The Track
Co-written with Aya
Ruka blinked staring at the stands, then towards where the cars were being unloaded then he stared at Daisuike for a long moment. Words ceased to work for him and he felt like a fish, his mouth opening and nothing coming out, then closing. Walking around the truck he shoved Daisuike against the door, crushing his lips to his letting his excitement and joy and surprise flow through him into the kiss. He always did feel actions spoke louder than words.
Daisuike couldn't hold back the moan at the blissfully intense kiss, he didn't even care that the mechanics were probably watching them. He was just thrilled that Ruka seemed happy. He finally gently pushed him away.
"Come on we need to go say hi to Hoshi and the owner. That and it's going to take a minute to get all the cars unloaded."
"Wait! That's why you put the safety features on all my cars? And my new Saleen?" Ruka's eyes went wide as he followed Daisuike. How long had this man been planning this? He felt horrible that he had gotten injured. It probably ruined the plans to an extent. Holding Daisuike's hand he still couldn't believe it. He was at the Suzuka Circuit.
The Suzuka Circuit.
Daisuike had rented this place out for him for the entire weekend? How much did that cost!?
"Ah! Daisuike, Ruka! Welcome! Glad you guys made it in one piece. Though Ruka seems to have lost his vocal cords and brains somewhere else." Hoshi laughed as he watched them walk over.
"Hi Hoshi. Thanks for coming." Daisuike couldn't stop grinning as he pulled Ruka with him over to the man. "He better not have, he's going to need those sexy brains of his if he wants to race his cars."
"You want to go look around first Ruka?"
"Yes!" Ruka was bouncing staring around excited and still in awe by it all. He was really here. Suzuka Circuit. Never in his life did he think he would've been able to go here, let alone race.
"I think he's gunna jizz himself. . ." Hoshi shook his head going to check on the cars.
"Am I really gunna get to race? Seriously Ouji-sama!?" Seeing him nod Ruka ran a hand through his hair as they walked. "I- I don't know what to say. . . Thank you Daisuike. You- You have no idea what this means to me. . ." He stopped him turning him so they were staring at each other. Cupping his face he stepped closer kissing him gently, stroking his cheeks.
"Seriously. . . Thank you. This means the world to me. I was just going to enjoy spending the weekend with you, but to be able to spend the weekend with you and race. . . It's more than I could've ever asked for."
Daisuike shrugged his cheeks warming at the emotion in Ruka's voice. He'd been so worried but now that they were finally here and seeing his reaction, it made him happier than anything.
"I just wanted to do something special for you. I'm just happy you feel up to driving." He took Ruka's hand in his interlacing their fingers smiling a bit shyly up at him. "Hoshi thinks I'm crazy, but he's been a really big help. He and I have been getting everything ready for the last several weeks. We brought all of your cars here so you can drive any one you choose. Tomorrow everyone else will come and you can race them. Though I'm not sure how many of the guys from your circuit that Fuji invited."
"You mean so much to me Ruka, and I know how much you enjoy racing. Even if I can't go racing with you, it doesn't mean I don't enjoy watching you. So which car do you want to drive first?"
"Do you count as a ride?" He smirked softly kissing him. Maybe he'd do a lap or two before he would tackle Daisuike and drag him somewhere private. Or maybe somewhere on the track since it was only him racing.
Tugging his hand he looked around at the cars unsure of what he wanted to drive. "You pick the car. Any car. I can't decide." He was anxious to try the track out though, never in his life imagining he could race here.
Daisuike was still blushing from the comment and was a little flustered. He looked around at the cars trying to get his mind off of the too tempting visual that was playing out in his head.
"Why don't you take the yellow one? I've always kind of liked it." Daisuike pointed to the low, sleek, almost futuristic looking car. "What's it called again?"
"Oh! That's my Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 Spyder! I really like that one too. Have you seen inside it?" He smiled tugging Daisuike along with him excited to show him. Popping out the doors, he smiled pulling Daisuike inside with him.
"I had this car custom designed and detailed- Oh hey! It smells really good in here. Did Hoshi detail it for me? He always adds a really good scent to the cars." Ruka was bouncing and barely could focus on one thing.
"Actually I think he detailed all the cars." Daisuike was surprised that the car was actually a bit roomier on the inside than he'd thought it would be. Hoshi had done a good job making all the safety features match the luxury interior. "If you drive through that gate over there it will take you to the track. There is a pit crew on standby if you need them. Use your head set to contact them. Just give me a minute to get up in the stand so I can watch you alright."
