Time to Think

*Okay, there was a slight processing malfunction. There was supposed to be a chapter between A Heated Moment and Betrayed, and I\'m positive I typed it because I was late for class trying to get it out. But, I\'m glad I write this stuff down before it goes up so I can re-type it. Sorry if the story got a little confussing, there was a whole chapter missing. But, here it is now.

\"What just happened?\" Marcus asked as he pushed his way into the kitchen. \"I saw V leave. She looked pissed.\"
Jason was a little shocked from the conversation that just took place. And people were slowly filing out of the kitchen, mumbling and shaking their heads.

\"I opened my stupid mouth and my foot flew right in.\" Jason said as he looked on the counter. He saw a red cup full of someone\'s drink. He quickly picked it up and chugged it. \"Who\'s was that?\" Marcus asked, looking suspisiously at the cup. \"I don\'t know. It was some nasty shit though. I hope it kills me.\"
\"Look man, maybe you should go home. Take my car. I met this little cutie and I can catch a ride with her.\" Marcus said, holding his keys out for Jason.

\"Naw, I think I want to walk.\"
\"What? Man we\'re 6 miles away from your house and it\'s raining.\"
\"It\'s cool. I need to walk.\" And with that, Jason walked out of the kitchen leaving his friend behind. He stepped out of the house and was greeted by the cool air and wet drops. He headed out to the side walk and began his journy home. He inhaled the crisp, wet air and felt his mind clear instantly. It was refreshing to be out of the hot party house and out of his own house. Being in the rain almost made all of his problems disappear. He forgot about Marcus, Alex, school, everything. He almost forgot about Veronica. But just mentioning her name brought her back to the front of his mind.

Her brown hair always smelled like citrus. And it was so funny how she could never get it completely straight, no matter how hard she tried. It never surprised him how forgiving and caring she could be. That was obvious when it came to her and Alex. And now he saw her walking around with a dog. It looked like an attack dog, but acted like a little kitten. It was always so playful and happy. Jason knew that was her doing. He loved the way she was never afraid the pull out her glasses if she couldn\'t see something. She seemed ageless. Sometimes she acted like an 18 year old, but somethimes she was like a 30 year old business woman or a 60 year old grandmother, or even like a 9 year old again; wanting to sleep outside and climb trees. He gave a deep sigh as he looked up from his thoughts.

\"Fuck!\" he said, out loud, realizing he had passed his house about a block ago. He jogged back to his house, ready to get out of the rain. He was soaked and freezing. He fumbled with his keys outside his door before finding the right one and pushing his way in. The house was completely dark. No one at home. He stomped his feet a couple of time, to get the water off, and headed toward the stairs. As he climbed the staris he noticed his light was on from under the crack of his door.

\"What the hell?\" he mumbled to himself, reaching the top of the stairs. He put his hand on the knob and hesitated before opening it. Sitting at his desk, looking at childhood pictures, was Veronica. She looked up at him as he stood in the doorway and quickly looked away. He noticed that she was wearing one of his shirts and a pair of his boxers and that her hair was damp and pulled back into a bun. \'She must have gotten in through the window\' he thought.

Suddenly he heard a sniffle and looked back to see her tiny frame shaking violently. Forgetting about the wet clothes he had on, he quickly rushed to her. \"Ronnie, what\'s wrong?\" He asked, kneeling next to her. \"If it\'s about what happened at the party, I am so sorry. I was upset...I didn\'t mean...\" Veronica cut him off by shaking her head. She turned to look at him and he noticed how red her eyes were. \'She must have been crying before I got here.\' She took a deep breath \"Something happened...something....bad.\" she said, choking back tears. \'Alex!\' Jason thought to himself.

*Okay, this was kinda short, sorry about that. But, ta-da, heres the missing chapter! Ya!*
