It Takes My Pain Away

“I see you got my letter,” he says motioning to Alex’s wound. The blonde ignores his comment and shrugs off the ruined coat. The blue shirt under that is also spoiled, a dark red blotch on the sleeve.

The old man scoffs at Alex’s silent response. “I’m surprised you didn’t tell her what you are,” he points to the trapped brunette with his sword. “Ah...,” he says as if he understands, “so you were going to keep her till she was good enough to drain completely. Feed her lies, tell her you love her and then strike when she’s not looking!”

Just listening to the man’s hypothesis of Alex’s actions made the brunette shiver in fear. Was everything that Alex said a lie? No, it couldn’t be. Jodi is brought out of her internal battle when Alex who takes two steps towards the slayer, fist flexing and unflexing. “You lie Croix. I just wanted to wait until bugs like you were taken care of.” He throws his head back laughing.

“Well I’m one bug that won’t die so easily.” He throws his head to laugh again but before a sound can leave his throat, Bruno went sailing into the wall behind him. The attack was so sudden that not even Jodi saw it. One minute she sees the vampire slayer laughing maniacally at the man and the next minute she sees Alex stand where Bruno was, a bloody fist outstretched and the old man slumped against the wall.

The blonde vampire licks her bloody fist before mocking the fallen man, “What’s wrong old man? Didn’t take your vitamins?” He grunts and slowly gets up, holding his bloody and possible broken nose. Bruno is able to stand up straight and begins taking off his own coat. “Scoff now demon for soon you will cease to exist.” Beneath the coat are the “old” man’s massive muscles. He flexes and reflexes them as if they’ve been contained for a long time. Seeing the man’s colossal physique, Jodi fears for Alex’s safety. Alex on the other hand, stands there, hands on her hips. “Wow… You remind me of that German bodybuilder Markus Rühl. So tell me, how many steroids did you have to take in order to get that hideous figure?”

“I trained for the last 40 years to get my body into this glorious shape,” he says showing off his large build.

The blonde just yawns and heads to the cell holding Jodi, “Whatever you do, your fate will be the same.” She raises her fist back but just as it looks like she is about to free Jodi from her prison, Alex collides into some empty containers located behind her. Now Bruno, enormous arm out stretched, is where the vampire was standing seconds before. Dust is kicked up from the vampire’s landing, so thick it blocks Bruno’s vision of Alex’s fallen body.

“You can’t win this time devil! I now have strength that rivals your very own! I will have-”

His victory speech is cut off after Alex forces him to roll to the right, out of the direction of an airborne canister. As soon as he gets up, Alex’s fist crashes into his face causing him smash into the door keeping Jodi captive.

“You want vengeance,” states the undead woman. Bruno staggers to his feet when Alex continues, “Fine, but leave Jodi out of it.”

“Oh no. I can’t possible do that,” he counters, an angry fire in his eyes, “You see, mere moments before I stake you, I will kill this girl. Just like the first one.”

“And you call me a monster.”

“I remember the day like it was yesterday,” he says smiling evilly,”Your parents were already piles of dust. My father, myself, and the other slayers were having a ball dusting off your kin. Then I remember seeing this raven haired girl…”

“Stop it.”

“Well I walk up behind her, she was looking for someone, probably you, yanked her by the hair and,” makes a motion with his hand as if he had his sword and was holding the person, slicing the air, “off came her pretty little head.” Jodi moves back into the wall of the cell completely mortified. ‘This man is insane’

“Turns out she was a mortal. What a shame. If I knew that before hand I would’ve screwed her-“

“Enough!” Both Jodi and Bruno look at enraged Alex. Her body shaking with rage, her eyes blood red. She was acting in the same way when Jodi confronted the blonde in her bedroom that night…

“Yes Alexandria. Show her more of the real you. Show her the monster that you really are!”

In a furious rage, the vampire rushes again at Bruno but he ducks and rolls away from the attack. Her attack is so strong that she punches the door right off its hinges and it crashes onto the floor. She looks up and sees Jodi, terrified brown staring at sorry blue. She wants to say something to the brunette, to comfort her, to tell her that it’ll be alright but a searing pain originating from her lower back prevents her from doing so. Alex reaches around and pulls out yet another arrow.

