Chapter Seven

A nice quiet day to spend reading all to himself. Eddie dropped the book he was reading when he heard the ringing. He glanced around the room and realized that his telephone is making the sound. Eddie wasn’t used to the sound because it hasn’t rang for a while.
“Hello?”
“Eddie! I am coming over now, okay? I just finished my deliveries and I hope it’s okay.”
“Yeah, it’s fine.” Eddie said with a smile on his face.
“You just wait!” With that Eddie hung up and went back to sitting on the sofa; the piece of furniture where he had his first real kiss. He fidgeted a little bit while waiting impatiently for the young flower delivery boy to arrive. For the first time in five years, he finally felt alive. All these years he had suppressed the emotions inside, and strangely enough, the young teenager brought everything out of him, the best and worst. His hands balled up into fists as he remembered the fateful night, the night when he lost himself. He whimpered silently as the thought brought back, the pain flared up through his body as if he was being raped again. He shook head and gulped loudly. ‘I have someone now, so be happy, Eddie. Stop thinking about the past, think of how you are spend the rest of the night with Zach.’ Eddie struggled to think past his memories and ended up smiling about Zach. He went into the kitchen and took out two glasses. He then proceeded to take out the ingredients for making double chocolate chip cookies. He began to make the cookie dough with a side smile plastered on his face. His hands moved with relative ease and familiarity, kneading the dough. When he finished making the cookie dough, the doorbell rang, and he washed his hands to saunter rather excitedly to the door. He opened the door with Zach readily sticking out his tongue at him. Zach then shoved two dozens of long-stemmed pink tea roses in Eddie’s face while the biggest grin broke on his face.
“I thought you could use some color in your home.” Zach said nonchalantly.
Eddie took the flowers in hand and beamed the brightest smile at the moment. He then gestured the teenager to come in while closing the door behind them.
“I am just going to bake some cookies, so…” Eddie said while getting out a vase for the roses. He buried his nose in the roses and the fragrance bursts into his nostrils, and it took a while for him to unearth his nose from the midst of the roses.
“Those are hybrid tea roses with strong fragrance. They are my favorite.” Zach said while watching the older man divide the cookie dough on the baking tray.
“They are beautiful, and they smell magnificent.” Eddie said while sitting down across the young man. “Did they cost a lot?”
“The cost was okay, and I got a employee discount, so I didn’t have to spend all the money in my wallet.”
“Well, thank you for them.”
“Mmh hmm. So, what are your plans for the New Year, and do you have any New Year’s Resolutions?”
“Not really, I am comfortable with where I am.”
“Oh come on, you must have something. How about trying to leave this apartment?”
“I don’t think so, if I haven’t already told you, I do have agoraphobia, which is the fear of open space, and not to mention a bad case of social anxiety, so I think I’ll be just fine in my apartment.” Eddie said with an as-a-matter-of fact voice. He also tried to shade his eyes from Zach when saying this so the other can’t see what he is feeling. He does this successfully without the other noticing that he is hiding something.
“Eddie, come on. You won’t have to be alone, I’ll be there with you. We can start small by going to a movie or something. Then we won’t have to talk to anyone or face the big, bad world. It’ll just be us.” Zach said while putting on the most reassuring face he has.
“I don’t know. I just don’t think I am ready.”
“It’s been five years, Eddie, but you know what? I am not going to push you. Just have it somewhere in the back of your mind.”
Eddie looked up finally while he finished his long session of “scratching” his forehead. Zach reached out and placed a hand upon Eddie’s. Flinching a little bit, Eddie relaxed in the soft and warm feeling that is brought on by the hand and the care of the college student. They both smiled at each other, and slowly the silence melted into a warm surrounding. Just then, the alarm went off on the oven. Eddie stood up quickly to see the perfectly golden brown treats. He carefully took them out and placed them on the cooling rack. Zach quickly snatched a cookie while Eddie was still putting them on the rack. He broke it in half and watched the chocolate make a long string until he finally separated it enough that the string broke. He can still see the steam coming off the cookie and Zach took a bite into it. He then licked his fingers with careful slowness so that Eddie can see the behind his action. His finger came out of his lips with a loud pop, and Eddie just stood there and watched the young man play with his mind.
“This is really good! I always burn my cookies. I just don’t have any culinary skills.” Zach said while trying to appear not to have noticed the older man’s incessant stare. Eddie couldn’t take his eyes off the evocative young man. He flushed as images of Zach and him flashed through his mind. He gulped noticeably and licked his lips. ‘Oh my God! What am I thinking? He’ll probably hurt me, no, can’t think of us. It’s not right.’ Eddie’s breath quickened as he tried to fight the images off and failing miserably.
“Are you alright, Eddie?” Zach said while winking at the older man suggestively.
“Unh, yeah? Yeah! Fine!” Eddie finishes scooping the cookies onto the rack while Zach finished the cookie with delicate and provoking movements. By the time he finished eating the cookie, Eddie’s face is as red as a tomato.
“You look a little flushed, Eddie, you sure you are alright?” Zach said teasingly. He stood up and walked toward Eddie while placing his arms around the other man’s waist and pulled him in. He leaned in and whispered lowly.
“You want to tell me what you are thinking? Maybe I can help.”
Zach’s breath brushed at Eddie’s ear and made him melt a little more into the young man’s embrace. He closed his eyes and breathed in the zesty scent of the young man while placing his forehead on Zach’s left shoulder. He slowly snaked his arm around Zach’s chest and then neck to hold a loose grasp on the other. He then lifted his head and looked into Zach’s dark blue eyes.
“Kiss me.”
Zach complied. He pressed his pliant lips into Eddie’s; they held each other for quite a while before Eddie pulled away. He licked his lips, tasting the slight taste of chocolate and made a small noise in the back of his throat. His breath slowed and deepened as he leaned in for more chocolate. He pressed harder into Zach’s lips and closed his eyes to enjoy the feeling of another human being against him. Zach tentatively flicked his tongue out at Eddie’s lower lip, making the other gasp and pull away. Zach smiled seductively and pulled the other man in for another eternal kiss. Their tongue battled and their embrace tightened and their love bloomed like a rose in springtime. Finally they parted and eyes of love and lust looked deep into the reflection of one another.
Eddie led them into the bedroom and onto the bed. His back flush against the headboard while Zach mounted onto his soft body. They held each other in a loving manner while they just kissed like teenagers just discovering their first kiss and drowned in it. Eddie’s heart melted with each kiss Zach planted on his lips; he was lost in the heavenly realm of paradise. Zach planted tender kisses on the other man’s lips while his mind wondered what he did to deserve such a beautiful man.
They kissed each other’s lips, and it was more than enough than either asked for. They fell asleep in each other’s arms and sweet dreams devoured them.

