Chapter One

The blaring lights faded behind him, just as the pounding rhythm, as the exiting figure shut the steel-plated door easily and gave a passing glance over the crowd gathered that night. Ashi Tekieri, at age twenty-two, stood five foot six, with lightly waved, short-cut pinkish-violet hair, and smooth, heart-shaped features. His most noticeable attribute, his ears, matched those of a rabbit, long and white, standing about a foot up from his head. A full blood Albicean (white rabbit in the immortal tongue), by any standard.

Despite this almost angelical or childlike appearance, his dress gave all different signals. For mid-October, the air kept surprisingly cool, yet his attire gave no leave to the weather. Dark, tight leather clung appealingly to slender legs and hugged neatly to his hips, while a high-cut, neatly fit black top revealed almost half his stomach, gracefully flat and toned with the simple delicacy the rest of his form gave off.

Seemingly unabashed by the cold, oval, lavender tinted vision scanned over the outside faces with mild disinterest, new and old alike. Finally, he frowned slightly at the continued absence of a specific character, and turned to a boy beside him, likely not over fifteen in age but matching his own height and build. “Lan. Have you seen Tiejal lately?” The boy shook his head.

“Not since last Friday...he been missing a lot recently in fact....” Ashi frowned at the news, not good in a neighborhood like this, especially with the risks the other boy took. “You worried, Shi?” He questioned almost nervously at the other’s look.

Despite his slender form and natural femininity, the other boys often turned to Ashi for advice and decisions. Of all there, male and female, the albiri was one of the longest term visitors and most used to routines.

Tiejal only turned up about a month ago, worried and new, but Ashi had immediately deemed him to innocent for the job. Quiet, tentative, he wouldn't have been surprised if the boy were a blushing virgin that first day. Despite this though, the boy held through, picking up near every night and coming back safe each time, but he never bargained, going with the first runner-up regardless of appearance. This, in itself, worried Shi, and he nodded briefly.

Some partners came dangerous, and if one didn’t use even some sense, just anyone off the street with a large enough wallet could cause serious damage. With no word from anyone, he honestly hoped Tiejal had merely resolved his money problems, and not fallen into the wrong hands as he feared.

Sighing, he pushed away thoughts of other’s troubles from his mind and re-settled his focus on the night at hand, moving over to his usual corner by habit. He settled up against the firm brick as comfortably as possible. Tuesday, likely not to busy, so he prepared for a long wait.

A holler from across the street got his attention up from fading off though and he gave a small chuckle at the source. “What do’ya thin’, rabbit? Ya up for me tonigh’?”

Shi grinned and shook his head to the same question he’d recieved nearly every night since his acquaintance with the man. “Not tonight, Boj! I’m afraid I’m busy!”

“Ah...” The man waved his hand in defeat. “...couldn’t afford you anyway. You gotta be worth millions now, right?”

Ashi chuckled as he bent in his pocket to find a smoke. “I wish!”

“Ain’t you rich enough yet?” The man questioned but the albiri shook his head.

“Gettin’ the money’s half the thrill!”

“Kids...that stuff’ll kill you you know...” He mumbled, watching with dissatisfaction as Ashi lit up and placed the strip in his mouth. Only rarely did he show it, but Boj had a more parental aspect towards the smaller man than anything else. He’d inhabited the alleyway across from the ‘Black Rose’ since before Shi’d even come to work, and the older hobo never missed a day.

Shi shook his head lightly with quiet laughter. “Now wouldn’t that be a shame...” His words came soft, unheard by the other, far out of earshot, but almost lost for a brief instant as his mind drifted. The rattle of an engine startled him quickly out of this daze though, and he looked up in surprise. This early? On a weekday?

He frowned at the long black vehicle, toned and obviously new as a dark, tinted window lowered slowly. A limousine. In this area? Not unheard of, but rare unless on a weekend day. The people with the biggest wallets tended to worry less about the health of who they paid for though, and figured if they paid enough, it didn’t matter if their attendant came out alive.

It was a slow night though, and he couldn’t assure another chance, especially not such a big payer, so, after little debate, he stepped forward, leaning lightly against the window frame with practiced ease. “Anything I can do for you tonight, sir?” He questioned fluidly, his tone easy and calm.

