Chapter 6

Something that was wished for

He caught me in his strong firm arms and part of me did not want him to let me go, but he did. He did keep my hand in his but I think he only did that because he wanted to make sure I followed him.

I noticed when we got out front I did not see his motorcycle and he seemed to notice how my eyes were looking for it.

“I didn’t park it in front of your house.”

When he told me he did not park it in front of my house I shook my head knowing why he had done that and was glad he did that. If my mom and stepfather had seen his bike, they would have freaked.

We walked to the same park in which we had first meant and I was happy to see that the bench that I had sat on when he had first said something to me was empty. I knew that it was late and that there should not be that many people here.

As we sat on the bench, the wind caught my hair and I moved it from my face smiling.

This was nice. I thought looking at him with wide eyes. We were here together and he seemed happy just like me.

Every now and then, he would look at me smiling. He had never been quiet for this long before, so I got the funny feeling that he was waiting for something maybe for me to start talking first or something.

“So how old are you?” I asked wanting to make sure my first guess had been right.
“I am two hundred and four.” He laughed. He must have seen my eyes look at him as if he was lying. “I look great for my age right.”

“Stop teasing. How old are you? You can’t be any older then what nineteen?” I asked looking him over. Something told me he was older than I was but not by much, I knew.

“I guess you can say nineteen.”

“Why can’t you even answer a simple question easily?” I rolled my eyes and he laughed at me. “What’s so funny?”

“You are.” He leaned in closer to me and held my hand in his bringing it to his lips. “You never ease to amaze me.”

For some odd reason I got the feeling that he was not talking about just me but I did not say anything about it. I just eyed him and got a weird feeling when he put a smirk on his face so I looked away from him.

“I don’t see how I am funny, but whatever.” I told him wanting to move on to another topic. “So what are we going to do out here?”

His eyes looked distant for a moment then he shook his head frowning.

“Let’s go to the subway.” His voice seemed to be on edge and I was not sure why.

“….ok…..I guess.” I whispered getting up as he did.

We began to walk to the subway and I was not too sure what to say to him. I did not live at all far from the subway but it was long enough away that we could have a nice conversation.

I looked at him and I saw that he was looking ahead with a small smile on his face. I did not think I had ever seen a real smile on his face. I had seen him smirk. I had seen him give a weak smile but never a real smile that he had on right now.

What was he smiling about?

“Is something funny?” I asked not understanding his smile.

He looked at me and grabbed my hand trying to pull me more quickly down the walkway. We were almost to the stairs that lead to the subway when I finally opened my mouth to ask him what the rush was all about but he pulled me to him and kissed me.

I loved when he kissed me, but every time he kissed me, it was as if he was trying to get me to shut up. The funny thing was that when his lips came onto mine I did not even care.

Only he knew how we got up those stairs while my lips where on his. I did not even know how we got to the bench that was right by the subway platform.

His lips moved from mine and I wanted them back on mine. I looked at him and frowned only to look away. I rolled my eyes at myself for wanting him so bad. What was it about those beautiful lips of his that made me want more?

I licked my lips just thinking about them.

“So what are we going to do out here?” I asked him trying to flirt, but knew I was not doing a good job.

When I looked back at him, I saw that he was closer to me. His lips where now right by mine and I wanted nothing more than to capture them.

“There are tons of things we could do.” He said leaning in closer to me. As I went in to kiss him, he moved back making me sigh. “So Diamond you think we could do something fun while we are out here.”

“Sure.” I said trying to kiss him again but ended up kissing air. I call making out fun or at least making out with him is fun so why was he acting like this? Had he thought making out with me wasn’t good?

I knew I was new at this so maybe I was not good at this. I stared at him and he looked back at me something told me he saw what I was thinking. My eyes had to give me away.

He grabbed my chin and smiled leaning in to me then kissing me lightly on the lips.

“There are other things that could be close to this kind of fun.” He responded to my eyes but there was something he was not saying to me. I am not sure what but something told me he was holding back from me.

“Like what?” I said deciding that I did not really care what he was holding back, but since he was playing hard to get I would have to just play back.

Krad touched my hair and stared at me for a moment. I was about to ask him again but I saw something catch his eyes. I almost frowned at him but I turned my head hoping he did not know I had almost done that.

He got up and pulled me up as while leading me back to the hallway we had walk though to get here.

“Why are we going this way?” I asked not understanding. “If we were going to leave so soon why did we even come?”

