Cutting Love
A/N: This story is rated mature for several reasons. One obvious one being the cutting in the first chapter. Also, this story will include a girl/girl relationship. I don’t have a beta at the moment, so if anyone could help, I’d love them forever.
“Hello? Anybody home?” Aurora walks into the house and calls out for her friend, “Alex? Where are you?” her ex lover, Alex, had called her earlier and practically begged her to come over. And now that the brunette was here, Alex was nowhere to be seen. Suddenly, Aurora hears a faint sobbing sound coming from the upstairs, and hurriedly drops her things and runs up the stairs. ‘Oh god. Please, not again! She swore she’d quit!’ her panicked thoughts run through her head.
She follows the sound to a bathroom, and cautiously knocks on the door, “Alex? Alex its Aurora! Can you open the door for me?” When all she hears is more sobbing, she gently pushes on the door, and gasps at what she sees. Sitting on the cool tile, is a crying Alex. But what shocks Aurora the most is the puddle of blood around the blonde woman. “Oh god, what’s happened to you?” she cries quietly to herself, “Where is the girl I used to know?” Aurora sees the knife still clutched in her friend’s hand, and gently takes it away. The hand follows the knife and tries to take it back, to no avail.
Aurora embraces her ex in a tight hug, and holds her until the sobbing subsides. She catches a glimpse of the bloodied arms, and sighs in relief that the cuts are not deep enough, nor are they in the right places to be deadly. Alex isn’t trying to kill herself. When the she feels the woman in her arms begin to relax, she pulls back and stares into her bloodshot eyes. What she sees makes her heart drop. The normally soulful, calming green-gray eyes are now dull. As if all the joy of life has been drained from them.
The brunette moves away slightly, grabs the bandages from the cupboard, and bandages up the fresh wounds. Once they are covered, she helps Alex to the bedroom, and puts her to bed. Just as she is about to leave, she hears a small voice coming from the bed, “stay.”
“What?”
“I said,” Alex says a little louder, “Please stay.”
“You know that I can’t do that.”
“Why not?”
“Because I’m not going to risk our friendship to sleep with you.”
“Please,’ Alex pleads, “you can sleep on the other side of the bed, and you can leave before I wake up. But I can’t be alone tonight. I’m afraid to be alone tonight. So please, just stay. Just this once, ‘Rora. You know that I won’t try anything.”
“Ok, but just this once. We already have a rocky enough relationship, you know that.” Aurora makes her way back to the bed, and lays down on the side opposite her friend. The two fall asleep in minutes, content with each other’s company.
