......................................................................
Ainu was grateful that nobody seemed to give Cortax a chance to be alone with him from that awful day on. Either his father would keep him company or Faye would. Syrus always kept his distance so that no one would notice the change in their relationship but even Syrus’ distance was watchful, not a single movement of Cortax’s escaped his eye.
It was about three weeks after the incident in the bathing chamber and Ainu was often to be found in Faye’s company in the library. Faye was very keen on the library for reasons Ainu could not fathom but he also knew that Cortax avoided the library like the plague which was enough incentive for Ainu to spend most of his time there, especially in the company of someone he had soon become fast friends with.
“You’re looking a bit pale this morning Ainu, maybe you should have slept a few hours longer. You needn’t have got up to keep me company in the early hours of the morning.”
“I couldn’t sleep anyway, I was sick again this morning. I must have eaten something funny.” He curled up on the soft chair which had fast become his favourite place.
“You were sick? Have you been to see the healer?” She gave Ainu a concerned look.
“No I haven’t, it’s probably just an unsettled stomach.” Faye frowned at him, her lavender eyes narrowing.
“So you were sick just once this morning?” Ainu nodded, keeping his eyes glued to his hands that were nervously clutching at the soft fur that was covering the chair he was sitting on. “You weren’t were you? I did think you were looking slightly off the last few mornings. How often have you been sick Ainu?”
“The last few mornings. I didn’t think much of it; I haven’t really been able to keep anything much down.”
“Oh Ainu, if you’re sick you should be in bed and not sitting here in the library with me. I’m taking you to the healer; maybe he can give you something to settle your stomach.” He wanted to protest but Faye had already pulled him up and was dragging him down the corridor to the healer’s quarters.
She spend at least fifteen minutes bossing the healer about and trying to get something to settle Ainu’s stomach who kept insisting he had probably just eaten something funny that was still disagreeing with, he never had been one for seafood. It had all ended with the fact that he had been prescribed bed rest and magnesium to take.
Faye had tucked him into bed and brought some books to read while she kept him company.
“What are you researching Faye?”
“Your family. Your mother’s family. It seems they were powerful mages, whose sons were given the gift of child birth to keep the magic strong and flowing. Their element was fire, which explains why you managed to fry the old slime ball. And don’t you tell me that is no word for a lady because that is exactly what he is.” Ainu smiled but his face turned quickly pale as he jumped out of bed and rushed to the bathroom. He proceeded to retch his guts out. “AINU!” Faye rushed to his side and stroked his back in gentle circles. After Ainu seemed to have stopped his retching, she fetched a wet cloth and cleaned his face. “Oh Ainu, you really have caught something it seems. Can you get up?” Shaking his head, Ainu clutched onto Faye’s arms for dear life, his legs felt like they were going to give way.
Placing a hand on Ainu’s stomach Faye pulled him up and led him back to the bed. Funny, she thought, he seems to have put on weight even though he’s retching his heart out. Her eyes widened in shock.
“Ainu!”
“Mmmh?” He closed his eyes and curled in on himself.
“Ainu are you pregnant?!” She stared at the blonde haired prince, shock evident in her eyes. He sat up with a start and stared at her, large emerald eyes frightened.
“Pregnant? How? I can’t be Faye I haven’t been with anyone.” He couldn’t look her in the eyes though but it couldn’t have happened, that one time with Syrus. He hadn’t thought about it at the time, it was rare to become pregnant after the first time, the right spot had to be stimulated and hit. His eyes grew larger as he thought of what this would imply.
“You have been with someone! Who? Who was it Ainu? If someone took you against your will…” He shook his head, tears prickling the back of his eyes. He was pregnant with Syrus’ child and there was no way he would be allowed to be with him and if Cortax found out he would be dead. And then….thankfully his brain decided to shut down and he fainted.
Faye wasn’t sure what she should do, she couldn’t tell anyone about what she’d found out, not until Ainu woke up again. She placed a cool cloth on his forehead and mused about what to do next when one particular book caught her eye. It was small and blue and thin; it seemed to have slipped out of one the bigger books. It was written in ancient elvish, but the title caught her attention, ‘Magical mortals and elven bonding ceremonies’. Faye picked it up and was soon lost in deep concentration.
A shout of triumph echoed through the halls of the castle. Faye raced along the corridors, skirts billowing out behind her, arms waving madly around her head.
“I’ve got it! I’ve got it!” Her race was abruptly brought to an end as she crashed into Syrus who was just coming round the corner to have a listen at Ainu’s door. “Oh Syrus. Oh I’m sorry but I have great news! Wonderful news!” She waved the little blue book under Syrus’ nose. “I must get to King Apol at once! You can come too!” Syrus had no chance to reply when his arm was grabbed and he was unceremoniously dragged towards the king’s bedroom.
