The Vault of Ages
The black eyed Maiden of chaos was banished into the Land of Chaos. She threw the doors of her chamber open and stormed from them. Kaire was angered greatly. HOW could That little Prat of a girl Take him first! She trembled with anger.
“This is far from over.“
Kaire leaned over a viewing pool and called her powers to her. Her cold stare penetrated the black waters of the pool and she concentrated on whom she wished to see. She wanted to see what her enemies were doing. More specifically, she wanted to see what Corinthia’s new queen was up to.
“Well, well my dear. There you are.” She glared into the black waters as Serenity’s image showed more clearly. “Don’t you just look all pretty.”
Her hand snapped a small, insignificant stirring wand in half just from looking at the girl. She had never hated someone so much in her life! How could Kristian do this to her? After everything she did for that poor excuse of a king?! She screamed and splashed her hand into the water. Serenity’s image rippled but did not fade.
She was still happily smiling and walking beside Silvan down a long hall. The symbol of a face on the door made Kaire’s anger pause. It had one green eye and one silver but it was not the goddess. This was a mans face. In fact this was the symbol for the God of Ages. This was the very symbol retired King Tamin wore on his armour.
“Trying to finish the prophecy are we? Trying to join the lands back into one being and heal the pathways? Oh my naughty little king. “
She shook her head and continued to watch. Silvan and Serenity approached the sealed vault doors with the face slowly. Silvan had to take a deep, calming breath. The last time his father tried to open the vault he was blown back by an unseen force. Tamin wasn’t hurt but that still made Silvan anxious.
“Stand back my lady love.”
“Silvan I won’t be hurt. Open it.” Serenity nudged him forward. “You can do this, remember? The goddess said you were the one.”
“Yes but what if she really was wrong?” Silvan turned to look at his lovely new queen. Her white hair was curled into a rather cute up do. She wore a beautiful purple dress. This was Silvan’s favourite colour and oh how she sparkled in it. “ What if... Maybe it really is supposed to be our child or something?”
“Silvan you have to try and besides we were just married and I know I am not pregnant.” She smiled. Serenity held his hand lightly. “You are the one who can open it. Remember what Veleska said when she woke up? You have become the third king. Besides I am here with you. So have a little faith love.”
“You aren’t pregnant yet but you will be.” Silvan leaned forward and kissed his bride lovingly. “We will have children and they will inherit a whole Corinthia.”
“Yes we will my love but if you don’t open the door then you can’t get the staff and reunite the lands, now can you?”
“All right, all right.” He chuckled and wrapped his arms around her. “I’ll have you with me though. Without you none of this could ever be possible.” Silvan let his hand trail upwards and caress her cheek.
“OH get on with it!” Kaire yelled at the waters. “Stop loving on that... That girl and get on with it!”
It was as if Kaire were preparing her self for the very thing she did not want; if the lands rejoined than the middle lands of Chaos would be lost into one world joined. Although it did look silly for anyone who saw her. She was yelling at a viewing pool and knew full well they could not hear her. Still she yelled. Still she continued to watch Her lands' fate end with the simple unlocking of a door.
“Here goes everything.” Silvan pulled one hand from Serenity’s side and placed it to the symbol on the door. Serenity tensed only slightly. Silvan held her yet closer. “I, King Silvan Demetrious of Corinthia, Command you to open. I bid thee grant me and my queen entrance into the vault of ages where your staff awaits to rejoin all our people and heal the lands.”
The doors were opening! The symbol of ages split and the doors slid into the walls slowly. Silvan’s hand pulled from the moving walls and he stepped back. The entrance to the vault was large. It spanned the entire width of the corridor.
“Silvan...” Serenity gasped. Her pupil-less eyes were fixed on the golden and silver glow that emitted from inside the vault. “Look at all of it.”
There was so much silver and gold treasure it stacked to the ceiling of the high vault. Silvan was wide eyed. He had never seen so much treasure in his life time and he was the son of a king.
“It is... Amazing.” Silvan looked at Serenity and smiled. “It’s beauty could not compare to you though.”
“You flirt. Come on, lets go find the staff.”
“Very well but I’ll still be your flirt.”
He chuckled and lead her inside the vault. Silvan looked around a pile of golden armoured pieces for any clue of a trail. Serenity peeked around a separate pile of silks. It did not seem possible that this vault could be so vast but the different trails were endless. It was definitely magic.
“Which way do we go Silvan?”
“I’m not sure love.”
His silver eyes caught glance of a small, insignificant wooden marker on a wall. Serenity followed his gaze and smiled. The wooden marker was a carved piece that pictured a bowing man on it. Silvan felt his every gut instinct inside tell him that was the way. Serenity had to agree.
“Do you think...”
She didn’t even get to finish her question before he guided her to the marker. There wasn’t an opening behind it as Silvan thought there might be. Confusion masked his face. Serenity turned to look at the other open path ways. They had golden pieces marking the entrance way. Could this all be a trick?
“ I don’t understand. Everything inside me tells me this is the way.”
Silvan touched the wooden marker and pulled. Maybe there was a switch or something to activate a door. Serenity held on to his hand a little tighter. She had no idea what to expect next. Neither did Silvan really. He pulled his hand away in frustration. Silvan had no clue what to do now. He sighed and hugged Serenity to him. Silvan wrapped his cloak around her and leaned up against the wall.
“I’m sorry love.”
