
“Why not now?”The pale one yawned.
“It would become a bedtime story…”The other laughed softly, bringing his lips to meet the warm forehead of his lover. Getting a small huff in response, Ludwig smiled and brought the covers around them more, relaxing at last as he heard Mamoru’s soft breathing. It would be a long time before he himself would finally sleep.
