Bratty Candy Land

The rest of the day was hard. Donovan was coming up with ways to get Leolin out of this situation, watching his twin lament over the sudden realization. How could it have gotten to this? He knew his twin was going to run back to Rosencroft's arms...with just a few words said to him. He knew Leolin wouldn't resist it. At all.
This was going to be difficult. Donovan had to take into consideration everything that was happening to his twin, as well as what should happen. How was he going to get the other help? It was hard enough to get him to say yes. He wouldn't tell Leolin what was planned, that would probably cause more heartache on his brother.
Right then, the mute twin was hugging his teddy bear so tight. Donovan knew he wanted it to be all okay again. It was obvious. At least to him it was. He got to his feet and started to move to the balcony to at least smoke. It was at this time that the sun was going down. The night had just begun. The sights and sounds of the city. Cars, sirens, all the ambiance of the beauty of New York. It was hustling, bustling, hurrying, and never sleeping. It would be hard to leave.
Just when he thought he had a plan, the door burst open and here came Elliot Rosencroft with something bundled in his arms. Long, strawberry blond hair shifted as he walked. Donovan went back inside and saw that a little girl was being held by him. She was asleep.
“Shh...she fell asleep on the ride over.” Donovan saw that he looked happy, like any father would. The hitman came closer as Leolin crawled and nuzzled his leg. The mob boss whisked the tiny girl into the bedroom so she could sleep. So that was his daughter.
“Sir. Why'd you bring her here?”
“She wanted to be with me tonight instead of her mother.”
“Right.” He looked into the dark bedroom as the door was closed. Now there was a spawn of Satan. Pure fucking joy. Donovan watched his twin crawl around the man's legs as Elliot sat down.
“She is the sweetest little girl.”
“Cool. What's her name, Boss?”
“Angelica Pearl Rosencroft.” Fancy name. Donovan just nodded and sat as well. He noted that Leolin just sat on the floor at the man's feet. Fucking hell, couldn't he at least sit on the couch? It wasn't his place to say.
“Did you...order pizza?”
“Yeah, I like it...it ain't a problem right?”
“Oh, of course not.” The red headed man's head was tilted towards the garbage can with two large pizza boxes stuffed in the garbage can. Donovan tempted to roll his eyes and refrained as he heard a whine come from the bedroom. Out came a three year old Angelica from the dark room, rubbing her eyes.
“Daddy...?” Her vision was put into focus. Bright blue eyes and freckles spread across her cheeks, innocent and sweet. That was what Donovan thought until she saw Leolin and gasped.
“LEELIN!” Her voice started to screech as she ran to the boy and hugged him, tugging on his collar. Donovan raised an eyebrow, she was loud. Leolin took it like any other playmate would and licked her cheek. She giggled as the twin's arms wrapped around. Her squeals shattered the quiet night as she pulled on the boy's hair, rough.
Donovan winced on instinct. He looked at Rosencroft, who was chuckling. “She plays so well with him.” If that was playing, there was no way he'd want to see fighting. Leolin snickered silently and hugged her again.
“DADDY!”
“Yes, my princess.”
“DADDY I WANNA ICE CREAM!”
“Right away, my dear.” He chuckled and got to his feet. Donovan was under the impression that whatever Angelica wanted, Angelica got. A spoiled little brat. Lovely. He watched as she hit Leolin in the face.
“I wanna piggyback rwide!” Leolin got on all fours and waited as she climbed on top of him, still pulling his hair. “Gittyup!” Donovan watched as his brother crawled around, giving her a ride. His face never showed pain, and Don knew she was tugging his hair hard.
Rosencroft came in with a frown, on his cellphone. “Angelica, baby, please be a good girl for Donovan. I have to go get your ice cream.” Instantly there was ear shattering squeals of tears from her.
“NO! NO! NO! DADDY STAY HERE! I WANNA DADDY!” Leolin even winced at the decibel of her pitch.
“All right, but do you want some ice cream, Princess?” Eugh, this was something off of a bad candy factory movie.
“I WANNA DADDY AND ICE CREAAAAM!” Did she have to keep fucking screaming!? Rosencroft looked as though he'd bend over backwards for his daughter. His eyes grew wide as he scooped the little girl up and hugged her close, whispering in her ear.
“I'll get the ice cream, you get to play with Leolin-puppy.” What the fuck...puppy? “And when I get back we'll play Candy Land.” Her eyes lit up.
“Daddy would pway Candy Land?”
“Yes, Daddy will play Candy Land.” She was instantly happy. Seems like maybe this kid didn't see a lot of her father. Elliot put her down as he kept whispering kind things to her, hurrying out the door to find ice cream for his little Angelica. The sight made Donovan nearly lose his lunch.
When the door closed, she followed to it. She screamed abruptly and stomped back towards the brothers.
“Leelin! I wanna rwide!” Leolin was willing to oblige as she got on his back again. Donovan noticed she had a hurt look on her face, this wasn't a good sign. As his twin let her ride around, the hitman watched her grip his collar tight.
“Faster horsey!” That's when she hit his back, hard. Leolin all ready had bruises there and the pressure put there made him wince and gasp.
“Hey...hey, Princess...”
“What! FASTER LEELIN!” Leolin had no choice but to move faster. This pissed his twin off.
“Horsey's kind of hurt right now, I don't think you can make him go faster.”
