Chapter 1: A New Life
The moon cast sliver shadows over the dark house, a house made to look full of wealth, a house that looked full of secrets. You would never guess by looking at the silver entrance gates that a broken family lived inside held together only by image and money. A family of one dead mother who left pain in her leaving…seven siblings who rely on each other for comfort…and a father who’s forgotten how to love his children. But if you watch closely you can see the black cloud that plagues the manor with sorrow and a desperate daughter wishing for escape.

Slipping slowly out the back door was a tall slim female looks up at the moon. Her blue curls glistening with silver, cascading like water down to her elbows. She looks back, honey brown eyes full of tears and defiance. She prayed her brothers would understand, prayed they wouldn’t come looking, she didn’t want to be found.
“I will not be your pawn father.” She whispered before scaling the stone wall, suddenly something grabbed her ankle.
“Where do you think you’re going?” A tall man with blond hair asked with a raised eyebrow, Sadie sneered at her eldest brother.
“Let go of me Deacon, I have to get out of here, I won’t let father control my life.” She replied and pulled her ankle away, but Deacon held on with a firm grip.
“What about school?”
“I’ll still go, please Deak, please, I can’t stay when he’s trying to make me something I don’t wish to be!” Deacon looked at her with understanding and dropped her ankle and Sadie started to climb again, scraping her knee and ripping her jeans.
“Ok, but don’t think we won’t try to find you.”
“Go ahead and try, but remember I was always champion of hide and seek. Say goodbye to Tommy, he won’t understand.” She replied stradling the wall and with a sad smile she dropped over the other side. Sadie turned back to the wall, and put her palm against it.
“Goodbye Sadie, I hope you have a great adventure.” Deacon whispered to the moon, before heading back towards the house.

Sadie had been walking for days, sleeping on the street; her feet ached in her knee high corset boots. She now found herself in a park; she looked at her reflection in the water of the fountain, she was a mess, her hair unbrushed, her face dirty, clothing rumpled and smelly. She splashed her face with water in attempts to make it slightly less appalling. She looked up thinking she saw someone watching her, shaking her head she walked away from the fountain running her wet hands over her stained jeans.
She sat down on a bench, and looked up at the sky. Her body felt weak, she hadn’t eaten since she left the Manor. She pushed her dirty blue curls out of her eyes and stood again. She had to keep moving it would be dark soon and she had to find a place to sleep.

She was headed down an empty street no luck of finding a place for the night. Soon five rough looking guys started to follow her. Sadie’s heart started racing and she began to walk faster. She tried cutting through a backyard to loose them, but they were swift and fast and apparently, unlike Sadie, knew the area. She suddenly confronted three more when she entered the alley.
“Hey baby, where you headed?” One said, Sadie’s head was begun swimming, as she tried to think of what to do, she felt faint. One boy, who looked like the leader, tried to grab her but she quickly dodged out of the way.
“Go away.” She said angrily, her temper flaring, she wheeled around only managing to make her head swim more.
“Not without you, what’s a pretty thing like you doing on the streets?”
“None of your bloody business.”
“Oh, feisty.” The leader said before trying to grab her again. Sadie vision blurred as another figure appeared.
“Hey, lay off her, Fang.” The newcomer said, Fang let go of her.
“What are you ganna do about it?” Just then twenty more people appeared. Sadie felt her self loosing consciousness, she dropped to her knees. Someone grabbed her waist and lifted her up.
“Come on; let’s get you some where safe.” A soft voice said to her, as she blacked out.