Ruka stopped Suke from leaving, grabbing his wrist not wanting him to go. Lowering his head he then slowly lifted it staring at Daisuike.
"Come with me? One lap, that's all I ask. I won't go fast." He felt his voice shaking as he spoke and he felt stupid but he wanted this. "I-. . . You've done so much for me and I want to share this moment with you Ouji-sama. . ."
He swallowed against the lump in his throat feeling selfish. "If you don't want to I understand. I will never make you do anything you don't want to do."
"I know you wouldn't Ruka." Daisuike's voice was soft. "Of course I'll go with you. Thank you for asking me to, it really means a lot to me. I promise I'll try not to embarrass you."
He grinned at Ruka for a moment before pulling him close and kissing him before sliding into the seat trying to figure out the five point harness. "If anything I'll just close my eyes."
"I'll take it like a normal drive- Eto. . . a normal drive for you." He chuckled softly before leaning over and helping with the buckles. "You really need to learn this. Though I'm beginning to think you're doing it on purpose so I'll touch you. Naughty Ouji-sama." He smirked kissing his neck softly before buckling in himself.
Shutting the door he smiled starting the car up as he looked at Daisuike, "I promise I won't drift- even if I get the urge." He reached over touching his hand lightly before pressing the pedal driving towards the track.
Daisuike nodded. "I really think I'll be okay. Mostly. It's not like driving on the street at all, there aren't any other cars or anything."
He was still a bit nervous. He hadn't thought Ruka would want him to ride with him but was glad he'd asked. He'd seen the track from the stands and on the websites, but it was going to be completely different actually being on it.
Ruka nodded then cursed softly. "I forgot the helmet. . ." He sighed glancing at Daisuike, "I'll wear it next lap, I promise. If you aren't wearing one I won't either." He smirked softly. That and he really hated helmets. They were just so dorky and bothered him, but if Daisuike wanted him to wear one he would.
Taking a deep breath as he pulled up to the starting line, he exhaled slowly focusing. This wasn't a race, he wasn't going to be going over 70, but he was still nervous. He didn't want Daisuike to freak out or be scared in the slightest. Deep down Ruka knew though that he desperately wanted Daisuike to enjoy racing so he could take him with him one day.
He just hoped that maybe eventually Suke would be able to get over his fear.
"Ready?"
Daisuike glanced over at him surprised at the rush of alarm that went through him. They weren't going to be going fast enough to warrant either of them wearing a helmet, he reasoned with himself, no reason to be scared. He nodded slowly turning to look forward.
"I'm ready."
"Alright." Ruka smiled as he took off. He decided to keep the speeds slow at first then sped up slightly the longer they went. Around 65 he kept the speed even noting that he could probably hit the max speed for all his cars on this straight path.
"How's the speed?"
Honestly he was itching to go so much faster, at least to go 90, but he wouldn't. He'd never scare Daisuike like he had and he berated himself for doing so every time he thought of what he had done.
"It's fine." Daisuike was actually surprised at how fun it was even though he could tell Ruka was dying to go faster. The first turn and the s-curve had been interesting and not frightening at all. He looked over at Ruka.
"You can go faster if you want. This is really pretty fun."
"A-Are you sure?" Ruka shuttered somewhat, almost afraid if he asked Daisuike would change his mind. Seeing him nod, Ruka smiled softly speeding up a bit. Honestly he could go over 150 mph on this part of the track and still be safe, though he kept it around 73 mph as they took the dunlop as they headed into the Denger.
Ruka's eyes went a bit wide with excited knowing the hairpin was coming up. "How does it feel Ouji-sama?" The turn would be the perfect drifting spot. Actually all the turns were good but that hairpin. . . He shivered in excited. Next lap. That's all he had to keep telling himself.
Daisuike was slowly relaxing and starting to enjoy the ride. The car handled so smoothly, or maybe it was just that Ruka was so skilled. He preferred to think the latter. He just wondered how it would feel to be going as fast he he knew Ruka wanted to go. Part of him kind of wanted to try but the larger part wasn't sure he'd be able to handle it.
It irritated him to think that something so stupid bothered him. Why did he have to be afraid of the one thing that Ruka enjoyed?
