The Blood Of Three Kings

What an evening. What a day. What a supper. Silvan, Serenity, Sarai and Kristian were welcomed with the company of the lady Veleska during dinner. She was Tamin’s dinner guest. They all had very pleasant conversation over that dinner. It was surprising to Serenity really. The way everyone acted before? They were all so interested in if she was pregnant that they hardly thought of other things. Now it was like they had completely moved on. That or they actually matured a little and decided they would wait for when she was ready.

She wasn’t so sure that she was just yet though. She told Silvan. She knew how she felt but there was the unknown of her mother. She would for sure blow up and say I forbid you to go if she knew. Her thoughts turned from their care free state to a more worried state again. She didn’t notice the eyes on her now. Everyone was just kind of watching her.

“My lady?” Veleska stood. “I think I will escort her to her chambers. You all please enjoy. I am sure you still have much to speak to King Silvan about.”

“I can take her.” Silvan looked up. “I have a feeling I know what has her so lost in thought.”

“It is alright.” Veleska smiled.”May I join you later on for desert Tamin?”

“Oh yes. Of course Veleska.” Tamin grinned. “I will have them save some cream tarts.”

Silvan shook his head. He didn’t want to stay here alone! His mother in law would for sure start questioning him. Veleska chuckled and pulled a quiet Serenity from her chair and to the doors. Serenity was too far gone in thoughts to really pay attention.

“Really it is okay. Besides I was hoping to get to speak to her alone before you left tomorrow morning.” Veleska gave Silvan a reassuring nod. “Do not worry.”

“I suppose. Let me know if she is alright after okay?”

Silvan sighed. He was going to have to face all the parental units alone. Veleska grinned and the door closed behind them leaving poor Silvan to the curious eyes and questions of his father and his in laws.

“Serenity?” Veleska looked to the quiet teen.”My lady please.”

“Huh?” Serenity looked up. Wait. Where was she? She was in the hall walking to her room? “Oh! Lady Veleska I..”

“It is okay. You zoned out at the dinner table. I offered to walk you to your room. You need the rest anyways in your condition.” Veleska knew? “You shouldn’t stress your self out so much my lady. Its not good for the children.”

“You...k...Know?” Serenity’s cheeks lost all color. “H..how? I didn’t tell anyone! Did Healer Jacard tell you?”

“Serenity come on. The goddess is a part of me. I knew a long time ago that you were. I just chose not to say anything.” Veleska smiled. “You have been this way for nearly two months. I am going to take a good guess and say you and your husband were very true to your honeymoon.”

“Oh..” Serenity bit her lip and blushed. “I suppose we really should have taken more precautions if we didn’t want it to happen.”

“I think you did secretly. Having a family is a very large step for a couple. You are also embarking on a most dangerous journey knowing of your condition. I have to ask if you have really thought this through.” Veleska pushed The room doors open for her. “Please do not think I am trying to lecture or pressure you either. I am concerned. That is all.”

“I know. I have thought about it. I do not want Silvan to have to undertake this alone. I am his wife and I want to be by his side. Also I know that ....That..” She looked down. Serenity only nudged forward slightly when the door closed behind her. “I know that she is still out there and I think she..wants Silvan. When she called him hers that night? I have been having dreams. No I have been having nightmares about it. I would wake up and find him dead with a message written in blood. I just can’t let him go alone! I have to help protect him.”

“I see.” Veleska nodded and hmmd. “With your mental abilities developing as they are you have powers that I am sure The chaos maiden does not know about. You are probably tapping into her thoughts of what she would like to do to you.”

“See? It is important I go. I do not want him to have to face that crazed lunatic alone.” Serenity looked up at him. “I would die for him.”

“I know you would but lets try and avoid that if we can okay sweety?” Veleska touched Serenity’s right upper arm softly. “I am going to give you something that I think will help you along your way. The goddess agrees that I should give you this as well.”
“Give me what?” Serenity looked into her eyes. Veleska had very beautiful eyes. “I appreciate anything you do for us naturally.”

