NOTE- '...' = thought "...." = speaking * = look at bottom of story for explaination. ~ = flashback/ end flashback

Matt sighed as he hoisted himself up into the tallest tree in the park. 'Home sweet home' He thought to himself.
Matt was a sixteen year old boy with shoulder length chestnut hair and chocolate brown eyes. He was very quiet and a punk, but he did let the other kids boss him around. He was depressed. But he had a reason, which was unknown to just about everyone.
Matt layed back on the thick brach which had been his home now for three years, and looked up at the stars. He let his mind wander back to days before.
~ "Yo, Mattie!" yelled a black haired, green eyed boy, who was identical to Matt except for the different hair and eye color.
Matt, who was sitting at his little rickety desk in their bedroom, looked up from his homework. He smiled, a thing rarely seen from him today, and said, "Goofing off again, brother?"
Mark plopped down on his bed, putting his arms behind his back. "Oh, so what if I am?"
Matt shook his head. "You know what Mom'll do if she finds out you've been sneaking off to be with Shawna." Matt drew his finger across his throat and imitated dying.
"Yeah, yeah, but she ain't gonna find out." Mark smiled, and pulled out a drawing Shawna had made of him. Matt came over and snatched the picture.
"Wow, she just gets better every day." He remarked about her skills as an artist.
"Yeah, I know, and it's all for me!" Mark replied, pulling out a folder that he kept all of her drawings in. He pulled out the first one he ever got. "Look how bad she used to be in seventh grade."
Matt sat next to him and held the latest picture up to the oldest one.
"She really has improved and it's only been four or five years." Matt said, in awe.
".... But," He finished,"I need to finish my homework, and I suggest you do likewise."
"Okay," Mark said, getting off the bed and hiding the folder. "I guess you're right."
He came over and took a seat behind Matt. ~
Matt wiped a eyes furiously to prevent the tears that were forming there from rolling down his cheeks. Even though there was no one else around, he still felt shameful, crying like a little girl. He rolled onto his stomach and wrapped his arms around the tree as far as they could go. He rested his head against the rough bark of the tree and let his eyes close. As he was falling asleep he failed to wipe away the hot tear that slipped down his cheek into the tree.
(Author here- Oh! Thanks for the good review! And a little something about myself- I update by sections, not chapters, so, if this story is back at the top, check back, cuz that means I probably added more!)
(Author- How's my first flashback? Makes you wanna know what the heck happened to Matt doesn't it? Hee hee. I'll probably be back later, considering it's Saturday and it's still early, but I have some things to get done and my neck hurts.)
PLEASE REVIEW, thanks
Okay, it's a short chapter but I never promised long ones. Did I? Well, in any event this is ch. 1, complete.
