Chapter Seven: A Confession of Love
The Next Day
Monica quietly watched Kagami as he silently ate his breakfast. Nagami wasn’t awake yet, which was a little odd. Kagami normally woke his brother up, but today he was just so distant. By the time Nagami finally came out to the kitchen, it was already time to leave for school. “Kaga, why didn’t you wake me?” he asked, yawning loudly as he put on his jacket.
“I don’t need to wake you,” Kagami snapped. “You should be able to wake up on your own, you drunken idiot.”
Rolling his eyes, the other boy said, “Look, I thought it would help me feel better.”
“More like make you do something taboo,” Kagami mumbled, unaware that Nagami had actually caught that comment.
“Taboo?” His eyes widened a bit. “Did I do something??”
Kagami just walked outside, not wanting to discuss it with him. Sure, Nagami had started to do something, but then he passed out on top of him. Kagami could still smell the strong stench of the alcohol, feeling so disgusted by it. He never thought that his brother would even try such a thing, drunk or sober. This really shocked and hurt him, feeling as though he was betrayed by his only brother. But at the same time, he felt betrayed by himself…
His body had actually reacted to his brother’s caresses, the kiss that froze him… he wanted more of it. These desires just confused him more though, and he hated it. Nagami didn’t even remember anything! Though, he probably shouldn’t have been so surprised by that result… Nagami had been pretty wasted.
Still… did Kagami actually wish that his brother remembered?

Nagami just stood in the living room, his mind and heart both racing. He had done something last night. Apparently something very, very bad. He tried to think of the possible events that could have taken place. He was still wearing his clothes from yesterday when he woke up this morning, so there was no sex with anyone. Kagami was mad as hell at him. Taboo… taboo…
Nagami smacked himself in the face. Fucking idiot!! he thought to himself. There was only one thing he could think of that would cause this kind of reaction. He had actually kissed Kagami. Now after seeing his twin’s reaction, he knew that the other boy didn’t feel the same way.
This was something that he often thought was true, and today just proved it. Kagami didn’t love him that way, more like only as a brother or best friend. He felt hurt by this realization, by all of it. He never wanted to do something to his brother while drunk. If he was going to do anything at all, then it would have been during a more romantic event between the two of them.
Silently, he started walking Monica to school. How was he going to face Kagami now? Things were never going to be the same between them again. He had ruined any possible chance of having a real relationship with his brother due to his own stupidity. What was he going to do now?

As the two of them walked home later that day, Nagami tried to think of something to say, just to break the uneasy silence that formed around them. “Listen, Kaga,” he said quietly, “I’m really sorry for getting drunk last night…”
“Yeah, yeah,” replied Kagami. “I know you’re sorry. Just don’t drink ever again, will ya?”
“I won’t, don’t worry about that.” After a moment more, he added, “Sorry for kissing you…”
“W-what?” Kagami stopped right in his tracks, staring at his twin. He had thought that Nagami totally forgot about the whole thing. But since he remembered it… “Why did you do it then?”
Nagami just sighed at first. That definitely proved that he had kissed him then. “I was really stupid, I’m sorry. But, it’s something I always have to fight so hard not to do.” He looked into Kagami’s eyes. “Don’t you ever feel it, Kaga? Ever??”
Hesitating, Kagami glanced away. “Feel what?” he calmly wondered.
“That damn connection… the lure that pulls us together. Kagami, I love you.” And he froze. Those words that he normally used for both siblings felt like weights as he spoke them now. They would be the things that pulled him down most, drowning him in a pit of despair. He desperately hoped that his brother wouldn’t hate him for this.
“You… love me?” Kagami looked at him once more. His eyes seemed so uneasy. “You actually love me?”
“Kagami… yes.” Nagami went to him, his hands on his brother’s shoulders. “I love you so much. I can’t just stay away from you. I can’t keep pretending I just see you as a brother. I’m sorry, but yes, Kaga, I love you.”
Kagami didn’t really react this time either, shock getting the better of him again, so Nagami took his chance to kiss his brother while sober. He knew that he was breaking so many rules right now, but they all seemed to melt away as he felt Kagami react to him, and in a positive way. His twin was actually kissing him back, a bit shyly but hey, it was a start. All of the tension just dissolved away, neither of them hearing the car pull up on the street beside them, but they noticed it when they heard a voice clearly state, “What are you doing?!” They both looked over and felt a very cold chill run through their bodies. They had been caught… by their dear father.