Ruka smiled as they took the hairpin turn smoothly, his hands itching to shift the car and drift it, but refused to do it. He was kind of enjoying the ride just enjoying Daisuike's company. It was entirely nice just to drive with him.
"How are you liking it Daisuike? Think you'll be racing against me one day?" He laughed softly, "If you want to turn the radio on you can. I'm actually really enjoying this drive, even if I'm not taking it 150 and drifting all the corners. I'm curious as to how fast each thing can be taken. I bet there's statistics out there. I might look them up." He smiled happily.
"I wonder if my cars can take it the speed that it says it can be taken at."
Daisuike nodded, the hairpin had made his stomach feel a bit weird, but nothing like the overwhelming terror he'd experienced that one time. He turned the radio on down low, not wanting to distract Ruka too much.
"This really is fun. I mean I know we aren't going anywhere near as fast as you want to go, but it's fun."
"See, you're beginning to enjoy driving. I honestly think you'd enjoy going fast. It gives you a sense of freedom and liberation. With me, it gives me a sense of control. I know how fast I'm going, I know my limits, I know how well I can handle things. I'm always in control- Eto. . . except when I crashed. See that's an example of being stupid and ignoring your limits." He smiled slightly before he started the Crossover.
He knew the race track was almost over and it made him sad. He didn't want it to be over. He wanted to do it again with Daisuike. Even if they had taken triple possible even 5 times as long as it would have taken to finish the track normally, he had enjoyed his time far too much.
"Maybe- Maybe later we can try for you driving next. You can go any speed you want. I would really love to see you driving one of my cars. Then again I'd love to see you spread out across the hood of one of my cars. . ." He smirked just imagining that image.
Daisuike was getting ready to say something when Ruka's comment took him completely off guard leaving him staring open mouthed at his lover. He knew he really shouldn't be surprised at anything Ruka said but that was just . . . one of the odder things he'd heard him say. He had the most disturbing mental picture of himself posed on the hood of one of the cars like those women in the magazines he'd seen around the apartment.
He shut his mouth and shook his head slightly not even sure what to say for a moment. Choosing to ignore the comment he cleared his throat. "I would like that, though I'm not sure which one."
Ruka blinked raising a brow but nodded anyways. Daisuike wasn't sure which he'd want to do? Laughing he crossed the finish line, heading them over back to where all the cars were parking. Unbuckling himself he leaned over to unbuckle Daisuike, kissing him slowly, teasingly as he ran his hands across his chest.
"What would you like to do now? Did you want to see me take the track normally? Or would you actually like to drive?"
"I'd like to watch you take it at full speed actually. So which car are you going to take this time? I actually think I'd like to see how my truck handles on it." He grinned at Ruka knowing he'd probably think he was an idiot for thinking it, but it was the one vehicle he was the most comfortable with.
"That might be fun. I'll use the Saleen if that's okay and I'll wear the helmet." Sliding out of the car he walked around pressing Daisuike against the car. "I'd love to have you drive me in your truck around the course." Kissing him he ran his hands along his side, then groped his ass laughing as he stepped back.
"Off to the Saleen!"
Daisuike was blushing like mad as Ruka went to go get the Saleen. He'd never get used to Ruka doing stuff like that. Following him over to the silver car he watched him put on the helmet a shiver running through him. If Ruka had any idea just how sexy he looked in it he wouldn't complain about wearing it. There was just something about the helmet that made him seem mysterious and alluring. Maybe he'd have to help Ruka understand just how much he liked the look. Though he wasn't quite sure how. He'd think of something. Right now he needed to get up into the stand so he could watch.
Watching as Daisuike ran to the stands he smiled settling into the seat. He wasn't used to the helmet but he'd get used to it. It was actually nice and he could see around with it. Buckling up he moved the starting line looking and waiting until Daisuike gave him the signal that he could go.
Waiting a second he revved the engine loving the sound and vibrations through the car. Watching the meters flick up and down he smiled as he took off, having missed the speed far too much. He was never going to crash again if he was having to not race for this long.
Daisuike was surprised at just how fast Ruka took off. It scared him just a bit, but he knew Ruka was in complete control. Watching him drift through the first turns he grinned. He knew Ruka had to be having a good time. It was fun to watch and he was very, very glad he'd thought of doing this. Tomorrow would be very interesting too.
