Chapter 9

He won't get away with this! Anger. Lots of anger. Nele was angry at himself mostly for not being there to kick that bastard's ass. He had been waiting for that call from Kiyoshi since he left at noon, but by the end of it he was seething. That big dumb fuck from the arcade had actually hurt the guy? How dared he?!

Naturally after hearing that, Nele rushed right over as fast as he could. Although he partly wanted to scope out the arcade to see if that bastard ever showed his ugly face again. Over-reaction? Maybe, but he hardly cared. He wanted Kiyoshi, but another man touched him. Not something he was willing to forgive so easily. He growled at that idea, fighting off a shudder as he knocked on the apartment door.

Oriental pop music was streaming out into the hallway as the door opened, revealing Kiyoshi. He didn't look all that battered apart from a swelling on his chin, which was good. Nele was greeted with a broad smile, quickly let inside as the Japanese closed the door behind him.

Relaxing in the sofa was a fairly large Oriental he didn't think he'd seen before with long, messy black hair. The guy flashed him a vague smile, then leant back again, hands behind his neck as he stretched his legs out. Kiyoshi's roommate - the Chihuahua guy - was enjoying himself with a video game, and didn't spare him a glance. At least there was no sign of the spiky-haired jerk.

"So how's things with you?" Kiyoshi pulled him out of his considerations, wrapping an arm around him and heading for a pair of chairs by the same table the couch was next to. He could feel the Japanese's body heat through his over-sized sweater, unless that was just his imagination. In either case, a pleasant shiver went through him at the touch.

"With me? Fine, I guess..." Nele looked at the others carefully, almost expecting another height-related comment, but decided the others simply weren't going to risk it, so he focused on Kiyoshi once more. "Are you hurt anywhere else? Did you get the fucker's name?"

Kiyoshi raised an eyebrow. "Punched me in the gut too. Doesn't really matter. And no, I don't know his name. The smaller guy is called Jyotis, though. At least that's what the jerk called him." He sighed, then took a seat. "Food will be here in not too long. I hope you like chicken, I made them bring enough for you as well."

"It does too matter! Who the fuck does that pile of cow dung think he is, going around hitting people just because, what, he failed to steal your lunch money the first time?" Anger rising again, but this time he forced it to go down. Last thing he wanted was to add to Kiyoshi's stress, so he swallowed down the string of curses that were due to follow and sat next to the other man instead. His voice lowered to a defeated mutter, "What the hell kind of name is Jyotis, anyway? Sounds like a dick..."

A smile gradually crept upon the Japanese's face, and moments later he leant over to part Nele's lips. The chairs didn't allow for an embrace, but the taste was just as enjoyable as earlier. Kiyoshi gazed contently into his eyes, letting a hand run up Nele's neck, ending with the thumb resting gently behind the ear, the other fingers intertwining with the red hair.

Nele watched Kiyoshi, unsure of how he could possibly say anything after that without sounding like an awestruck moron. He brought an arm around to Kiyoshi's back and glanced over to make sure the other guys still weren't paying attention. "... Well there's a fun way to shut me up."

That comment - or maybe it was the gesture - cheered his companion up a bit, and he was treated to another kiss, this one a quick teasing one on his lips. Then Kiyoshi turned to the figure in the couch. "Choi, would you mind taking the recliner? You can blame me when Luo comes back."

After gazing lazily at them for a few seconds, the messy-haired fellow quirked a grin. "Sure." He shifted over as he was requested, and a moment later, Kiyoshi was tugging Nele with him over onto the couch. Chuckling helplessly, the Japanese nuzzled the redhead's neck, sliding both hands around the smaller body. That was quite a silly mood for someone who'd been roughed up earlier the same day, but it was great to see Kiyoshi enjoy himself.

The door was opened, and soon three people entered, carrying white plastic bags. Kyun lead the way with an arm happily around a purple-haired guy, with that jerk Luo following behind. The smell of chili and garlic filled the room, and a sniff followed by a content sigh was heard from the recliner.