A haughty laugh is heard from the other side of the large room. “Come on Martin. If you can’t stop me then I might as well bang your little girlfriend,” he mocks from a set of stairs at the far end. In a flash the blue eyes turn red and Alex runs after the retreating man, canines extended. She raced up the stairs only to be met with darkness.

This level was filled with gigantic cylinders used to hold what, Alex didn’t know. Quietly she sneaks through the area, listening out for footsteps. While passing one of the large units she heard rapid footsteps pass her. She turns to face track the noise down. Once she does turn to face the noise, a large amount of liquid hit her, causing to her to scream in pain. Seems Bruno came prepared with a large amount of holy water, the same substance she was trying to get out of her eyes and off her person.

Because she was concerned with her eyes she did not hear the sound of one of the large containers tipping over until it was too late. The whole warehouse trembled once it fell on top of Alex. As we all now, this would have killed a normal human being but Alex is not one so she has nothing to fear. Except the fact the large object has pinned her hands and the rest of the lower body. She grumbles and slowly tries to free herself by lifting up the object off her. The blonde then sees Bruno grinning as he walks towards her head. He places his feet on both sides of Alex’s head and raises the sword high, aimed right for her brain.

“Well Alexandria It’s been fun,” he says staring into the vampire’s wide eyes, “Say hello to the devil for me.” The sword begins its descent and Alex’s closes her eyes only to feel nothing. She opens her eyes to find her guardian angel on the behemoths back.

Jodi felt like she was riding a mechanical bull as the man tried to throw her off but due to his massive muscles can’t even reach the small woman. He screams and thrashes around until he smashes his head against one of the other containers, throwing his rider off and stunning him at the same time. The brunette rolls to her hands and scurries over to the trapped vampire. She begins to help push the two ton cylinder off of Alex. “Don’t worry,” Jodi says unknown to her the large shadow hovering over the two.

After a few minutes of pushing the cylinder is finally off of the vampire. Jody is about help Alex to her feet when a hot flash of pain, originating at her stomach, runs throughout her body. She looks down at her belly only to see a bloody blade coming out of her stomach. Then a sinister voice talks in her ear.

“I told you not to get in my way.” Jodi can only let out another cry of pain as the deadly steel was yanked from her body. Her muscles turned into lead and she fell to the floor. Alex was immediately hovering her, tears in her eyes. The blonde was saying something to her but she couldn’t hear it. She places her hand weakly on Alex’s face. “Don’t leave me,” she whispers quietly. The dark room was getting darker and darker until…

Nothing.

There was nothing.

‘What a way to die.’

‘But wait… bright, warm light…’

Chocolate eyes fluttered open and then immediately closed to shield the abused pupils. Jodi groaned and got up from her sleeping position on the bed. ‘Wha?’ Last thing she remembers was being on the floor, bleeding to death in the dark warehouse on the hard floor. Now she was in well lit room on a soft comfy bed with a pounding headache. After looking at the room again she realized where she was.

She was in her room back at the house, still dressed in the clothes she wore that night.

“Urg…. My head,” she moans just as the door swings open to reveal a relieved Sage. He sits on the edge of the bed near the brunette.

“Oh thank god Jodi. I thought you would never wake up.”

She is about to respond when a morbid thought crossed her mind. “Wait wasn’t I stabbed? In the stomach?” Jodi looks down and sees the rip in her shirt. She rolls up to shirt to check the damage but finds nothing, not even a little scratch. Sage laughs nervously at the woman’s stunned reaction. “Yeah about that…” He gets up to leave but Jodi’s hand on his arm prevents him from doing so.

“Sage…” She knows that the man is hiding something from her. He sighs and sits back on the bed, “Do you want the plain truth?”

“That’d be nice.”

“Well,” he claps his hands and puts a smile on his face, “Congratulations Jodi, You’re a vampire!”

-This has to be the shortest chapter I've done for this story. Again I just wanted to get this chapter out of the way. Don'tm like writing fights scenes that much.