Ruka was surprised by how fast he was going, shifting gears and slowing down, drifting and getting through all the turns. It was exhilarating and he could hear his blood pumping in his ears. Never in his life had his skills been challenged this much and he thought he was going to die from joy. Barely 2 minutes passed before he finished the track and he pulled up towards the finish line skidding to a stop laughing as he got out of the car pulling the helmet off.
"Oh my god! That was. . . that was. . ." He was laughing and panting slightly, his heart racing. It was amazing. Simply amazing. He really hoped one day he could enjoy it along side with Daisuike.
Daisuike was surprised at how quickly Ruka finished the circuit. He could see the grin on his face from where he was in the stands as he made his way down to the race track. It had been amazing to see Ruka drive the track with such skill. He knew it was a difficult track. All the stuff he'd read on it said it was one of the most difficult in the world.
Seeing Daisuike heading towards him, Ruka ran over after setting the helmet down running to him and grabbing him hugging him tightly.
"Ouji-sama!! That was amazing! Thank you thank you thank you!!" He squeezed him in a tight hug burying his face against his neck, shaking with excitement. "That was truly amazing. . . I don't think I've ever enjoyed racing so much. I can't wait for everyone to get here. Though I'm gunna make them all drive through it first and and-" He wasn't able to keep talking kissing Daisuike passionately, holding the back of his head. "God, I love you. You are the sweetest and most caring man I have ever met. It's not even just because you rented this place out. No one has ever given me a gift like this. Nothing compared to the thought and meaning behind it. Thank you. . ."
Daisuike smiled suddenly feeling bashful at the way Ruka was reacting. He couldn't explain the feeling welling up in him but he never wanted it to go away. To know that he'd made Ruka this happy truly pleased him and made him feel like he'd accomplished what he'd set out to do.
"I'm glad you like it. It means everything to me that you are happy. You've taken such good care of me . . . I just wanted to show you how much it means to me."
"And I think tonight I'll show you just how much I appreciate what you've done for me. . ." Ruka smiled kissing him gently, the kiss telling him just how much he was going to show him how much he appreciated what he did.
***
Ruka yawned happy and satisfied. Last night had been a lot of fun and he was content just to lay next to Daisuike. Shifting he rolled to his side, spooning Daisuike's back, wrapping his leg around him. Nuzzling his neck, he lapped at the skin, nipping and kissing.
"Time to wake up Ouji-sama. . ."
Daisuike opened his eyes slowly smiling at the feel of Ruka against him. He sighed content and happy. Last night had been simply amazing. Though, if Ruka was like that after every time he raced Daisuike wondered if he'd be able to handle it.
"Morning." He yawned and turned to look at him smiling. "I'm guessing you want to get up?"
"Or off. Either works for me, but I think I can settle for breakfast." He chuckled softly kissing his neck agian. Shifting up he rolled Daisuike onto his back straddling his waist pressing against him letting him feel just how hard he was as he leaned down to kiss him.
"I can never get enough of you. Though you as breakfast sounds amazing. . ."
Gasping softly Daisuike was tempted to skip breakfast, lifting his hips, the thrill of having Ruka on top of him almost too much. He smiled panting softly trying to keep his desire from getting the better of him just yet. He gazed up into green eyes and felt purely content like he never had in his life. How had he ever found someone as amazing as Ruka? Getting to spend each day with him over the last three months as they’d both healed had been the some of the most fun he could remember having. Each day he spent with Ruka, the more time he wanted to spend with him. He grinned up at his lover, running his fingers though the blond hair.
"I'll go fix you a good breakfast. You are going to need all your energy to race your friends today."
"Will you drive your truck today? Who's all coming? You said my friends, are your family and Hime-chan and everyone coming? Oh! Is Akira's band playing? We could do that photoshoot that they wanted to do when we drifted in Kobe." Ruka leaned back groaning softly as his erection pressed against Daisuike more. He had to stop though. He was suddenly excited for a very different reason. If everyone was coming that maybe meant Jiro would be there. He felt his heart race. He could speak with Jiro.
"I want to help make breakfast!" Ruka laughed leaning down to kiss him and got up pulling Daisuike with him.
"I invited pretty much everyone we know. Fuji was helping me take care of inviting your friends. I invited my family and friends and yes the boys are coming too. They are going to put on a free concert tonight when we open the park to the public for a while." He headed for the fully stocked kitchenette to start breakfast. There was so much to do today he wasn't quite sure where to start. He was wondering when everyone was going to start arriving. He needed to be at the raceway to greet people as they came.
