Decisions

“Tyler,” I called urgently as I reached the café counter.

“Bahri, what’s wrong,” Tyler asked as he turned around. He hesitantly placed a hand on my forearm while searching my eyes.

“I know I never told you this, but I never thought you would be in this situation,” I rambled as fear finally dominated my mind.

“Bahri, what are you trying to say,” Tyler whispered his hand tightening. I closed my eyes in shame before whispering,

“I have a brother.”

“So, I have a sister,” Tyler said furrowing his eyebrows. I opened my eyes but refused to look at Tyler.

“My brother is a full vampire and is the most dangerous one I’ve met. He always tries to ruin my life and usually succeeds. Vlad told me he’s coming.”

“He isn’t going to take you or me, is he?”

“I don’t think so. Vlad didn’t tell me when he would arrive though, so we just need to be on alert. Now I really need to master my vampire powers.”

“Let’s go to the dorm and talk with Sara and Vlad to figure out what to do,” Tyler suggested as he walked out from behind the café counter.

“Don’t you have work,” I asked as Tyler grabbed his bag. We started heading off to the dorm after Tyler signed a book.

“Yes, but this is more important. I can deal with my boss. Should I call Sara?”

“Of course,” I said thinking about other things. Tyler shrugged and started digging in his pocket for his cell.

‘Vlad,’ I thought.

‘What do you want now B,’ Vlad’s voice thought back clearly annoyed.

‘Just meet me in my dorm,’ I said before blocking out Vlad’s thoughts.

“Vlad’s on his way,” I stated as Tyler clicked off his phone. He simply nodded before putting his phone back into his pocket.

The rest of the way to our dorm was silent, even though I tried to get Tyler to talk a few times. He seemed to be thinking about something that Sara told him.

When we turned a corner, we bumped into Vlad and Sara. Sara and Tyler walked ahead of Vlad and me, talking about something dealing with Tyler’s sister.

“How is Tyler,” Vlad asked as I watched Tyler closely. He seemed to cheer up a little from what I could see. I glanced at Vlad before sighing heavily.

“He’s fine. Vlad, my time will be up in less than a week. You know I don’t want to push Tyler into this, but how do I explain everything without doing that?”

“I don’t know, Bahri,” Vlad said honestly. He gently placed a hand on my shoulder in a way of comfort. I pulled the picture I had drawn out of my pocket and handed it to Vlad.

“I wanted to give this to Tyler and explain everything, but I don’t know how to,” I confessed. Vlad grinned as he unfolded the picture.

“It still amazes me that you draw better than I do. Tyler will love it, trust me. As for telling him, let your heart speak for you and yes I know I’m talking to Mr. Puts-walls-around-his-emotions. Just talk to him, he’ll understand,” Vlad advised as we finally reached the dorm.

Tyler fumbled with his keys before successfully opening the door. Everyone silently took a seat before Vlad started to speak.

“This has to deal with my news, doesn’t it,” he asked bowing his head.

“No…kind of, it didn’t at first. Tyler and I decided that during the time he’s at the café, I’m going to be training with Vlad. I want you to be with Tyler, Sara. You’re the only one I trust enough with Tyler besides Vlad.”

“Hey, are you always going to be so overly protective? I can take care of myself,” Tyler huffed. I couldn’t help but smile at Tyler’s outburst.

“Tyler, I will always be overly protective. It’s in my nature since vampires get easily jealous,” I whispered into his ear. A blush gently settled on Tyler’s neck and cheeks as I smiled in victory.

“So, you’re going to be with Tyler while I train, Sara. Tyler wanted to learn more about his kind so while he works maybe you could read books on them,” I suggested. Sara thought for a minute before a knock on the startled us.

“I’ll get it,” Vlad whispered. The rest of us just nodded as he went to the door and opened it. “Hello, can I help you?”

“Yes, you can tell me where my brother is,” a voice said. Tyler cringed slightly before moving a little away from me.

“I’m over here, Niki,” Tyler called. A girl pushed past Vlad and quickly stepped into the room. I quickly glanced at Vlad, who just rolled his eyes.

“Tyler, did you forget your own birthday was coming up,” the girl asked. Tyler blushed and mumbled something but the girl just shrugged and walked over to Sara.

“Niki, why didn’t you call us,” Sara asked as she gave Niki a friendly hug. Niki had a look of mock shock on her face.

“What and ruin the surprise? I don’t think so,” Niki said laughing. She slowly turned to me and looked at me for a second. “You must be Bahri. Sara told me a little about you.”

“Niki, what do you want,” Tyler groaned. I was shocked that he wasn’t overjoyed to see his sister, but decided not to say anything.

“Well, after Professor Clockwork sent me the letter about mom, I knew you would be devastated. So I thought about throwing you a party here.”

“Niki, you know I don’t like parties,” Tyler whined. Niki chuckled lightly and placed a hand on Tyler’s shoulder.

“Tyler, you know you have to forget embarrassing times,” she stated. With a quick hug, she started to walk out.

“Oh, bye Bahri and um… your friend,” she said looking at Vlad questioningly. With that, she walked out. I watched Tyler as he dropped his head into his hands. I hesitantly placed my hand on his back.

“My sister is going to ruin my birthday,” he muttered. I smiled and leaned closer to his ear.

“You should have seen the one my sister threw,” I whispered lightly. Finally giving into my urges, my tongue playfully licked the inside of Tyler’s ear.

“Bahri,” Tyler whispered, his voice coming out in a pant. Gently, I tugged on Tyler’s ear until someone coughed – loudly.

