Honey
This was written over the course of two days and DAMN did it make me hungry. And craving of what they're making. It delves into Ashun a bit, and at the same time, goes about the every day sort of life of Sidhe at the end. This dinner and the day Rel's had will actually become routine for him. Well... for a bit. I've been wondering for a while how Una will play into the story, wondering if he will come about or even if he should be part of the story. Una is a character I love poking and playing because he is so very willing to replay a scene over if I'm not liking it. Especially the specific scene I'm talking about. Everyone else was meh about it and I had to keep switching them around to get the right combination. But yes, I will be needing Una and I'd actually enjoy seeing him slap some of the priest lines around. Or. Seduce them. He'd really do either of those. As per... Shoe's? Comment about the stories ending very shortly, no. While Partners will begin to wind down, it's not as quick to end as I thought it was going to be. And Sequel goes on for a while before Partners ends so... there's still time. I miss questions on the forum. Anytime I'm bored, I check the forum. So if you haven't joined already, go on over there. You can ask me basically anything, and if I know the answer I'll tell you. Like... what is up with Ashun? I think I've finally managed to wring it out of her. Oh, and if you read Partners as well, head on over to the reviews if there is specific toy/position/bottom/top you'd like to see between Mik and Paw. The one I've gotten already was actually my fall back on one, if I didn't hear from anyone or what you all wanted. So good to see I can at least write something interesting still. Read, Review and Enjoy. As soon as the first batch of cookies came out of the oven, Muan was there, sniffing over Rel’s shoulder and even trying to grab one off of the cookie sheet. When Ashun had said cookies, Rel had foolishly thought she was going to make chocolate chip or peanut butter. What they had actually done was, basically, make chocolate chip cookies without the chocolate chips. Which were the best part, but when Rel had mentioned that they didn’t have the necessary chocolate chips, Ashun had huffed and asked who would want those ‘damnable’ things anyhow? Muan burnt himself, stuffing a cookie into his mouth. The Sidhe moaned, eyes watering up as he spat the still gooey cookie into his hands and then dropped it on the floor because it was still too hot for him to handle. Muan almost immediately stuck his head under the tap in the kitchen sink, letting the water wash over his tongue. “That was stupid,” Ashun muttered, scooping up the half chewed cookie with a dust pan, “should have told him it was hot, well. Live and learn.”Muan obviously didn’t think so, because as soon as the Sidhe calmed down, having healed himself, Rel wondered? The male immediately tried to scoop up another and stuff it into his mouth as well. Ashun quickly snatched the cookie away from Muan and dropped it back on the sheet before she shook her finger at him and launched into Sidhe. Muan looked from the cookie, to Ashun and back again, cringing away from the shaking finger even as he whined and begged for a treat. Rel took the cookies from the sheet to a cooling rack with a spatula and then dropped more cookie dough onto the sheet and popped it into the oven. The place, despite the lack of chocolate chips, smelled of chocolate chip cookies. It was quite a pleasant aroma, he had to admit. Once the second batch was in the oven and the timer had been reset, Rel opened the freezer door and peered inside. “What do we want for supper?” he asked Ashun. “Fish?” She said hopefully. At which point every Sidhe in the apartment looked at Rel with wide, hopeful eyes. Totally unreasonable, Rel thought to himself, as Osht and Raoh had been in the middle checking each other for ticks and really should not have been paying that much attention to the cookie making. He still did a check of the freezer and shook his head. “No fish in the freezer. We’ve got chicken. Pork. And … I think this is beef.”“Deer, actually,” Ashun sighed, “chicken will do. All fancied up, maybe it won’t taste like last year’s rations reconstituted.”Reconstituted was a word for flash frozen foods, not exactly something Rel expected to be in a Sidhe’s natural vocabulary. The word implied that Ashun had eaten something that could be brought back to its original state and dried foods didn’t exactly do that. They achieved something similar to their natural state but really it was more of just mush at that point. Or chewy, juicy something-er-rather that had almost no taste whatsoever. “I’ll make lemon thyme chicken,” Rel grinned, pulling the bag of chicken from the freezer.“What is with Aniege and lemon? It’s like catnip to cats or chocolate to people females.”“Not all people females think chocolate is like catnip,” Rel muttered under his breath. “Tuhn does.” Ashun responded sweetly, “but she also hates lemon, so maybe it won’t taste so bad.”He dropped the chicken in the sink with a thump and glared at Ashun before he folded his arms and stared at her. She completely ignored him as she dumped the half chewed cookie into the garbage bin and put the dustpan away. Ashun returned to the kitchen a moment later and hopped onto the counter, sitting there and crossing her legs before she looked at Rel.“What?” She sighed out. “Reconstituted is not a word a Sidhe would use.”