"I wonder what I should wear," He muttered to himself as he got the ingredients out for the food.
"Only your apron?" He laughed moving away before Daisuike could whack him with the spoon he had in his hand. "Fine fine. I guess you can wear normal clothes. I'm gunna go pick our clothes out!" Ruka bounced away completely excited and feeling like he was going to crawl out of his skin with joy. Daisuike would never know just how happy he was. The amount of joy and excitement and happiness he felt could never be measured. Rummaging through their suitcases he found the clothes quickly stripping and doing his hair and make-up.
"I'm doing your hair and make-up today!"
Daisuike just shook his head and turned back to making breakfast grinning the whole time. He set their plates out on the little table and glanced around to see where Ruka was. He was just coming out of the bathroom. Daisuike felt his breath hitch seeing how gorgeous the man looked. How was it possible for him to look even more beautiful than before? Daisuike looked down suddenly feeling nervous and bit shy for some reason his cheeks burning. He was still in just his boxers and t-shirt an apron tied around his waist. He knew his hair was a mess and he hadn't even cleaned up from last night yet. He should have gotten up first and taken a shower and made himself presentable at least.
"An-ano, breakfast is ready."
Ruka grinned happily walking towards Daisuike, wrapping an arm around his waist to pull him close. Leaning down he kissed him, lingering longer than normal as he stroked his side with his hand that held him.
"It smells and looks wonderful. Thank you."
Even if Daisuike wasn't dressed up he still looked beautiful. Running a hand through his hair he kissed him again moving to start on breakfast. Waiting as Daisuike sat down he smiled reaching across the table touching his hand before placing his hands together with his chopsticks.
"Itadakimasu."
Daisuike quickly cleared the dishes once they were finished. He was excited and a little anxious to get to the raceway this morning. He wondered if Fuji and Masa were there already.
"You think Fuji and Masa will have fun with the track. Are you going to race them, do you think?"
"Definitely! It will be exciting to see how well we do. Though I really want everyone to be careful. The track is really difficult so I want the guys to be safe." Getting up he smiled helping Daisuike bathe and change into his clothes. Of course he picked the best looking ones he had. They were his own clothes, not finding what he wanted in Daisuike's own pick.
"There. Let's do your hair and make-up. And quit fussing with the clothes you look hot." He kissed him softly. He was always so worried what he looked like, though Ruka was going to have to make sure everyone knew that Daisuike was his and not to touch because he knew several of the guys would want to touch Daisuike.
"I'm thinking something similar to what Hime-chan did for you that one time." He grinned excited to see him all dressed up.
Daisuike really wasn't sure about the clothes. He'd thought that was he brought was just fine. Ruka's clothes always showed so much skin. Not that he minded when Ruka wore them, but he wasn't used to it for himself. He sighed hearing what Ruka planned. He rarely ever wore make-up but if Ruka wanted him to he would. He buttoned the shirt back up not sure about letting his tattoo show like that, even if it was just the top part of it.
Ruka smiled as he pulled Daisuike to him, sitting down in front of him as he did his make-up. It was fun for him, getting to dress his Ouji-sama up and make him look smoking hot. As he finished the make-up he leaned forward kissing him have to resist the urge to push him against wall and have his way with him.
As he pulled back he smiled, "Onto hair. I'll be sure not to pull too hard, even though I know you like it." He winked a bit as he started to tease and work the wax into it trying to decide what he wanted to do.
Daisuike rolled his eyes enduring the 'rough' treatment as Ruka did his hair. He never understood why anyone would spend so much time putting stuff into their hair to make it stand up. He'd seen Akira spend an easy thirty minutes in the bathroom just doing his hair. Of course he had a lot longer hair, but still. He waited patiently for Ruka to get finished knowing that whatever he did it would look good.
"Are you sure this is absolutely necessary. No one is here to see me."
"It doesn't matter! It's about feeling good about yourself. And looking damn right sexy." He grinned as he finished, "All done. Let me wash my hands and I'll be ready. Is there anything else you need to do before we go? I'm excited! I wonder if anyone's there yet. I bet Masa's hungry. . ." He continued to ramble on about other things as he wandered to the bathroom to wash his hands off.
