Gone
The glass doors slid open as she stepped into the room. She breathed in the fresh, new smell she adored so much. Something was different. There was a new prescence. She tried to dismiss it as the woman called her up. It was her turn. She stepped up to the enclosed space and began her transaction. Sensing someone watching her, she turned to her right slowly, cautiously. And he was right there, staring at her. Daring her to trust him completely. Daring her to take a risk. She shook her head and turned back to the teller. The man didn\'t stop staring at her though. She tried, but she couldn\'t keep her eyes off of him. Something about him drew her in. She turned and looked into his eyes, her whole body tense. His allure captivated her. *I can\'t do this,* she told herself, and again she began to turn away. But his eyes enticed her. *Don\'t go away,* he pleaded. Her eyes caught his again, and she fell into something like a hypnotic trance. Feelers extended from his eyes and shot into hers. They extended deep inside, and they began to probe. She pulled her eyes away angrily. His eyes called to her again. She looked at him, but she avoided his eyes like the plague. \"How much money do you want to withdraw?\" the teller asked impatiently. \"Oh no,\" she responded automatically. \"I just want to make a deposit today.\" The lady sighed but nodded her head. Hesitantly, she drew up the courage to look into his eyes again. No words were spoken, but she could almost hear what he was telling her in her mind. *I\'m sorry,* the words echoed through her head. *I won\'t go so deep this time. Just let me probe a little bit. It\'s safe. I promise.* His eyes looked so safe. She nodded. His probes extended inside her again, this time barely touching the surface. She was afraid. She almost pulled away, but she forced herself to stand there and let him see her. Slowly, his probes went a little deeper. She hesitated but allowed it. \"How much money do you want to deposit?\" the teller asked in her friendliest voice. \"Just $400 today,\" she responded mechanically. Her body began to feel warm. It was like as he probed inside her, she began to allow someone to finally see her. She was no longer alone. Someone saw her and cared. The warmth spread throughout her entire body. *Go deeper,* her eyes invited him. He nodded warmly and went even deeper. \"Will that be all?\" She nodded and left the area, stepping closer to him. As the warmth spread to her fingertips, her whole body began to tingle. The probe hit something. He stopped. His eyes went hard and broke with hers. And he left. She knew she would never see him again. Coldness isolated her body as she stood completely still. She had allowed him to probe so deep inside her, and he had seen something he hadn\'t liked at all. She had dared to let him in, and he had patiently been there until he saw something he didn\'t like. Now he was gone forever. She had shared her deepest, most hidden, most secret parts of herself, and he had betrayed her. He had taken a part of her she could never get back.