Krad pushed me up against the wall and I smiled at him seeing the lust in his eyes. His eyes looked different at this moment. They were not there stormy blue. They looked like a dark red. Almost blood like.

He must have caught how I was looking at him for he closed his mouth over mine knowing full well that for some reason I never was able to remember what I was going to say after he had kissed me.

It was like when his lips where on mine my life felt right. Everything that I thought was wrong became great….crystal clear really. I loved how his lips glazed across mine. I loved how his hands ran through my hair and then down my back.

I loud laugh made him stop kissing me and he looked up. My eyes followed his and I saw that it was Kate. She had just gotten off the subway with a guy I had never seen before.

He had golden hair that was now shinning in the light.

Kate had always loved guys with dark hair and never paid any real attention to guys who didn’t have what she called the bad boy look. So why was she over there kissing this guy like she hadn’t just made out with her boyfriend at Drake party?

So what was she doing here with this guy? I had never seen him before and she had never talked about anyone other than herself but she did at times mention her boyfriend.

“Come on. Don’t let them see you.” He said pulling me a little, more down the hall, but not far enough that I could not see Kate or her friend anymore.

“I wonder what she is doing here.” I stated out load.

Kate had never looked so happy before. She looked as if she was happy to be out here.

This fact made me want to know who this guy was. Even her boyfriend had never put a smile like this on her face.

Whatever he said to her made Kate jump up and down then hug him giving him a big kiss. I watched as the guy kissed her back then pulled away smiling at her. He soon left the opposite way from me and Krad walking down some stairs.

Kate was watching him leave and I felt so weird watching her act like this. Kate was not loving or nice. She was mean and hard. So why was she waving at this guy like she could not wait until she saw him again.

“Why don’t you go say hi?” Krad said putting a smirk on his lips. I stared at him wondering just what he was thinking.

“Why?” I asked slowly walking over to where she was. I turned when I noticed he was not following. “Coming?”

“I’ll be there is a few.” He responded as I eyed him. “Diamond I am just going to pay her back for you.”

“What?” I asked not understanding.

“I am going to scare her.” He said then blows me a kiss walking back into the dark hallway until I could no longer see him. “You will see. Now go on love.”

I just shook my head not wanting to think twice about whatever he was going to do, but hoping it would at least be funny. I walked over to Kate who was standing a little close to the edge of the walkway right by the train tracks. I smiled when her icy blue eyes caught my eyes.

Her eyes went big and she looked as if she had been caught wearing her hair in a bad messy ponytail. I smiled at her and for the first time ever it was me who had the first words.

“Hi Kate. What are you doing out here?”

My heart was beating loudly. I wanted to tell Krad not to scare Kate anymore. I was more than happy with just seeing the look on her face, but then that look soon went away and the Kate I knew came back.

“What are you doing here?” Her voice came out as if she had not just looked like she had been caught doing whatever she had just been doing.

“I could ask you the same question.” I said smiling feeling as if I had her right where I had wanted her.

“Look at you trying to be all Queen Bee like.” She laughed then clapped her hands. “I am so proud of you, Minnie.”

“Why are you here and who was that guy?” I asked her not wanting her to continue hearing her make fun of me.

“That is none of your business Minnie.” She said then looked over her nails. “Are you ready for tomorrow?”

I was not too sure if she was asking me because she really cared or if she was asking just because she wanted to get the topic back on me, something that she hated to do.

“Does it matter?” I murmured under my breath. Where was Krad?

“It does.” She said looking at me, but something flickered in her eyes to quick for me to catch. Her lips soon where not smiling anymore. I frowned at her not understanding what was going on with her.

“What’s wrong?”

Her shook her head at me and put her hand on the back of her neck biting her bottom lip.

This was something that I had never seen her do before.

“Nothing let’s just leave this place.” She said. Kate took a step forward but stopped and I saw her eyes were staring passed me. I soon began to hear a buzzing sound and almost laughed knowing it was Krad. He was about to get Kate very good. “Do you hear that?”

“Hear what?” I asked as if I could not hear a thing.

“That horrible noise.” Kate yelled putting her hands over her ears. “Where is it coming from?”

“I don’t know what you are talking about.” I lied to her again loving the way she was reacting. I knew I would soon pay for this, but right now, I did not care.

I walked over to her and saw that now she was frozen in her steps.

“Minnie?”

“What?” I asked now inches away from her. I frowned at her when I reached out to grab her shoulder and she pulled away.

