Dangerous Love: Character Descriptions

GREGORY SHVERNIK - Gregory doesn’t fit the typical Russian image. Tall (6'3") and thin, Gregory is well built and strong. He has pale skin from being up north in Russia for so long, but has stunning golden blonde hair and ice-blue eyes. He is 28 years of age. Gregory, like the rest of the Neo-Bolsheviks wear uniforms, which are designed after the Nazi Oberfchatfuhrer uniforms from WWII, With minor changes. Some obvious changes are the fact that the pants do not puff out at the thighs, but rather are tighter around the legs to reduce noise. There is no leather strap that comes around the torso to attach to the belt, and no swastika band around the arm. Other minor changes to the uniform are the trinkets and symbols throughout, those being of the USSR instead of Mother Russia. Lastly, the uniforms come in two colors: Black for commanders and leaders, and dark green for media workers and guards. Anyone else wears civilian clothing.

Though not fitting the Russian image, Gregory fits the leader’s image perfectly. Cold and ruthless, Gregory refuses to take no for an answer, which usually results in the death of whoever he is speaking and/or dealing with. This is fueled for his complete and utter hatred of America, because of the death of his family. He believes that by bringing the USSR back, they would have the manpower and military power to start war against America and finish off the current superpower. Everything he does, from helping Al Qaeda and other terroristic sanctions to commanding his own men, are all in efforts to get his revenge against the American military and people.

Back in 1986, during covert operations, the American CIA had developed a list of people around the world that were considered a threat to American intelligence. Most of the people were from the Cold War, including Peter Shvernik, Gregory’s father. Under orders by the CIA, special operations platoons across the world were to eliminate the people on the list, to save American intelligence. Gregory had been over at a friend’s home when his family was slaughtered, leaving him alone in the world at age 7. Because of this, Gregory grew up with the upmost hatred for anyone with an American background, and vowed to take revenge for his family.

MARK SANCHEZ - Mark is your typical Hispanic male. Reaching heights of 5'5", Mark is a first generation American, and the second male in his family to be in the military, following his father. Mark was one of the few picked to represent the state of California in the Air Force Academy. Spending four years there and graduating with the rank of Second Lieutenant, Mark spent a year training in Special Operations before finally being qualified to lead his own men in the command. He has been named the youngest qualified USAF SpecOps commander in the history of the 353rd Special Operations group, commanding the group at the age of 25. With dark tan skin, jet black hair and eyes to match, Mark is an instant favorite with the women on base. He has a fiancé in Lost Angeles, but hasn’t seen her since his deployment to Kadena AB.

Mark isn’t your typical commanding officer. While he can be harsh and does have a temper, Mark tends to take on the ideas of who he’s leading before making a decision. He wants what’s best for his men, but also what makes them feel safe. Their line of work is a dangerous one, and just because they’re in danger doesn’t mean they have to fear it. Mark is also very laid back, and normally has a smile on his face unless the circumstances doesn’t allow it.

Because of the fact that he is a first generation American, Mark is bilingual, speaking both Spanish and English and being the translator for his extended family when they come to visit. His father and mother came to America when she was pregnant with Mark, and were smart enough to become naturalized Americans unlike most of their friends. Juanito Sanchez, Mark’s father, joined the U.S. Army just after Mark was born, giving Mark the chance to live the life as a military child rather than a normal civilian. Both parents are still alive, and when Mark returns back to America, he tries to visit as often as possible.