"Oh! When is Akira's band suppose to play?" He bounced along as he went to put his shoes on.
"I think they are going to play around seven this evening, give everyone a chance to get here." He reached up lightly touching his hair. It was all stiff and spiky. Looking at himself in the mirror he shook his head wondering why Ruka liked the look so much. He felt like it made him look too feminine with all the make-up. Ruka could pull it off without losing any of his masculinity, but he felt a little weird wearing it. He wondered if this was why Akira got teased so much. He wouldn't quit wearing the make-up though, silly brat.
"They will be here around noon to start practicing though. Should be fun."
"Cool. I enjoyed their music last time I heard them. Maybe we can stop the races and have everyone listen to them. Or do their own thing if they don't like the music. The cars would be too loud probably anyways." Taking hold of Daisuike's hand he led him out excited to see who was around and waiting.
Once they got there he still couldn't get over the shock that he was at the Suzuka Circuit. Seeing it made it all too real. Spotting two cars he knew, Ruka tugged Daisuike with him.
"Fuji! Masa!"
"Ru-kun!"
"Ruka!" The two guys ran towards the couple, Masa bouncing like a fool as Fuji grinned happily.
"Like your surprise?"
"Daisuike was so nervous that you wouldn't."
"Like it? You got no idea! Dude! It's amazing driving that course! Don't I have the most amazing boyfriend ever!?" He laughed happily pulling Daisuike closer.
Daisuike wondered if he was going to end up spending the whole day blushing if Ruka was going to compliment him like this. He still wasn't used to it and had to resist the urge to tell him he was wrong. He wanted to be the best boyfriend he possibly could for Ruka and to hear him say it made him feel like he was going to burst from happiness.
"Ano, do you guys want to go see the track?"
"See it!? I wanna race it! Can I race it!? Please Ruka! I'll be careful I swear! Can I can I!?!?" Masa was literally going to pop out of his skin or break a bone the way he was freaking out.
"Yes! But you gotta first drive the course going the max of 75."
"EH!?" Fuji and Masa both exclaimed staring at Ruka like he was insane.
"It's safer so you get a gist of the course. That's the rules. I even did it."
"You suck. . ."
"Masa, you'll do it or go play in the amusement park all weekend."
"Fine. . ." Masa pouted moping as they headed towards the track.
Ruka smiled squeezing Daisuike's hand and stole a quick kiss enjoying himself.
Daisuike was a bit surprised to hear Ruka's stipulation, but it made him happy too. They didn't need any accidents ruining the weekend even if there were paramedics on stand by the whole time. He smiled at Ruka his lips still tingling slightly. He was excited to watch everyone take their turn at the track and wondered who would manage the best lap times.
"Oh Masa! I almost forgot, there is food up in the press box. One of my friends catered for us. Thought you might want to know." Daisuike smiled at him wondering which Masa would want to do first, food or race.
"Eh- Eh!?" Masa stared in horror as he looked towards where the press box was then towards the race track. "But- The- and. . . WHY!?"
Fuji and Ruka laughed, Ruka nearly doubling over in giggles. It was such a sad sight to see Masa panicked, torn between his two loves in life.
"It's okay Masa. The track is here all weekend."
"But- But-"
"The food will be too." Ruka added.
"But- But. . . "
"Go eat Masa. . . " Fuji sighed watching as Masa ran towards the food probably going to try and stuff it all into his mouth at once.
"How much will they cater? I think between Masa and Hasu it'll be gone. . ."
"Eto, yeah well the concert tonight isn't free for general admission. It's how I'm paying for all the extra's." He glanced at Ruka then back at Fuji. "So are you going to go try the track out? Was anyone else from your gang coming?"
He knew Jiro and Haru would be there soon along with Hayate and Kenta and probably Hiro too. Akira would be coming with the band in a couple of hours so they could get set up.
"Oh. . . Wait. . . Daisuike how much are you spending! Let me help!" Ruka looked at Daisuike a bit horrified. He wanted to help him pay for some of the things. That wasn't fair of him.
"How about we make the racers pay a fee like a normal race? Maybe give half the pot to Daisuike. Though I honestly think if you win you'd give him all the money, ne?" Fuji smiled at them, "The crew will be coming a bit later. We got here pretty early. Let's go race Ruka."
"Daisuike let me pay for some of it!" Ruka pouted at Daisuike.