The man inside gave a small smile, not hiding in the least his obvious visual onslaught of the form before him, gracing his eyes over each visible feature appraisingly. Shi didn’t mind, quite used to it after his years in service, and simply waited for the other’s approval. Shortly after, the man nodded his acceptance.

“You’ll do. Get in.” Ashi placed out a hand which the man quickly filled with a wad of bills and he safely tucked it away, not bothering to count before he entered. He’d grown to trust fancy suits for their dependancy in pay.

Slipping in easily, he landed instantly in the man’s lap and the other turned him to face him, motioning the driver distractedly to move on to some obviously pre-agreed upon spot. “So, what do I call you, rabbit?” The man questioned, running a hand smoothly up a single silky ear, and reveling at the feel. Ashi liked him instantly. At least he had some class.

“Anything you want, sir.” The man hadn’t already ripped his clothes off, and he wanted a name, two very good starts. The man smiled at his statement.

“Respect. Good. Tell me then...what is you name?”

“Ashi.”

He looked curious, but pleased, testing the name carefully over his tongue. “Shi...lovely.” His hand landed at the back of his neck and Shi took the clue as he pulled him forward, their lips meeting with reasonable force, but little urgency. The man wanted to take his time.

Shi noted tobacco and a hint of alcohol, though not enough to make him drunk, probably not a heavy drinker, another good sign. “What all do your services include, Ashi?” He questioned, and the albiri replied easily, used to the question.

“You can play rough...so long as I don’t come out with bodily injuries.” He left the answer more open than he would with some. In certain cases ‘playing rough’ could mean broken bones, but he already trusted this man enough to not worry to much about how he’d handle his body. The man chuckled.

“You just get better and better, don’t you, sweet?” At his silence he laughed, smiling as the vehicle stopped and opening the door. “Here we are, little one. About time...” Easing the smaller out first, the suited man followed shortly after and lead Ashi calmly to the steps, though not hiding a pressing insistence in his stride.

Through his days on the job, Ashi had followed many men to many different rooms, apartments, condo’s, and all sorts of establishments, and by now payed little attention to the scenery, focusing all attention to the task at hand. The man, who Ashi noted he had yet to get the name of, lead him to a reasonably well furnished room, nicely done like much of the rest of the house, with a notably large bed in the center. He briefly wondered if the man took company often, and considering the looks of things, he expected so.

“On the bed.” The order came calm, but swift and direct as the man closed the door behind them and Ashi obeyed with no hesitance, getting easily to the center and waiting patiently for the next order. “Close your eyes.” He did so, and soon felt as the other covered them, knotting black cloth tightly, but not quite to the point of discomfort.

Once settled and tied the man nodded. “Now place your hands in front of you, palms down.” When he complied with this, the cool of metal handcuffs snapped across his wrists and he felt the bed sink slightly to the wait of the other as he followed him, rising his hands above his head and linking them to something, what he couldn’t be sure, but it limited his movement severely.

Finally, lips met his again and he gave a small moan for good measure, pressing his hips up and rolling slightly as the man straddled him, but firm hands pinned him. “Patience, conejo.” He purred lightly and Ashi’s eyes widened slightly behind the bind, he had assumed a full night, but this man obviously wanted his money’s worth.

A hand trailed up his chest and he let his breath catch as the already scant shirt lifted, rising till it merely gathered at his shoulder-line, fully displaying his chest. This man had patience and, then he felt it, a hand at his pants and he covered a smirk, giving a slight whimper instead and bucking his hips as the snap pressed open.

Just as he felt the zip though, he heard a loud crash sound from seemingly somewhere downstairs in the building. He almost opened his mouth to question in confusion when the door to their room crashed open and he tensed.

He didn’t worry about his state of undress, his position on the bed, or even the obvious state of interrupted sexual intercourse on display, all these he’d grown quite accustomed to in his profession. What made his heart race though, what made his body tense with worry and panic at that moment, was his extreme case of helplessness.

Ashi didn’t mind surrendering, giving himself, his body over to others for their needs came common practice for him. But if he had no choice, no escape, that became something different altogether. He couldn’t see; he couldn’t move. His hands lay firmly cuffed to the bed as he heard the shuffle of several others into the room and his teeth grit. This was not his day.