Eddie woke up to someone caressing his hair and scalp softly. He leaned into the comforting touch and purred lowly. A low chuckle came from the man next to him, and Eddie opened his eyes to look into the deep blue world of Zach. He planted a quick, chaste kiss on Eddie’s lips.
“I have to go soon, I got a class at eleven.”
“Well go then, you know I’ll be here waiting.” Eddie whispered lightly.
Before Zach got up from bed, more passionate kisses and loving murmurs were exchanged. They couldn’t seem to detangle themselves from each other’s limbs and embrace. Finally Zach was on his feet and Eddie got up too. They walked out to the living room and the front door, Zach planted a small peck at the other’s lips and walked out with a high spirit. Eddie closed the door and closed his eyes while leaning on the door. He pulled the memory from last night and fell into a trance while trying to relive the beautiful moments.

Zach went home after leaving Eddie’s apartment to take a shower and change. He allowed the warm water surround his body while he reminisced in last night’s event. He’s never felt this. He’s never kissed just anyone. It usually moved to more passionate events where he ends up screaming his release, but the kisses were sweeter than anything he ever felt. This man brought something out of him that he didn’t know he had—love. Zach smiled lightly while imagining it was Eddie that was touching him, not the hot water. He has only been gone from Eddie’s arms for an hour, but he is already craving another round of caresses and kisses from him. He finished taking a shower and went to school with Eddie on his mind.

Eddie hummed lightly as he made lunch for himself. After a simple sandwich, he went back to reading. Just a few minutes after he started to read, the phone began to ring and he quickly dropped his book to rush to the phone. He picked it up to hear the smooth and comforting voice of Zach.
“Hey Eddie, I just called to see what you are doing?”
“Oh nothing much, reading while waiting for you.” Eddie giggled shyly into the phone to make Zach’s heart beat double.
“Well, I was thinking of a movie tonight…”
“I would love that!” Eddie cut off Zach before he could finish.
“At the movie theater?” Zach questioned softly, while a short silence ensued.
“I don’t know, do you really want to see a movie, I mean it’ll be out in a few months and we can just get the video and watch together.”
“Eddie, you know that I don’t have to go a movie theater, but it’s for you.”
“I am not sure if I want to.” Eddie said with his deflated voice.
“Well, maybe another time then.”
“You’ll still come over?” Eddie asked when he heard Zach’s defeated voice.
“Yeah, of course. Okay, I got to go back to class now, so I’ll see you tonight.”
“Alright!” Eddie hung up the phone to quickly go into his room to go online. He decided that the portable DVD player wasn’t enough for the two of them, so he went ahead and ordered a plasma TV and a DVD player for that matter. He then bought a few more movies that he thought he would like, although he hasn’t heard any of them. He fell back into daydreaming after ordering the items, and sighed happily. He can’t wait till tonight when Zach is over.
