Jealousy

Bee your review made me laugh so here you go, some more jelousy, just as requested. Hope you like!

Dallon held her like that for a long time, his warm breath fell against her skin and she realized for the first time in her life she belonged somewhere. Until Dallon had passed through the portal she was her father’s little porcelain doll, guarded and protected. She had never even had a boyfriend because of the fear of her father. She had been home schooled through her entire education and was forbidden to go to a college of her choosing, instead studying with Roland. She was sure that if her father knew Roland’s feelings for her he would have him removed. She smiled, if her father could see her now, straddling the lap of a man far more dangerous than Roland.

“What are you smiling about?”

Dallon watched her curiously, his head cocked with an amused look on his face.

“Nothing.”

Dallon laughed a little as she moved off him, his arms finally relaxing to release her.

“Right. Kara I think you should meet with Roland today and talk to him. He’s worried about you.”

She sighed and stood, straightening herself as Dallon watched.

“Alright, I’ll go to his office after we eat.”

Dallon stood, towering over her in the small space of the latrine.

“I can’t allow you to leave the pack. He’ll have to come to you.”

He passed her and left her standing there dumbfounded. How was she going to get Roland to come to her? The others wouldn’t be able to accept him, his personality was too weak. She perked up when she heard the door open, and the sound of the metal tray sliding across the floor. She rushed from the latrine as several others tried to swarm the meat. Dallon was there in an instant, the others squatting down defensively with a few retaliatory growls. Kara forced steel into her veins; it was time for her to establish her place, if she wanted to truly belong. She trotted across the long room, swinging wide of the group to come up by the tray. Layerta was there in an instant, pulling a piece of meat from the pile. Dallon snarled at her, his grey eyes darting to Kara then back to the meat. He wasn’t going to defend her position any longer. Kara growled as loud and as menacingly as she could as she rushed Layerta. The female erected herself, the meat between her teeth as she growled in return. Kara’s strike was unexpected as her fist connected with the side of Layerta’s face. The meat flew from her mouth as her body spun to accommodate the painful swing of her head. Kara shook her hand painfully; she hoped she hadn’t broken anything. She swallowed hard as the female regained herself, Kara was sure she would retaliate but instead she squatted down with the others, blood appearing from the busted skin under her cheekbone. Layerta gave her a cold glare but nothing else. Kara took up a hunk of meat and began to eat, carefully watching the others. Again, she only ate a small portion before leaving. Dallon continued to wolf down his food as she crossed to the observation window. Roland was there watching her, he mouthed words to her that looked as if he was asking if she was alright. She nodded then pointed at him before pointing at the floor in front of her. Roland mouthed why. Kara pointed at Dallon then to herself before pointing to Roland and shaking her head. He sighed and gave her the ok signal. Roland disappeared from the window as Kara trotted to the door. Dallon lifted his head and gazed at her as she stood there waiting, he wiped his mouth along his arm and straightened as the others closed in on the food, squabbling amongst themselves. The door buzzed open as Roland nervously let himself in as Kara swept him away to a secluded corner, Dallon squatted by the door and watched.

“They’re eating right now so they should be pretty distracted; once they’re finished they’ll want to sleep it off so don’t worry about them.”

Roland nodded and tore his eyes away from the eating.

“The analysts want to take one for some blood tests and to put some information on the books about them. Can you talk to one of them?”

Kara nodded.

“Yeah I’m sure I can get Alora to do it, she’s pretty tame. There needs to be more meat at the feedings, they’re not getting enough to sate them all.”

Roland stared at her as she spoke, making her a little uncomfortable. He gave her a visual once over as his brow furrowed.

“What’s that?”

He pointed to her collar bone as she tried to coyly cover the mark Dallon had left.

“It’s nothing.”

“Kara I’m worried about you. This isn’t suitable for you, I know I put you up to this but it’s gone too far.”

She sighed heavily as he took her hand and tried to make her look at him.

“Roland we can learn so much. From what I’ve gathered there’s a whole other world on the other side of that portal, Dallon called it an arc. He said it feeds off the earth’s life and was given to humans at the dawn of time. We can’t stop this now, not when there are so many more questions to ask.”

He pulled her close.

“You can’t withdraw into this way of life completely, you’re not like them, you can’t lose your humanity to these animals.”

She tried to wiggle away from him, to no avail.

“Roland we lost our humanity a long time ago.”

Dallon’s warmth surrounded her as he appeared, his hand lightly going around Roland’s wrist.

“Kara may I speak with him?”

She nodded and pulled her wrist from Roland’s grip, peeking over her shoulder at them curiously as she headed towards the others on the mattresses. Dallon’s voice was low as he leaned in to Roland, his hand closing tightly enough to leave a bruise.

“If you were part of my pack this arm wouldn’t be part of you anymore.”

Roland leaned away from him, unable to escape as Dallon’s claws found his flesh. His cold grey gaze sent chills through him as anger welled up in his chest.

“She’s not yours to control. You have no right to do this to her.”

Dallon smiled.

“She understands our world and our customs. She knows her place and has taken it willingly. It’s you who has no right to control her, everything she has done here she has done of her own willingness.”

Roland pulled away from his grip as Dallon allowed him to leave. He was almost to the door when Dallon called after him.

“Oh Roland.”

The man turned, anger on his face.

“Sleep tight.”

Dallon smiled, his fangs flashing as Roland banged on the door, a handler buzzed him out. Kara trotted over to Dallon as he relaxed his stance and softened towards her.

“What was that all about?”

He caressed her cheek with the back of his hand, a light blush rising to her face. She was so innocent; she made it hard for him to control his carnal urges.

“Nothing, just words of wisdom between males.”