"Go race Ruka." Daisuike smiled at him before turning to head into the stands. A snack did sound good, maybe Masa would keep him company for a bit. He was excited to see Ruka on the track again especially against someone else. He felt a lot better about it since it was a more controlled environment and he didn't have to worry about regular drivers getting in their way.
"Go through the race first Fuji."
"I'm on it. Hush." Fuji grumbled getting into his car taking off on the track at a normal decent speed. Of course Fuji looked pissed but Ruka looked happy as he choose his car.
"This is really nice of you Daisuike. When Fuji dragged me out of bed at 4am this morning telling me we were going to a surprise you were throwing I didn't expect this." He smiled around mouthfuls of food swallowing it before getting more food.
"I mean, it's really awesome. Ruka probably shit his pants when you brought him here, huh!"
Daisuike chuckled as he stood at the picture window watching Fuji take the hairpin and head into the spoon.
"That's not quite what happened, but he was very excited. I thought he was going to hyperventilate when he realized where we were." He took a bite of the small pastry and looked back at Masa. "I got to ride with him on his first lap. It was a lot of fun. I might take my truck on it later."
"Your truck?" He raised an eyebrow. "I guess that could work. Are you going to drive faster than the speed limit or actually maybe go faster?" Masa laughed stuffing himself and moving away so he wasn't hit. "Sorry, but you drive so slow!"
Ruka smiled seeing Fuji finish and he pulled up with his own car. "Ready to eat shit Fuji?"
"You're wearing a helmet."
"Daisuike bought me it. It's pretty decent."
"You're so love struck!"
"Shut up and drive."
Daisuike just laughed at him and turned back to watching the track. "Oh! Looks like they are going to race, come watch Masa."
A thrill ran through him seeing Ruka with his helmet on getting into his car. He cut a rather striking figure in the car, looking like the dashing hero out of a racing movie. He sighed unable to take his eyes off his boyfriend part of him wishing he could be down there with him.
Masa smiled resting against the wall as he watched. Glancing at Daisuike he smiled softly, "Why don't you ask to race with him for a lap or two? You seem to really want to be down there with him. I doubt he'd mind the extra weight in his car. He's had Reiko in his car and I honestly doubt that much extra weight between you two would really make a difference with Ruka's skill level."
Seeing the two cars speed down the straight then drifting the corners, aligning themselves perfectly with each other, Masa smiled. Ruka and Fuji were amazing drivers and he wished he had as great of skill they did. Maybe in a few years he'd get better. He just hoped he could be half as good as them soon.
A small jolt of fear stabbed through Daisuike at Masa's suggestion. He wasn't sure if he was quite ready for that just yet.
"Ano . . . I'll see. I don't mind watching. I mean this weekend is for Ruka to just enjoy racing in a safe environment where he can go as fast as he wants and race you guys."
Masa blinked seeing the unease in Daisuike and frowned. Was he afraid that Ruka was going to crash and he'd be in it this time? Frowning he crossed his arms staring out towards the track watching Fuji and Ruka make another lap.
"You have to just trust him Daisuike. That's where fear like that comes from. Distrust. If you're willing to risk your life for Ruka, to risk having some madman kill you just to get him back. . . You should be able to let go of your own life and give it to Ruka and to be able to enjoy it." Looking down some Masa sighed. "It's easier to be the driver in a race than a passenger. When Fuji first took me racing it scared he shit out of me. It was insane and I was scared. More scared than I had ever been but I finally learned to trust Fuji and I eventually got to liking the control without control feel and started to do it myself and then it became even easier. Hell now I can ride with Fuji no problem. I also know the mechanics of it all so that helps."
Daisuike looked over at Masa. "It's not that I don't trust Ruka. I'd trust him with my life. It's just . . . " He looked back out at the track. When he really thought about it what Masa said made total sense. He was letting his fear hold him back, keep him from fully enjoying this experience with Ruka. He did trust Ruka didn't he? He was being selfish and stupid again. "You know what, you are right. I've been stupid about it. I shouldn't let one bad experience years ago still dictate my actions. Ruka would never do anything to hurt me or jeopardize our lives."
"Not like she did." He added softly, more to himself.