It really did smell good, that couldn't be denied, but Nele was too busy surveying the newcomers to really care about the food. Kyun seemed to be awfully touchy with his friends, but it didn't seem like Luo minded? Shrugging, he flashed a grin at Kiyoshi. "Looks like a full house tonight. If I get into a fight with someone, you'll shut me up, right?"

Kiyoshi grinned back at him, shifting himself closer. Or perhaps more accurately, pulled their bodies more tightly together. His tongue briefly tickled Nele's ear, and he whispered, "oh, I'll shut you up, alright... now if you'd only bend over, there's all sorts of fun we could have later tonight..."

Oh the wonderful things Kiyoshi's words implied. Nele's grin broadened, but he chose not to respond quite yet. Didn't need one of the asses overhearing. Instead, he lifted his hand to his favourite man's cheek, drawing in for another kiss as he carefully avoided the swollen area.

Largely ignoring the couple in the couch, Luo dumped his bag on the table and walked over to the messy-haired guy. "Choi, move." He said through a smirk. Little resulted from that request though, beyond a smile in his general direction. After a playful grumble, the taller Korean went over towards the fridge.

Picking up food had been more amusing than Luo had thought. Being told to come for safety's sake seemed a tad ridiculous, but he hadn't bothered arguing. The little basket fellow from the day before was friendly. Amusement mostly came from the surprise Kyun showed at the kiss he was treated to, though. How could his smaller friend not see that coming? It was a bit strange that someone so capable at getting money out of people didn't understand relationships better. Nothing new though; back in Korea, it was just the same.

At least he was off the grunt work when they got home. Kyun and - Julian, was it? - quickly got to work with putting food on the table. Choi, that bastard, had snagged the recliner! That was where Luo usually sat, and whereas he certainly had the authority to make the guy move, insisting on that would be on the petty side. So he had an excellent choice of seating: Either have the honour of sitting next to the redheaded loudmouth, or split Kyun and Julian up by taking one of the two free chairs. Great...

Two beers in hand, he attempted a longshot bribery. Holding the cold beverage near the overweight slacker, he attempted a half-hearted grin. "Come on, Choi... how about a beer in the couch?"

Choi shrugged, the ever-present smirk widening momentarily. "Talk to Kiyoshi. He doesn't want me there!" He let out a light chuckle, and winked as he nodded over to the pair in the couch, as if Luo wouldn't have noticed there was something between the little lovebirds yet.

The redhead scowled briefly as he visibly sized Luo up. A second later, his attention was on the TV as it became obvious he had every intention of pretending Luo didn't exist. Didn't last long. The critical eyes quickly returned accompanied by a broad smirk. "I'll take that beer, big fella!"

Awesome. Luo sighed, then tossed himself down next to the redhead. The corner of his mouth quirked upwards a little as he dropped the can into the guy's lap. "What's your name, smallie? I believe we weren't introduced..." He said while opening his own beer.

"My name's Johnny Kiss-my-ass to you, dickwad." The redhead popped the can open, took a long gulp and then leaned back, getting comfortable against Kiyoshi. His annoyed glare softened considerably when he looked over to the Japanese. "I should make that my name legally!"

The nerve of that guy! If the situation had been different, he'd have taught the redhead not to call him names. Seemed like too much of a bother, though, so he shrugged it off. There would be time later to set the hierarchy straight if needed. Food was ready and Luo was hungry, so it was an easy priority to make.

Takuya had made his way over to dig some food onto a plate. No place to sit for Mr. Drug Dealer, but the taller Korean suspected he didn't mind - it wasn't too rare for the yellow-haired Japanese to eat in front of the TV. Luo used to resent the short guy for making money on something like that, but they had been living together for a long time and it had eventually faded.

Julian took a seat in one of the chairs, distracted or zoned out for some reason. Wasn't showing as much interest in the food as he had when they were buying it. The reason was made obvious when he covered his mouth and yawned. He gazed around the room absently, lingering on Kyun for awhile before back to the food with a sheepish smile. "I like this place," his voice came out in nearly a whisper. "A lively group..."