“Bahri, can you retain yourself for a little while so that we can finish,” Sara asked pointedly. I bowed my head and nodded. Vlad chuckled and sat back down.

“Okay, so we were at,” Vlad started, voice trailing off.

“Tyler wanting to learn more about his kind,” Sara stated. I nodded and turned to Tyler.

“What was the question,” Tyler asked sheepishly. He blushed when Vlad started laughing but Sara spoke up.

“Do you happen to have a book on elves, Ty,” She whispered. He nodded and got up to look for it.

“Yeah, Niki found it a year be-before Dad left,” Tyler said emphasizing left. “It was signed to me from someone I’ve never heard of. Aha, I found it!”

Tyler carefully picked up an old book from inside his closet. He brought it over and placed it on his lap as he sat back down.

“So, what else do you need to know,” he asked. I lightly touched his hand and was happy when he lightly squeezed it.

“What time do you start work,” I asked.

“Classes start when- 8:15? Then I would be working at 12:00-12:15,” Tyler said. I nodded.

“That would mean we would have about a half hour, or hour, to train,” Vlad stated.

“You have an hour,” Tyler stated. I nodded and turned to Vlad as Tyler rested his head on my shoulder.

“Vlad, did you find the book,” I asked. Vlad smirked before answering.

“Do you honestly think I wanted to have to look for that thing later? Plus, since your brother is coming, he’d want the book back, wouldn’t he?”

I nodded slowly and gently nudged Tyler. He grumbled but picked up his head. Sara smiled before standing up.

“Well, we can start tomorrow. Bye Tyler, Bahri. Vlad are you heading my way,” Sara asked. Vlad merely nodded and stood up.

“I’ll see you tomorrow Bahri and you too, Tyler. Oh and here’s your drawing Bahri,” Vlad said winking. He escorted Sara outside and gently closed the door behind him.

“Bahri, what did you draw,” Tyler asked. I hesitated before handing him the picture. He neatly opened it and gasped.

“Is that me,” he asked looking at me. I nodded slightly embarrassed as Tyler looked at it in shock.

“If you don’t like it, you don’t have to.-” Tyler’s finger was gently placed on my lip to shut me up.

“I love it,” Tyler whispered. I smiled and wrapped my arms around his waist. Tyler placed the picture down and pressed his lips against mine.

I moaned and started to nibble at Tyler’s bottom lip. He opened his mouth and let his hands press against my chest.

“Bahri,” Tyler moaned pulling away. I moved one of my hands to run through his messy dirty blonde hair. He smiled and leaned towards my ear.

“You can bet my sister is going to be watching you closely,” he whispered. A small smile planted itself on my face as Tyler started to walk away.

“When were you going to tell me about your birthday,” I asked as Tyler started to drag his bag over to a table. He glanced over at me before taking out a book.

“I wasn’t really planning on it. My birthday never really seemed special to me,” Tyler whispered. He looked over at me before opening his book and starting to write down things.

Sighing, I headed into the bathroom and slowly took off my clothes. I turned the on the shower and took a step inside, closing the shower curtain behind me.

A moan escaped my lips as the water caressed my body. I closed my eyes and just let the water flow onto my body. Slowly, I opened my eyes and grabbed a wash cloth and lightly washed my body.

I groaned as I remembered I had to wash my hair, which was plastered to my face and back. Peeling my hair off my face, I looked around for some shampoo but couldn’t find any.

“Are you looking for something for your hair,” a familiar voice said. I quickly popped my head out and saw Tyler smiling.

“Of course I’m looking for something,” I stated running my fingers through my tangled hair. Tyler rolled his eyes but handed me a bottle of shampoo. “Don’t you have work to do?”

“No, I just had Latin homework, which was extremely easy,” Tyler said as I pulled back into the shower. I squirted some of the shampoo onto my hand and gently worked it into my hair.

“Tyler, could you get two towels out for me,” I said rinsing my hair. I repeated my actions before shutting off the water.

“Bahri I have two towels,” Tyler said handing me one. I wiped myself dry and wrapped it around my waist before stepping out of the shower.

“What’s your brother like,” Tyler questioned as I wildly dried my hair. I glanced over at him before answering.

“He’s the oldest of my siblings and looks almost like me. You can tell us apart because of our eyes and I think his hair is still short,” I said walking over to the counter and grabbing a comb. Tyler walked up behind me and took the comb.

“Is your hair naturally curly,” he asked as he combed through my hair.

“My hair is retarded,” I stated causing Tyler to laugh. “It only curls at my bangs while the rest is straight but I keep it straight.”

“Why don’t you ever have it like that,” Tyler asked as he finished combing my hair. I turned around faced Tyler.

“I never really felt like it. Plus, it makes me look like a girl. Why are you asking,” I questioned. Tyler blushed and looked down at his feet.

“Ithoughtyou’dlookcute,” Tyler mumbled. I smiled and wrapped my arms around his waist.

“What was that,” I asked pulling Tyler closer. He snapped his head up, but quickly tried to look away.

“I thought you’d look cute,” Tyler whispered. I grinned and kissed his forehead.

“Damn right I would,” I joked. Tyler smiled and wrapped his arms around my neck. “Since you’re done with you’re homework, we could go to sleep early.”

“Okay,” Tyler said detaching his arms from my neck. I reluctantly let go of Tyler and we both headed into the bedroom.

Tyler and I put on our night wear and climbed in bed. My body barely touched the bed before Tyler snuggled up to me. I wrapped one arm around his waist before kissing his forehead.

“Let’s hope tomorrow goes by quickly,” I whispered. Tyler slowly nodded and drifted off to sleep. I soon followed suite as a wave of calmness washed over me.