“It is a staff. It can be used to focus your abilities into a power. It could be a defense between you and the maidens. Remember Serenity. Protect your husband with your heart.” Veleska backed away from her slowly. “Your love and spirit are the most powerful thing you possess. Just as his love and spirit for you remains strong. Together you are one.”

“I will Veleska.”

Serenity looked at her arm where Veleska’s hand had previously been. A silver and platinum arm band was there. It wrapped around and was in the shape of twin dragons. At the center of the jaws was a aurora borealis gem stone. Inside the stone was the Yin/yang sign of harmony. Serenity gasped in surprise. It was beautiful but this was not a staff.

“Veleska?”

“It is a staff My lady. Just call to it from your mind and it will appear for you.” Veleska nodded. “Go ahead. Try.”

“A..alright.” Serenity looked unsure at first but she trusted Veleska ”A staff. A staff. “

“You’re doing it!” Veleska grinned. She shifted barely and pointed to the slight glowing in Serenity’s hand. “Concentrate. You also send the staff back into its arm band form the same way.”

“I..” Serenity looked wide eyed at the dragon bodied staff. The twin bodies intertwined and twirled around one another till they reached the top where there jaws held the larger gem. It was thin enough to comfortably hold in her hand.”Its beautiful.”

“Harmony and love. That is the twin dragons name. They will grant you their powers to help protect you and your love along the way.”

“So all I do is talk to them using my mind?” Serenity looked up.”Like telepathy?”

“Exactly Serenity. You will find they can do many things to help. Keep them close. The guardians are trusting you with their children.” Veleska smiled still. “I know you will do us all proud.”

“Thank you.”

The staff shimmered back into an arm band around Serenity’s arm. Veleska nodded and moved to the door now. She had a desert date to get to.

“You get some rest. I am sure King Silvan will be in here shortly.” Veleska smirked. “I have to go and see Lord Tamin about desert now.”

“That is so romantic. I hope you two get together.” Serenity chuckled. “I think it would be neat to have an Avatar for a mother in law. “

“Oh You!” Veleska laughed. “Go now and get some rest. You have a early day.”

“Yes Ma’am.” Serenity stepped back. “Please tell Silvan to come in if he is ready.”

“No worries Serenity.”

The door closed behind the beautiful Veleska. Serenity sighed happily and plopped down on her bed. She mmd and laid back thinking. She had a good feeling about things now. Things had to work out for them. She felt too good inside for them not to. The whole time her hands caressed over her stomach absently. She really did want to give Silvan a family and be there to help protect him.

“Someone is glowing.”

“Silvan?” Serenity looked up.”I didn’t even hear you enter.”

“Veleska said you were resting so I thought I would come and rest with you.”

His eyes stopped on the arm band. Silvan looked to her. She already knew what he was going to ask. Serenity sat up and scratched the little dragons ears.

“Veleska gave it to me. She said the goddess told her I should have it.” Serenity looked up. “ They are guardians and well.. I..They are letting me take them along with us to help protect us.”

“I will protect you my love.” Silvan scooted onto the bed beside her.”You don’t need to worry about that.”

“Yes I Do!” Serenity looked at him. “I do have to worry. I am not going just to keep you company Silvan Demetrious. We are husband and wife. You are strong and I am glad you are here to protect me but I am also here to protect you. There are things out there that we could not possibly know about. We both must be ready for anything. We must be ready together.”

“I know Serenity. I just. “Silvan sighed and hugged her to him. “I just want to be the one that always protects you. I love you.”

“You will be Silvan and I love you.” She rested her cheek against his chest. “You just have to accept that I am also going and that I am going to help. “

“We can not fail.” Silvan smiled. “With both of us together, only a fool would dare stand to stop us.”

“You bet your handsome ears you’re right.” Serenity grinned. “Now how about we get good and tired before we go to bed tonight?” Serenity was already unbuttoning his coat. “Hmm?”
“You have my complete and full attention.”

Silvan pushed him self more beside her. Her fingers worked to remove the clothing articles that stood in her way. Ah to be young and have that much energy. Their honeymoon never really stopped after all. They just switched locations and continued it there.
