Sector Eight

Sorry I didn't update last week! I was out and doing stuff and by the time I got home I really didn't feel like turing on my comp. O_O

Just a heads up for this chapter, a few different viewpoints in here and it seems kinda short to me. XD But there are two more chapters after this one and then BG is done.

Sector Eight

Katsu Urijiuka:

I check my watch again and sigh. I should have seen this coming some how. I’m sure those two were up all night. It’s been over an hour since I called them and they should be here by now. My companions are becoming restless as well.

Nui and Isaki sit on the opposite side of the table and watch me wearily. Even though they know the truth now, they’re still sceptical.

I continue to ignore them and sip at my coffee.

“Jay!” Nui stands and rushes to the door, immediately hugging his teammate. “Are you okay? You’re not hurt, are you?”

“No, I’m fine.” Cummings smiles in return and the three head back to the table.

“So, what’d you find out?” Foreman asks, nodding in Nui’s direction.

“Well, this is going to seem farfetched but it is the truth.” They nod at him to continue. “We weren’t born with our powers. We were randomly chosen by an Angel or Demon on the day we claim our powers were activated.

“See, years ago, there were four scientists who wanted to breed people with powers. They didn’t succeed. It is impossible to do such a thing. So, they decided to create people with powers from scratch, basically, play God. Well, there are some beings in this world that didn’t really agree with this. Angels and Demons decided to take advantage of this. They gave random Humans powers and made it seem as if the scientists did this. Then, our president and vice-president, along with the president and vice-president of Thanatos, killed those four scientists and took over their organizations to control the situation.

“Angels and Demons are in a constant war with one another. This is just one of their methods. Apparently, when we put up a barrier, an Angel and Demon watch us fight and wager souls on who they chose to win. Now, since our two teams have been refusing to kill the other, the Angels are setting us up to do just that. Our presidents and vice-presidents gave the kill order to try and trick the Angels and Demons. They knew we wouldn’t actually kill each other.

“So now, our presidents and vice-presidents are not involved. Sure, they order us to kill but if we don’t, they don’t force us. Everything is our choice, our freewill.”

The hacker pauses for a few seconds to let the information sink in.

“I believe that the way to end this is to fight the one who is the leader of all this. And yes, I know who. His name is Adam. He is the Angel of Life, the second Angel to ever be created by God.”

“We are so dead.” Foreman sighs and crosses his arms over his chest. “How exactly are we supposed to fight Angels?”

“If we were Human, I would be worried. However, we aren’t exactly. We have these powers which can’t be taken back. They are ours. We have mastered them. We can do this.”

Nui:

I know they don’t believe me. But when they put up a barrier, they will see the winged-ones I speak of. The Bible teaches us that Angels are graceful, loving beings. But they’re not. How much more of the Bible is lies?

“I need to go tell the others.”

The second I stand from my seat, a barrier comes up around us.

Everyone changes except for Katsu and I.

Isaki’s hair stays the same length but becomes black with ultramarine blue streaks and his eyes become yellow.

We run from the café and onto the street. Isaki keeps me behind him to protect me. I don’t fight. Ever. I’m a pacifist in a way.

The ground starts shaking below us. I grab onto Isaki’s shirt and bury my face into it. I hear them calling to one another but I can’t focus on their words. Iaski turns suddenly and picks me up in his arms. He jumps up from the ground and lands on the roof of the café. He sets me down and places his hands on my cheeks, forcing me to meet his yellow gaze.

“Use your wires to protect yourself and don’t move until I come back.”

I nod once and he crushes his lips to mine. I feel tears building but I refuse to let them fall.

He jumps from the building and I close my eyes. Wires spring forth from the roof and form a protective cocoon around me.

You better not die, Isaki.

Jay Cummings:

I dodge the rolls of cement that come towards me and land on a parked car. Who the hell is doing all this?

Wait…Angels? Demons?

Glancing up…I see them. They’re near the top of the barrier and seem to not notice me watching them. The Angel has three wings flapping gently behind him. The Demon has, or rather had, two. All that’s left is the skeleton. I thought Demons had bat wings. And Angels only had two wings…

What a strange world we live in.

“Jay!” Turning my attention back to the task at hand…behind me!

I turn and see a spike of cement speeding my way.

I can’t dodge this in time.

Roy Foreman:

I almost don’t make it. But I do. I tackle Jay around the waist and we fall hard against the ground. He grunts at the blow and I let out a sigh of relief.

The cement spike pivots and flies back our way.

“Damnit!”

A small marble passes before my line of vision. It explodes the second it hits the spike. Dust and debris flow around us. Hmm…guess I forgot how good he really is in a fight.

“Roy.” He grabs the front of the jacket and glares at me. “Use your Telepathy and find this bastard before we all get killed.”

I love it when he’s pissed. His cheeks are flushed the same way as if he were turned on.

“Roy!”

“Alright, alright, damn.” I get up off of him and pull him up too.

I glance around us. The buildings. The cars. Nothing. I let out an aggravated sigh and kick a few pebbles with my shoe. The ground rumbles back at me.

“Now don’t that beat all.” I kneel down on one knee and place one hand on the ground.

Closing my eyes, I search out the target. The bastard has been hiding underground. Not that difficult with his power. I find him and simulate me finding him and cracking his neck. The rumbling stops and I open my eyes.

“What did you do?” Jay helps me stand up this time and I lean heavily against him.

“I made him think I killed him. The mind is a very impressionable thing.”

“Come on, we need to get out of here.” He drags me over to a car the second the barrier goes down.

I don’t know where everyone else is but I can’t try to find them yet either. I need sleep.

We somehow get me into the passenger side and Jay drives off. I wonder where we’re going this time?

“My place. It’s familiar so we’ll have a better shot if someone sneaks up on us again.”

Did I say that out loud?

“No. But I guess you really must have fucked up your head this time. I can hear everything your thinking.”

I really need to shut down then.

I close my eyes and slow my breathing down. For some reason, sleep always tends to fix my brain. Lucky, ain’t I.

Jay says something but I can’t make out the words.

Jay Cummings:

“No, I’m the lucky one.”

If it wasn’t for you, I would be dead right now.

Thinking about it…only a few days ago we were at each others throats.
Well, me at yours. You never really did have any intention of ever killing me, did you? And now, after only a hand full of days…

“I somehow seemed to have fallen in love with you.”

I guess there really is a thin line between hate and love.

So...hmm...I gotta update my story list on my blog now. C-ya guys next week!