Sadie awoke feeling achy and groggy, she soon remembered the night before, but it didn’t feel like she was still laying on the street, or any place unpleasant. She opened her eyes slowly to find herself lying on a mattress on the floor. Sunlight pouring over the blue sheet tangled around her body. Sadie stretched and her legs felt unusually cold, she looked down.
“Holy Shit!” She said seeing that she was wearing was a large tee shirt, she checked down her shirt…and let out a sigh of relief to see her bra and underwear were still on. She stood slowly, her legs still ached from days of walking, and looked around the room; it was small but comfortable, with a dresser, a floor lamp and a door that connected to a small bathroom. Her boots lay on the floor in front of a second door (probably the closet) along with her duffel bag.
Sadie stepped into the bathroom, and splashed some water over her face then looking up in the mirror she scowled. She was a total wreck, she looked longingly at the shower but decided against it on the fact she didn’t know where she was and she had no clean clothing. So she decided to find out where she was.
Sadie stepped out of the small bed room into a spacious loft, she peaked out the window, she was still in London. She did a full 360 of the apartment, there was a second bedroom, and a neat little kitchen, the front door, a few couches, a desk and a great stereo system.
“Good to see you finally awake, Blue” came a voice from behind her. Sadie spun around to see a tall nicely muscled male, around 18 years, with dirty blond hair and green eyes. Sadie stood up straight, this wasn’t ‘Fang’ the boy who tried to kidnap her. Wait did he call her ‘blue’?
“Are you hungry?” The boy asked heading for the kitchen, Sadie suddenly recognized the voice, and it was the one she heard before she blacked out. Sadie walked slowly towards the kitchen area. She wasn’t sure she should trust this stranger…but she didn’t feel like she was in any danger. She mentally cursed when she remembered her knife was in her bag.
“Do you talk? Or are you deaf?” the boy said, “Look my name is Jaxs, and well from the way things went last night I’m going to guess you’re not from around here.” Jaxs said pouring a cup of coffee. Sadie looked at him and shook her head. Her eyes trailed over Jaxs body, as he pulled creamer from the fridge. Sadie smirked, her hero was definitely yummy.
“No I’m not. My name is Sadine, but I prefer Sadie.”
“Ah, she speaks, well Sadie…” Jaxs replied walking around the counter and standing next to her, “I prefer Blue, it this natural or what?” he said fingering her hair. Sadie took a step back, she didn’t like being that close to him.
“No, it’s dyed,” She replied taking a seat on one of the bar stools, “Thanks for…um…getting rid of that guy.”
“Oh, Fang, no problem, he’s a real asshole. I don’t know how The Strikes deal with him.”
“The who?”
“Oh, I didn’t explain that part,” Jaxs ran a hand through his hair and looked like he was trying to figure out a way to explain it to her, “Well, basically the Strikes are the West London gang, Fang is their leader. And The Diablo Brotherhood in the East London gang, and…” he paused for a moment, “I am the leader.”
Sadie stared at him for a moment, trying to process, what he’d just told her. She was in the apartment of a gang leader…what the hell had she gotten herself into? Sadie stood up and headed towards the room she’d woken up in.
“Hey, Blue, you ok?” Jaxs said following her, “Look, it’s not only a gang, it’s a family, we’re all runaways, and we look out for each others backs.”
Sadie spun around, “A gang? That means guns, drugs, fights, illegal activities. I am the daughter of a Lord…I can’t be part of this.” Staring at him, and then went back to rummaging through her bag, for anything slightly wearable.
“That’s all image mostly,” he said sitting down on the mattress, “Blue, if you’re thinking about leaving, trust me, you got a better chance sticking with the Brotherhood, then you do alone on the streets. I won’t lie and say it’s still not dangerous, but at least here someone’s got you’re back and you’ll get a weapon. Here’s my offer, Blue, stay here and I can promise you safety, see what it’s like living with a gang, if you like it join, if you don’t I’ll let you leave freely.”
Sadie looked at him, analyzing the situation, she thought back to the past couple days, it was hell. At least here she’d have a bed, a shower, and food. Plus she could really piss off her father; hanging with a gang would be the perfect opposite of what he wanted her to be. Jaxs smiled at her and held out his hand. Sadie hesitated for a moment, and then took it and the shook.
“Ok, but if I don’t like it I’m outta here!” Sadie said and stood; “Now I would like some clothing please.”
“We’ll go down and talk to the girls.” Jaxs replied and helped her up, guiding her towards the front door, their hands still locked together.
