Chapter 1:
The Change

The sun fell behind the mountains covering the sky with a dark blue blanket that held shimmering stars over the country side. Owls hooted and most of the forest critters were already fast asleep, the rustling sound of someone walking was heard. A trail of blood followed to a limping woman who was coated in blood, sweat, and grime. Her brown hair was mated with sweat and blood that stuck to her pale scarred skin. Her blue eyes were dull a gloss of near death lay upon them, she was dying, but her mind was still alive, her heart though felt like it would explode in her chest. It was her body that was ready to die. Her hand jumped out gripping a high tree branch over head as she slumped against it’s rough bark. Her eyes closed and she fell forward her body meeting the earth and she passed out. The faintest sounds were the only sign that she was still alive.

Her body felt so cold that it burned inside.

~*~*~

A room with only a lighted lamp hung above blocking out all of those that sat at the round steal table. There had to be at least eleven people, all of which were in fury of some sort.

“The results are as this . . . . she’s dying, the odd thing about it though is that only her mind is still living,” a file is thrown day showing in the results of his tests.

The file is picked up by a black gloved hand smoke rolling out into the only light.

“Then fix it, we don’t pay you to do nothing!” The voice hissed out slamming down the results.

“It is very difficult, but there may be a chance. It hasn’t been tested though so we don’t know if they’ll be able to come out of this in tacked,” soft mummers began to quickly pop in the man who had thrown down the fil slammed his fist into the steal table denting it.

“Just do it! She is our best assassin and I will not have some scientist tell me otherwise!! It will be done and she had better come out of it alive!” With the words spoken everyone left leaving the scientist along in the room. The soft smoke still lingering about the room. His hands shook as he placed them upon the table.

He left the room as well, but not the way that the other’s did. A long hallway greeted him, lights of soft green and blue atoned the hallway. Taking off his badge he placed it against a scanner beeping him in the doors slid open. A young woman no more then twenty -two wrapped in bandages was floating in a cylinder tank, a mask for oxygen was wrapped around her mouth and face. Beside the tank was a heart monitor, her heart and her body began to slip into death, the scientist looked up at the female one last time, his hand going over to where her cheek was and sighed in sadness.

“Please . . . . . forgive me Ayna, please.”

~*~*~

Her head was killing her, her body felt so tired and weak. Her hand coming up to her head she brushed her forehead with her fingers. Her eyes snapped and she looked down at her naked body.

“Ayna, good your awake. How are you feeling?” The scientist walked up to the tank grinning at her, taking in his look, the scientist was male between his mid twenties early thirties. His long black hair was pulled back into a ponytail that hung down to the middle of his back. Black bangs hid over one of his brown eyes that were framed with a pair of thin squared glasses. A white lab coat, a light blue button down long sleeve shirt covered the upper half of the thin tall pale frame.

The badge that was clipped to his lab coat read. A. Mata, blue eyes narrowed in the tank of the young assassin.

“God damn-it Mata! What in the name of fuck have you done to me!” She yelled out through the mask on her face. Fists clenched to her sides as she looked down at Mata.

“Calm yourself Ayna. It was the only way we could save you,” he replied pushing his glasses up the bridge of his nose.

Her blue eyes narrowed at him.

“Only way my ass! I am not they’re fucking genie-pig Mata I am an assassin, raised as one and will die as one! Why don’t they have that information shoved through their asses’ and up to their idiotic minds?!” She shouted out squirming in the tank making the serum in the tank slouch about in her fury.

“Damn-it Ayna! Control your temper . . . . . now listen up as soon as your are one-hundred percent back to your full strength they have another job for you,” Mata replied smiling up at her. Ayna calmed down.

“. . . . . alright, I’m listening to you,” she replied. You could almost hear the smirk in her voice. “But first,” she said looking down at her new body, her hands running over her flat chest and stomach and her newly acquired male genitals. “Why the hell did you give me a male body? And for that mater how?”

Mata blushed quite furiously making himself cough and turn his back to the male assassin.

“Uhm, let’s not go into those details yet Ayna. You need to focus on your new assignment,” Mata quickly said grabbing the document of Ayna’s new target.

Looking or scanning the paper’s that were pushed up against his tank a blonde eyebrow was raised in curiosity. “Your kidding right?”

“I wish it was that easy Ayna. But no one said that this job was not going to have it’s bad moments as well as it’s good moments,” Mata replied taking away the file and tossing it onto the table, a picture of a young boy could be seen in the dimming light. Soft light brown hair and sparkling hazel eyes could be seen with a shy looking smile, the name Taki Yamatoshi printed in bold letters was attached to the picture.