“Faye…Faye…Faye will you just wait for a minute and explain to me what is going on?” A wicked smile graced her lips.
“All in good time my dear Syrus, all in good time.” Syrus really did not like the tone her voice had taken on, from experience he could say that usually it meant that Faye was up to no good or had at least found some wicked way to bend a usually unbendable rule. He wasn’t sure which of the two it was, but he wasn’t sure either whether he would like either.
They arrived at King Apol’s bedroom door where Faye just pushed the door open not bothering to knock. The king’s head snapped up frowning at the interruption and Syrus stared at his father, shock was probably a word that was too mild to explain what he was feeling right now. His father raised himself from where he was kneeling, if the position wasn’t enough to give away what they had been doing, then King Apol’s burgeoning arousal sure did, it was however covered quickly much to both Syrus’ and Faye’s relief.
“What did you two want?” The Elvin King asked rather testily. Faye was the first to rediscover her tongue.
“I wanted to speak to King Apol about his son and your son’s relationship.” Syrus glared heatedly at Faye, he really did not think that this was the time to annoy his father further.
“My son and Prince Ainu do not have a relationship! It is forbidden, my son knows not to disobey me, a relationship with a mortal well of all the ridiculous things…” Faye coughed and glanced pointedly at the Elvin King who, thinking about the position he was caught in decided it was best to keep quiet. Faye coughed and gestured for all three men to settle down.
“Now the thing is, I have been researching Ainu’s family history and have come across this most interesting book.” She waved it for all three men to see. “I’m glad you are all here, it saves me the trouble of having to repeat myself.” The elf lady smiled smugly and he lavender eyes dance wickedly. “Ainu and Syrus are in love, for any of us who are not completely ignorant or just choose to ignore such details,” the two kings had the grace to blush and Syrus fidgeted with his hands. “Now I know all about our laws and traditions, but Ainu can bear children so that should be one problem out of the way.”
“WHAT?!” The Elvin King and his son stared at the honey haired woman in shock.
“You didn’t know?” Faye raised a questioning eyebrow at King Apol who muttered something about having forgotten it. “Well now you do and I quote from this book,” she coughed and opened the book dramatically, “as I said I quote ‘Elves do not bond outside their own species, because they are the only species that are immortal. However this rule seems to have changed during the time of the old wars when magical mortals married into the elven community. It seems that when embraced, the mortal’s magic joins with the elf’s inner flame making both married partners live as long as the one with elven blood.” Faye closed the book smugly and watched the dawning realisation cross the faces of the two kings and the Elvin prince.
“But that means that I could…and Ainu could….and….” Syrus shut his mouth with a snap, he was babbling, and that was not very becoming of a prince.
“There is still the problem of my son’s engagement. We need a more plausible reason to break of the engagement now, especially since my country would be attacked as soon as King Thorax found out about the breakage in the agreement.” Faye smiled again.
“Perhaps we should all go and see Ainu, I’m sure he has something to tell us as well.” And with that she led the way back to Ainu’s room, followed by three more or less shocked and curious men.

Reike: Yeah i decided to put that little scene in, because I wanted people to understand the dilema Ainu's father is in. He does love and cherish his son a lot though, so don't you worry EVERYTHING will sort itself out. I just finished reading your lovely story so. Here was more for you too.
Zelassi: Wasn't taken as rude, I just thought I'd point it out that it isn't my first language and that the english language differentiates in spelling very much when it comes to different countries. I'm hoping you still like the story though ^_^!
Laith: My brilliant little muse. I'm glad you like King Apol because he's a good man and he deserves to be liked I'm trying to put depth into this story, I dont want it to be just a sex fic, since this will probably be quite long. Do you realise you're hte only person who picked up on the Syrus thing, that its him watching Ainu and not some sick pervert, because there were still feelings there. Obviously when they were younger it was just friendship but when he heard about the engagement and later saw him and the bastard together, he realised that there was more there. And no Cortax is only interessted in his own wants and needs. He's a complete arsehole I shall try to keep your heart melting. I hope you like Faye too.
Chibi-Berry: You're very welcome. Now I'm not too mean to my characters so no...it is not Cortax's child as you have noticed. Hope to keep your addiction going.
Jae: Glad you like Faye, she's lovely isn't she. Syrus' best friend and worse then a maternally enraged gorilla when it comes to the crunch as you will see...later.
bambi4real: Yes the springs scene was meant to be HOT! I think its the best sex scene so far that I've written. I'm so glad you enjoy the story.
HUGS FOR ALL!!!!