Looked like he found the brat. It had been a good idea to send Jyotis to watch that apartment building, even if it wasn't really a big deal and the call from his brother interrupted some much needed time to himself. Ramesh was happy to hear that the annoying redhead had shown up at the foreigners' house, now all he had to do was try to catch that carrot-top elf alone and teach him a little lesson. It was hard to walk down the street without getting noticed because of his size alone, but that was rarely a problem. Usually no one dared mess with him, but not wanting witnesses took a lot more caution.

He parked the car across the street from the foreigners' apartment and climbed out with two large coffees in hand. Couldn't see his brother anywhere, but that didn't mean much. All it took was listening carefully and he heard the flick of the lighter. The doctors had said Jyotis would be incapable of even basic functions, but they were the morons. Ramesh had understood his brother from the beginning, and knew that scrawny pyromaniac understood him. The only problem was trying to teach the guy how not to get himself hurt. Sitting in a bush with a lighter flicking on and off was not a good start.

"Get out of there, idiot." Ramesh watched his brother's blank gaze peek out at him. Might have been cute if it wasn't a full-grown man, but cute or not, the guy wasn't making any move to obey. Okay, so he was having a rebellious day. Sometimes that happened, and typically didn't last long. "Bet you're thirsty, huh? Got some nice hot coffee for ya."

Still no move. Oh well, if the dweeb wanted to sit in a bush all night, so be it. Ramesh crouched down and held out one of the lidded cups to the bush. A boney hand came out and took it, pulling it back into the uncomfortable-looking hidey hole. The sound of a careful slurp followed and then a sigh. "He came alone." Jyotis spoke in a whisper as if afraid someone would overhear. "Then more came with food. I'm really hungry..."

"I'll feed ya later. First we gotta wait here until the brat comes out, and then we're gonna follow-"

"Hey you!" Someone shouted from behind.

Great, they had been caught. Ramesh sighed and looked over his shoulder as he straightened back up. Some guy was crossing the street toward him, but it wasn't anyone he recognized. Maybe just an irritated neighbour, or the targets had sent a friend to welcome them. "What do you want? Can't you see I'm busy talking to this bush?"

The guy stopped a few feet away and gave the bush an odd look. Seemed uncertain about something, but he could hardly be blamed. Not many people found it easy to approach Ramesh. He liked it that way. Soon enough, the guy finally found his words. "You're here for the chinks, right?" The racial slur made the big guy grimace, but the stranger didn't seem to notice. "I've heard about you. You did something for a friend of mine once, and he's been bragging about it ever since. Ramesh Falk, right?"

"Maybe." Ramesh crossed his arms impatiently. He didn't like it when people knew his name, but if necessary, he was sure he could dispose of this twerp. "Unless you're going to tell me what you want, stop wasting my time."

"I'm not wasting your time. I've got money; lots of it." The stranger managed to get the desired attention. He smirked and nodded toward the apartment. "Those dumbass chinamen cheated me out of a thousand bucks. Of course, I can more than afford it, but that's a big enough number to send my pride over the cliff, if you know what I mean. That's not all either... one of them even went and stole my twink."

Annoying. That guy was just plain annoying, but with the right amount of dollar signs, some things could be ignored. "What do you expect me to do about that? I don't do hits motivated by childish pride. At most, I'll rough them up for you."

The guy shook his head. "I don't want them roughed up. I want them to suffer through ten times the humiliation they put me through. I'll pay for anything we need to do it." He paused and stepped back at the glare he was treated to. "This is my pride, so I need to be part of the getting back at them. I wanna see them broken down with my own eyes, not just hear you tell me it's done. I'll help where I can."

"Maybe I can use you." Ramesh smiled sweetly. He didn't typically like working with other people, but it was hard to keep tabs on three people, let alone more, by himself. His brother was only so much help "If I'm going to do this for you, you're going to be my puppet until the job is done. Right now you're going to go get us some food, bitch."