“Shit,” Ashun muttered, looked away, “leave it to you to find something out of place and pick at it. Even Paw doesn’t pick at it when I make mistakes like that.”“You are Sidhe, right?” Rel wondered about it.“Of course I am,” Ashun snapped angrily before she too a deep breath and let it out slowly, closing her violet coloured eyes, “genetically speaking. I am Sidhe through and through. Sidhe and power are in my blood and my soul.”“Mincing words, seriously?”“Fuck off Rel, I don’t want to talk about it.”“Alright,” Rel murmured as the timer went off, “but you could have just said back off.”“That’s what a Sidhe means when she minces words,” Ashun snapped back, hopping off the counter. Muan, having watched this entire encounter between Rel and Ashun, snatched a cookie off of the cooling rack and stuffed the entire thing in his mouth, chewing as his swirled eyes darted between the young man and woman. Rel moved the hot cookies to the cooling rack and refilled the sheet before putting it back into the oven and resetting the timer. He batted away Muan’s hand when the Sidhe reached for another cookie, to which Muan shrugged and opened the fridge. The Sidhe pulled out an orange and bit right into the thing. Unpeeled. As Muan seemed not to notice the bitter taste of orange peel, Rel pretended not to have seen the Sidhe do something that seemed to be an absolutely crazy thing to do. The rest of the orange quickly followed the first bite. Once the fruit was gone, Ashun sighed out. “Why not eat honey?” Ashun said to Muan, “people collect it in huge factories and we might as well eat it while it’s available.”“Ho-ney? Huuuhhhney.”Ashun sighed and flowed past Rel as if he didn’t exist. She tugged open the fridge and pulled out the bottle of honey. The bottle, she waggled in front of Muan’s face before pointing at the name, clearly printed at the top of the label. Muan leaned close and peered at the bottle. “Tea,” Muan muttered, straightening before he reached for the kettle.“No.” Ashun sighed again, “why would you think this is only for tea?” Rel glanced at the label, “because there’s a couple drinking tea on the label and it says right there below the name that it’s great for tea.”“Argh, males.” Ashun popped the top open, tilted her head back and poured the golden ooze into her mouth. Personally Rel had never seen the point of honey. In tea, yes, it was quite a bit better than sugar and, of course, it was better for a person to eat than the processed sugars. But it tasted like. Like… sparkles going off inside his mouth. And then the buzz? No way would he pour honey into his mouth, let alone swallow it. Ashun swallowed, causing Rel to grimace, and held the honey out to Muan. Muan took it, looked puzzled and turned to Rel for direction. Rel could only shrug and turn to the sink to fill it with water to thaw the chicken out. Personally? No way, no how. But for a Sidhe. “There. See? Isn’t that much… uhoh…”Rel turned back to Ashun and Muan as Muan’s lips screwed up in an odd little smile and the Sidhe’s head cocked to the side. “What uh-oh? No uh-oh,” Rel snapped.“His pupils just like doubled in size.”Muan opened the fridge, dropped the honey into the door and walked off towards the plants as if nothing was wrong. Rel shrugged it off and poked the chicken. The male returned a moment later and held out a sprig of something to Rel. He accepted it with a small, hollow smiled and sniffed the sprig. It almost smelt like…“Thyme, that’s called thyme,” Ashun murmured, “he wants you to use real herbs.”“Very well,” Rel murmured. He went about the process of making supper. Ashun finished backing the last batch of cookies and turned up the oven for him before she shuffled the cooled cookies to a plate and covered it with plastic container. The chicken went into the oven and a pot for rice went atop the stove. Beside it, Rel pulled out a small pot for a vegetable, but at Ashun’s look, he pulled out a pot the same size as the rice pot. Carrots went into the vegetable pot, mainly because it was all that was left in the fridge. Koln hadn’t made a deposit of food in a while… Ashun set the table as Muan paced around it and watched where each plate and fork went. Raoh pulled out milk and poured a glass for each of them as Osht cut bread and cheese. Once the table was set, Ashun wandered over the plants with a drinking cup and made a little bouquet that she set in the center of the table. They all sat down at the table and waited for Rel to choose his food before they filled their own plates. Rel ate and went back for more chicken and rice and once he sat down for that, the Sidhe emptied the pots onto their plates. The bread and cheese, while a slice of bread and a few slices of cheese were slid onto his plate, were divvied up quickly. At the end of the meal the bouquet was picked apart and eaten by the Sidhe. It was a huge meal. Muan and Osht did the dishes while Ashun pulled out the cookies and began breaking several of them up into bite sized pieces. Raoh straightened the apartment and Rel stayed out of everyone’s way. Dessert was served after the dishes were done and the apartment was cleaned. A carefully measured portion of ice cream with the bite sized pieces of cookie sprinkled over top. So. Good. After dessert, Raoh did the dishes and they all shuffled to the living room where Osht pulled Rel into his lap and cuddled him. There was quiet talk and as the night wore on, Rel drifted in and out of sleep. Sated, content, warm and protected, Rel fell asleep without any conscious effort or attempt on his part. A first, for him. .