“Do you honestly think you are that good of an actress?” She laughed. “Who do you have out there Mindy or Stephenie maybe both of them losers?”

I rolled my eyes. “No I don’t know what you are talking about.”

“Right, whatever you say Minnie.”

I sighed then shook my head. “Come out Krad she is not buying it.”

“Who is Krad?” She asked just as I heard the subway train coming. “He is cute?”

I looked over to the place where Krad had gone but I did not see him. I frown and turn to look back at Kate and just as I did, everything around me happened too quickly.

Krad was standing right by me with a smile clearly written on his face when I turned around. I smiled back at him.

“Boo.” Was all that Krad said before Kate face fell with fear. I do not know how but as soon as that word left, his lips Kate fall back. She reached out for me but it was too late. The train had come and when it left, it took her with it.

I could see her long dark thick glossy hair blow as the train tried to stop. My lips went wide as I was about to scream Kate.

Krad grabbed me and lifted me taking me back to my house too quickly. Everything was going by so quickly and I was starting to feel sick.

My world was spinning around by the time he had set me down in front of my front door. I wanted to throw up.

What had just happened? I kept asking myself. I wanted to go back in time and tell myself not to go out.

I stared at Krad and saw that he was looking at me as if he was studying me. It was almost as if he was waiting for me to snap on him, but right now I couldn’t. I was shaking too much.

“Good night.” I shook out and went into my pocket for my key.

That had not just happened.

I knew that my mom and my step father where asleep by now. This knowledge made me happy.

When the key went into the door, I was happy that I could finally go into my room. I would close my eyes and all of this would be as if it had never happened.

When I woke up, I would see it was just a horrible nightmare.

Yes. This did not happen. I told myself with a smile opening the door. Just as I was about to close it he put his foot in the way.

“Don’t it is ok.” He whispered. “She just got scared and fell. It was my fought.”

“I am to blame to.” I whispered back. “I should go tell my mom.”

I was about to go to jail. I had just killed my best friend.

“She was your so called friend and who cares. No one is going to find out you where there ok. It will look like an accident. She may have drunk too much at a party or maybe she had a fight with that guy and she fall or something.”

“Oh so let him go to jail for us.” I responded becoming very angry with him but more so at myself for even thinking that I should listen to him. “Krad just leave ok.”

“I am not leaving until we finish talking about this.” He replied.

By now, I had noticed that he had moved his foot from the door and was looking at me with a gleam in his eyes. I wanted to smack him all of a sudden. I do not even know why, but it felt like I should smack him.

However, I did not. I just closed the door in his face and locked it.

He could knock on it if he wanted and then wake my mom only to have to talk to my stepfather who would likely want to kill him for even knocking on his door at this time of night.

I went up the steps not wanting to be down here any longer. By the time, I got into my room and I was getting ready to cry.

There was no other option I had to tell my mom what had just happened. It was an accident so maybe it would all be ok. I put my head first in my bed as my body fall on it.

What was I going to do?

“Diamond you need to stop acting weak for two seconds and hear me out.” His voice made me angrier. I don’t know why but him being here after I had just closed my door on him was not why I was mad, no I was mad because I wanted someone to blame and I felt he was the right person.

“Shut up and leave.” I told him and rolled my eyes in my pillow.

“Listen yes Kate is gone, but isn’t that good.”

I moved my face from my pillow and frowned.

“How can you say that?”

“Firstly she was the reason that your friend died right?”

Jena.

“How do you know about that?” I asked not liking him knowing about stuff that I did not know.

“Secondly.” He began as he ignored me. “The world is better off without her here. You cannot help that she fell. You were only trying to scare her. You weren’t trying to kill her love, so don’t blame yourself.”

He came and sat down right by me. His lips glazed across my cheek and I shivered.

“School would be better now that she is gone.” I said thinking over what he was saying.

“Right.” He said then smiled.

“No one will have to kiss her butt anymore.”

“Right.”

“It will be nice at school and everyone will be happy. People like Jena won’t wish to die because Kate is mean to them all the time.”

“Right and it’s all because of you.”

I turned to looked at him and saw that his eyes where closed. He looked like he was enjoying what I was saying. Sighing, I put my hands in my face to close my eyes.

“Love.” I heard his voice but tried my hardest to tone him out. I was crying now. I do not know when I had started to cry but the tears where coming down so fast that I was not sure I would ever stop.

He put his arms around me and held me tightly to his chest. Krad lips kissed the top of my head while I cried myself to sleep.