“Should have guessed, Marcus. So typical of you. Who ever knew you’d grow up to be a murder and a faggot, eh? Guess that’s two in one...” The man who spoke had a heavy Hispanic accent, but spoke fluent English and he wondered briefly if the man who’d taken him were foreign as well, considering his brief use of the language previously.

That thought left him quickly though as the weight on his body lifted and the man he supposed as ‘Marcus’ left the bed. “...and what is this? Another piece of portal trash? It’s probably dirty...ah but look...un conejo, how cute. Bunny ears and everything, does he have a tail to, Marci? Or haven’t you gotten that far yet?”

Ashi heard laughter and shifted slightly, testing his position yet again, wondering any possible solution. “Aw...I think we’re scaring him...want to calm him down? Or maybe you want to bring him u-“

“Fuck off, Carlos. This isn’t getting you anywhere.” He recognized Marcus’s tone.

“Did you tell him what you did to the last one of your little whores, Marcus? Did you?”

“I said fuck off! You didn’t come here to discuss what I do with my money, Carlos.” He hissed lowly, anger flashing in his tone and Carlos’s own words suddenly got serious.

“Actually, I did. Speaking of money, where’s mine? I think you owe me a hefty sum, come to think of it. Where is it now? Down Mr. Bunny’s pants? Let’s check shall we?” Ashi stiffened and stifled a squeak as he felt the sudden brush of cooled hands on his skin, assumably Carlos this time this time, and he noted the cold metal of a what he suspected as a gun dig at his hip from the man’s grasp.

The scouring hands moved along the line of his pants and back till he felt the man’s chuckle against him. “What do you know, boys...he does have a pretty little tail after all...” Another round of unfriendly laughter rose and Ashi, much to his shame, felt his cheeks burn in the personal spotlight, disgusted with himself not for the first time and hoping against hope that no one noticed.

Carlos must have read his mind and he felt hot breath press in his ear. “I think that’s the first I’ve seen a whore blush, sweetheart. You should keep the look, it’s kinda cute.” He lifted and smirked down at the increasingly frustrated rabbit with a chuckle. “It almost gives a sense of innocence...almost.”

“Fuck you.” Shi hissed, wishing for the world he could see and never having felt more embarrassingly displayed. That said something. He kept his lips tightly pursed as the other gave a quick squeeze to his ass before taking the money he’d placed there and backing off.

“You have fun trying that, portal trash. I’ll remember it when I’m deciding whether or not to blow off that pretty little head of yours.” Ashi yelped as a gunshot rang through the still room and the silence broke with Carlos’s light chuckle at his reaction. “Don’t worry, you’ll be joining him soon. Him...and that other little wench friend of yours.”

Shi’s eyes widened dramatically even behind the blindfold as he realized he’d just heard the end of Marcus’s life. It left a chill down his spine and he retracted from the touch as he felt a hand on his cheek, then a more forceful grip on his chin turned his head towards his holder. “Hope you’re a good kisser, sweetheart, or you can kiss your life goodbye.”

Ashi growled as lips pressed to his roughly, bruising, and he winced, scrambling his legs to escape but only uselessly messing the sheets in his scramble. The instant the man backed off, he didn’t even think to his life, and spat. By the man’s growl he almost smirked in victory at his blind success but, at the press of cold gunpoint to his head, thought better of it. He heard it click into gear and shut his already blind eyes tight.

“Fuck you! Fuck you, fuck you, fuck you....”

Carlos stared, then laughed and removed the gun, Ashi blinked in his confusion, though no one could tell, and frowned slightly, stopping his rant. “You know what? You’ve got spite for a whore. A lot more than his last little fuck toy at least...you know he actually tried to kiss me well enough to live? He begged for it...he was crying.”

Ashi’s insides clenched at the thought of Tiejal in that position. Sadly, he could believe it. It made him want to puke at the thought of someone who could do that to him. “You’re a sick bastard.”

“Won’t you be a pretty sight for the police to find, hm? Half-naked...and chained to the bed of a rotting corpse...” Ashi winced in spite of himself. “Hope they find you soon...bodies get to real putrid after a while...doesn’t take to long either...have fun!”

Footsteps, the door slammed, more clamoring. Ashi groaned as he knew he was once again alone in the room. Him...and the rotting body of a dead man. “Shit...” He cursed and turned his head, glaring ahead to the ceiling in perfect darkness. “I need a new job...”