“Nuh uh! Faster Leelin!” There was another slap on his spine. Donovan jerked a little and it made him mad. “Not fast enough!” He watched Angelica get off Leolin's back and push him, where another bruised spot was. It made him squeak.
“Your fault! Your fault Leelin! Stupid puppy!”
“HEY!” She shrank back in surprise when Donovan yelled at her. He had had enough. “Don't call 'em stupid, Kid.” Tears started to sprout in her young eyes.
“Y-You're meeeean!” Oh God, this was becoming a nightmare. Donovan hated kids. Leolin's eyes grew wide as saucers as he licked her cheeks, trying to make the tears disappear. He glared in his twin's direction. “I-It...Is...His...Fault!” She managed to gasp out.
Fuck. Now Donovan was the bad guy. “Why's it Leolin's fault?” He rubbed his temples, a very bad headache was starting in.
“He...stole....Daddy! Mama...Mama....doesn't see....Daddy....she...she...” She was starting to gasp and sob and cry. All the while, those little arms grasped onto Leolin like he was her only doll.
“What'd your Mama do?”
“Mama....never....never pways...with me!” Poor kid. Sounds like she was ignored and given way to much crap for compensation.
“Leolin's not doin' that, Angelica...okay? Don't hit him. He likes you, he wants to play with you.” She just nodded and poked her lip out. Maybe he talked some sense into her. He watched as she wiped the tears out of her eyes and hugged Leolin close, kissing his cheek. It made the blind boy smile and lean against her.
About that time, her father walked in with a tub of ice cream and a polar bear stuffed toy. “Hey Princess, were you good for the nice man?”
“DADDY HE YELLED AT ME!” Elliot looked up at Donovan with glare.
“Did he...” Groaning, Donovan got to his feet. “Well, he better apologize or something bad will happen to him.”
“Weawwy?”
“Yes, really.” The devil himself couldn't stand the temper of the leader of Aquarius' and his vengeful wrath was worse. Donovan actually grew scared after hearing those words said through a gritted smile.
“Sorry Angelica...I didn't mean to. You wanna piggyback ride? I'll do it.” Her eyes instantly lit up, the tattle forgotten as she squealed in delight. Donovan got on all fours and rode her around. Only this time, she didn't pull hair. She hugged his neck and laughed.
“Daddy! Daddy! He was just bein' cool. Noffin mean.” That melted the leader's heart. Oh thank the LORD she didn't tell fully. If she got her way, that was. She kissed the teenager's cheek and got off his back after a short while. Crisis averted. For now, at least.
It would be a long, noisy night of a hyper three year old and her father. It was an interesting switch to see him try and be a father, it wasn't fake...for once. It was strange to see the mob boss sit on the floor and play Candy Land.
“Donovan, come play.”
“Pwease Donvan?” Was he being accepted by the spoiled brat of a girl? Possibly. Shrugging he sat down and watched them set up. He picked a green piece. “Leelin can't pway.”
“Why can't he?”
“'Cause he'd not see the cowors.” Cowors...Oh, right. Colors. He saw out of the corner of his eyes, his brother slump and crawl over to Elliot and flop his head in the man's lap. He mewled and wanted petted. It was given to him absently.
“Sooo...how do I play this?”
“You've played Candy Land, Donovan.”
“Uh...no.” There was an exasperated sigh from both father and daughter. It made him feel like an idiot. Elliot explained the rules. And soon the game began. Donovan was in the lead...
“NO NO NO! I WANNA WIN!” Angelica cried out and swiped up a card and whined when she would move only one space.
“Princess, you'll win...” Like Donovan had any say in the matter, the next card he picked put him towards the top. Crap...there were several spaces back with the same red. So, being the smart underling that he was, he took the steps back. Rosencroft nodded like it was the right thing to do. It so happened, Angelica won. She got up and did a little wiggle, childish victory dance. Elliot cheered her on. Damn...even board games were dangerous.
“Sir.”
“Yes, Donovan.”
“I'm getting tired.”
“It's his nap time, Daddy.”
“I know it is, Sweetheart. Go ahead. Take Leolin with you. I don't think I'll be with him tonight.” Leolin was shunned in an instant for this little girl. It affirmed what Donovan had said.
“Yes, sir. C'mon Leolin.” He sighed and shuffled towards the bedroom, away from the noisy child and her spoiled ways. She was a demon just like her father. Leolin crawled after his twin, sullen.
“Daddy why do they look alike?”
“Because, Baby, their brothers.”
“But Leelin's a pup-.” The conversation was drown out when the door was closed to soft mumbles. Donovan sighed and pulled off his shirt. What a stressful night this became. Leolin sat back at the foot of the door and whimpered, tears in his eyes. It hurt to watch, it pulled at his heartstrings...this wasn't cool.
“We're getting out of this, Leo, honest. I want ya, still. C'mon let's get some sleep.” His hands hit the bed in an attempt to get his brother onto it. Leolin crawled to the foot of it and on top and stayed towards the bottom, sobbing and curling up with his thumb in his mouth. He fell asleep almost instantly like that.
Donovan, on the other hand, wiggled underneath the covers and turned off the light and tried to sleep with a sigh. It was not fun to watch his brother's heart break.

Author's Note:

Okay, nothing sexual here for two chapters. *Le Gasp* Anyhow, it'll all play out next one I'm writing. But, how did ya'll like the bratty little girl of Elliot?

This was a hard little bit to write. Anyhow, keep reviewing! I like to hear what everyone thinks.