“Don’t be love. It’s not your fault.” She nuzzled in close to him. “We will find it together. No one expects us to know right where its at anyways.” Serenity smiled. “So don’t give u..UPP!!”
The floor fell beneath them. Silvan pulled his wife’s figure back close to him. If they were to land roughly on a floor below them, it would be he who took the brunt of it.
“Don’t fall and break your pretty little legs.” kaire said spitefully as she watched the viewing pool. “This is so over dramatised. Ohhh... Great god of ages help us” She sneered half sarcastically. “Just get there already.” She was certainly in a hurry for them to find the staff, wasn’t she?
They didn’t land roughly to her dismay. Silvan felt a very soft cushion of air catch them. Serenity blinked her closed eyes open. Wait? It was supposed to hurt when you fell wasn’t it?
“Silvan?”
The room was dark around them. You couldn’t see barely a foot in front of them selves. Serenity grabbed onto him more tightly than before. She had experienced darkness like this when she was blinded. She did not like it one bit.
“It will be okay love. I think this is the right way. We just need to trust in our feelings.” Silvan picked her up in his arms. “Do you trust me?”
“Of course I do Silvan. Don’t be silly.”
With her words, torches suddenly lit up along a long hall way. They could not see the doors at the end of it. It was so long that it took at least forty torches spanning four feet apart from one another to go down the entire length.
“You know...” Serenity shook her head. “For some reason I am reminded of a dungeon crawl out of one of my Rps I used to do back home. Than again this whole thing has been like that so I probably shouldn’t be surprised, should I?”
“Probably not love.” Silvan chuckled.
“What’s so funny?”
“Nothing Serenity. I am just thinking that’s all.”
Silvan started to walk now. Serenity was still held in his arms.
“Thinking about what?”
Serenity let her arms wrap around him more as she shifted. She didn’t mind being carried by him one bit. Silvan didn’t mind either. He would never let go of her if given the choice.
“Just how you make me smile , even in the dimmest of situations. That’s all love.” Silvan finally let her feet touch the ground and he kissed her gently. “And how much I love you of course.”
“Of course...” She whispered. Serenity kissing him back. She giggled and pressed her self closer to him. These two were each others worst distractions. Kaire, the maiden of Chaos, came to this conclusion. In her frustration she slapped the black waters images again with her hand and splashed it outwards.
“OH get over it!”
She didn’t want to see them doing this! Not when she believed Silvan was supposed to be hers. Serenity and Silvan couldn’t hear this of course. He pulled away from the kiss and smiled. His fingers brushed over her cheek adoringly. She was his goddess.
“This is sickening.” Kaire turned to actually stop watching but she stopped. Her eyes saw the silver glow behind the sappy couple getting brighter and brighter. “That’s interesting though.”
“Silvan?”
Serenity got shivers up her spine. Silvan nodded to her and stared at the glowing figure that was walking towards them. It was a small child. She could not of been more than seven. Serenity turned to look at what Silvan was watching, or rather, whom. She was a beautiful little girl. Her hair was in pig tail braids and it was as white as pure, fresh fallen snow. Her skin was paled and her eyes were jade green with silver edging the pupil. The white of her eyes only made them stand out. On her head she wore a small silver crown.
“Who?” Silvan blinked. She walked right through walls? “Who are you?”
Serenity got that eerie feeling inside. The one where you swear you know someone but you just can’t place how you know them. She was left speechless at the girls site.
“What you seek is not here.” The child spoke up. Her hand motioned to the wall and it slid open slowly. “When king Marcus disappeared the people of chaos came and took it away to their lands.”
“The...” Serenity managed to speak. “How... I thought... Only... I mean...”
Well this prophecy just went from making no sense to damned confusing and frustrating all of the sudden. Kaire raised a brow and she leaned closer to the black waters. This was news to her. The people of chaos?
“No more.”
The little girl looked up. This only proceeded to confuse Silvan and Serenity further. Kaire caught the jest of it though. She screamed and fell back. She grunted as she wiped her face off with her robes sleeve. The black waters had sprayed her and caused some feelings of indignity.
“What?” Silvan took a few breaths. “What do you mean? We can’t get the staff now?”
“I did not say that king Silvan.” The girl smiled and looked up. “I simply said that the people of chaos came and took it. What you choose to do with that information is on your own head.” She backed away from them.
“Who are you?” Serenity blurted the question out.
“That answer is best left for another time. I must go.”
The girls form wavered and disappeared into silver vapours. Serenity stepped forward to stop her but she was too late. Silvan shook his head and sighed.
“Im sorry love. I..” Serenity bit her lip. “I couldn’t stop her.”
“It’s not that love.”
Silvan smiled and pulled her back to him. Serenity chuckled and looked up at him.
“Than what is it?”
“I’m just thinking about how were going to actually get out of here now because I don’t think I know how to fall upwards.” He smirked and kissed her forehead. “Do you?”
“Oh Silvan. You’re positively impossible sometimes.”
Serenity grinned. Silvan nodded in agreement to this. It was true. He liked being difficult.
“I guess we will just have to find a way out hmm?”
“Lets go.” Serenity pulled him along gently. “You silly.”
“Yes my queen.”
He chuckled. Silvan and Serenity moved back the way they had come from. They now had bigger things to deal with. The staff was gone. It was in the Middle Lands of Chaos but the strange girl neglected to say where in the middle lands and who had it.
“Oh well.”
Serenity grinned as they walked.
“What that my angel?”
“Looks like its time for another adventure love.”
