Blue Flower
I believe this is referred to as an information dump. I also think that Rahluen knows what it all means, he just wants Rel's view on it.I didn't think I'd finish this before having to leave, but I did and it's here so yay me. I feel productive. There could be a lot of clues taken from this one and the entire time I wrote I was writing for one thing and so I was totally worried that it would be obvious and then I finished and read it and kind of gaped at what I had written. Just 'cause. Suryallee tried asking me who had killed Rel's wife and lover... er. Exwife and exlover. It's actually a big part of the plot, so I couldn't tell her. Hence why I've offered cookies for anyone who even tries to guess... oh, I think that means Suryallee earned two cookies last night in chat, actually. Read, Review and Enjoy“Oh, how nice,” Rel murmured, looking at the vase with a single, bright blue flower in it, “someone’s left me a present.”The nurse glared at Rel as she took his pulse. She finished and jotted something down on her clipboard.“I’m just wondering who to thank, I’m not trying to hit on you,” Rel said quickly. She got up and left as Rel sighed out and looked at the flower again. He frowned and bent towards it. Someone had hydroponically grown the flower in the vase. Amusing. Must have been Rahluen’s work. As if the thought of the man conjured him, Rahluen slipped into the small curtained area. He dropped a visi-screen, one of Rel’s many investments finally come to success. Rel picked it up and looked at the streaming news cast. Sidhe. Mik and Paw, Mik having been named ambassador. “And?” Rel asked, handing the screen back to Rahluen.“Look at the Sidhe. What does it mean?”“Why not ask an Illuen.”Rahluen growled.“Oh. Oh, right, I forgot. Illuen and Rahluen don’t work together. Ever,” Rel sighed and watched the video through. He frowned, “that’s the second time Paw’s said he has teeth,” he pondered it for a moment, “Sidhe are said to fight tooth and claw. He’s not saying that he has teeth. He’s saying that if they poke him, he’ll fight back. Biting through the camera was impressive, considering how many alloys are in those journalist cameras. You can see as he leaves, he’s upset. Mik calls to him and Paw stops, but only for Mik. He’s not just walking away from the conference, he’s walking away from the people. If we want him on our side, we have got to go to him and make him understand that some of us are worth saving.”“Why? He’s not this Whisper person. Whisper is people.”“Look at the way he sits at the beginning of the conference, he’s not zoned out,” Rel used the tech to zoom in, surprised that it actually zoomed for him, considering his damned luck with technology, “look at his eyes. Now, I don’t know what colour they’re supposed to be, but I’m fairly certain they aren’t black when he turns back to Mik.”“His pupils are huge.”“No duh. He’s seeing something we can’t, a light frequency or something. The light in there is bright, way too bright. To have your pupils like that would burn your retinas and he suffers no ill effect. He may not be Whisper, but he’s in direct contact to the man,” Rahluen gave Rel a look and the young man sighed, “those who once were supposed to have power, showed signs. This was one of the signs. Enlarging of the pupils.”“You work under the assumption that Sidhe have power.”“He bit into metal alloy with no ill to himself and crushed the other part without leaving even an indentation on the skin. His skin is like ours, it can be cut, if it could hold up against metal alloys, then Valeasans would be having a hell of a time killing them. If that’s not power, I don’t know what it is, because there is no logical explanation for how he’s doing it.”“Ah.”“And that’s not Illuva’s bible. It’s the Blood Bible, an older version, my grandmother owned one that said that. It doesn’t pertain to the bible itself, it’s a prophesy. That Whisper shall take to the battlefield and shall have at his back the gods and the lovers. But the lovers haven’t been documented in modern history. Ever.”“You are certain it said the lovers.”“Exact wording, my grandmother and I used to debate as to whether it meant the Lover and Other or if it meant a pair who were lovers. Those words are used later on, the lovers shall prevail where all others have failed, for … even in the darkest night they shall know each other through and through.”“That sounds like-”“It sounds like, but it can’t be. Illuva has stated herself that prophesy about the Lover and Other is not possible. The Other is her prophet and more often than not, like Illuva, the Other is illiterate and can’t write his words and the Lover would never commit the prophecies to paper. It’s considered blasphemy.”“The darkest night means the night before a battle.”“And through and through usually implies a touching of the minds,” Rel tapped the side of his own head, “meaning that this pair will be lovers and they will both have power. Power’s never won against technology, otherwise it would still be around. However. If Whisper has survived and he’s backed by the Sidhe and the lovers. Then we have an issue.”“Why?”“Do the Rahluen not teach history?” Rel muttered, annoyed, “The Sidhe have never entered a war and lost. Their loss of life, their so called struggle isn’t a struggle. It’s them either biding their time or taking pity on the poor, stupid people.”“Lovely,” Rahluen muttered under his breath.“Hey, did you bring me that flower?” Rel motioned to the flower.Rahluen shook his head, “I think it was here when you came. Probably left over from the last patient.”“Oh.” Rel had been there… three days, “I didn’t think flowers could last that long without water.”“Maybe it’s genetically altered. Those are popular these days. Live longer and are brighter in colour.”“Could be.”.