"You were in an accident?" Masa suddenly felt bad. He just thought he was scared of driving. "Ah- I'm sorry. . ." He hung his head, "I know childhood experiences can really mess with your head when you're an adult. I-I . . . you shouldn't do anything you don't feel comfortable doing Daisuike." Not to mention Ruka would kill him if he found out that Masa had been the one to pressure Daisuike into doing it. "You took a lap with Ruka, that was good ne? Maybe you can work your way up to going faster, though drifting might be bad probably. Though if Ruka's focused he could do just about anything I imagine. Just. . . Don't push yourself okay?"
"No you are right. I should trust Ruka more." Daisuike held his gaze for a moment before looking out the window. "You remember when Ruka first bought the Saleen? I went with him to pick it up. He took me for a drive in it. Up until that point I had never even realized that I was scared. I remembered that I had been in a wreck but that was it. When he drifted through that corner it was like I relived it all over again. I seriously thought I was going to die. It was not Ruka's fault I reacted the way I did, yet I couldn't help it. Since then he'd never gone more than seventy with me in the car. I want to be able to share this with him, but . . . I'm afraid I'll embarrass myself again."
"So embarrass yourself." Masa was quite frank about it, pushing off the wall to get a drink, "We all embarrass ourselves so what makes you more special than the rest of us?" He smiled softly. Maybe he'd try and help these two out.
"If you want to be with Ruka when he drives 200 mph, then do it. You just gotta learn your limits like the rest of us. If at first you can only go 100 without freaking out, then do it. Then push your limit and see if you can go 101 and then 102 and then 103."
He smiled stuffing his mouth full of onigiri talking around it some, "You ain't any different than the rest of us."
Daisuike just shook his head laughing softly. "It's worth a try."
Maybe tonight he'd see if Ruka would let him ride with him again. He didn't really want to do it in front of everyone else. He still remembered the horrible feeling he'd had at Hoshi's when he'd realized how badly he freaked out in front of everyone. He'd promised himself that he would never embarrass Ruka like that again.
"Good. I'm full. I'm racing!" Masa dashed out of the press box heading towards where his car was just as Ruka pulled up with his own car getting out.
"I'm racing I'm racing!"
"Yes yes, go Masa!" Ruka laughed as he pulled the helmet off heading towards Daisuike. Pulling him close he kissed him softly touching his face.
"After Masa races a bit, want to try your truck before the other racers show up? They should be here in an hour or so Fuji said.”
"Ano . . . yeah I guess I could. That might be fun. If Masa teases me about going slow I'm going to punch him." Daisuike grinned and ran his fingers through Ruka's hair. "You want a snack? I brought you down an onigiri and a coke. If you want something else I'll go get it."
Ruka licked his lips leaning close to Daisuike's ear enjoying his fingers in his hair, "You brought down my favorite snack though. You." Licking the shell of his ear he pulled him closer. "Though I think I'll need to wait to eat it later so I guess the onigiri and coke will have to do." Kissing him again he took the onigiri and coke taking a bite out of it enjoying the taste.
"Mmm, Salmon!"
Daisuike wrapped his arm loosely around Ruka's waist enjoying being so close for the moment. His heart was beating a little faster than normal and he blamed Ruka's comment for that. That soft voice and light caresses stripped him of any and all control. He watched Masa trying not to think too much about the gorgeous body pressed up against his side.
After happily munching on the onigiri he watched as Masa pulled up after a few laps.
"Hungry again!"
"We're taking the track no one but Ouji-sama allowed!" Ruka shouted happily pulling Suke towards his truck. "Did you want to do it alone or can I go for the ride?" He was excited to see how Daisuike handled it. Honestly he'd make a great racer, with his control and skill, but the fear factor had to go if he would be able to actually reace.
Daisuike was a little surprised to find Ruka leading him over to his truck. "Ano, I'd rather you do with me. I've never done anything like this before and I'd rather not wreck my truck. It's not got the racing safety features like your cars."
He slid into the driver's seat and got buckled waiting as Ruka go in. He looked over at him and took a deep breath.
"Are you ready?"
"More than ready." Buckling up he leaned over kissing him and stroking him, "Don't worry. Just take this like you normally would. I just want you to enjoy yourself too." Settling back in his seat he watched Daisuike start out towards the start line, heading through the straight away.
Would he go over the speed limit? Even if he didn't that was fine, but he truly wished Daisuike would get over his fear just for his own sake and not so he could race with him. But then again that woman screwed with his entire family far too much for things to go over easily.
