Sorry dear readers it took so long for this chapy, but I had a lot of serious things going on, which kept me from concentrating properly. I promise "no matter what" I will finish and complete this story, on my honor as a Yaoi lover! G

Darkness Chapter 64

Cave Mysteries and a Nice New Bud

Immediately Drakk and Feles, started to set up a comfortable campsite inside the cave, first they fed and cared for all the horses and then they followed it up by collecting any wind-fall of wood, grass, or debris that had somehow managed to accumulate and build up inside the cave over the years. They luckily discover the accumlation of dry windfall in the cave was more than sufficient to make a good size fire to warm the party and dry their wet cloths now, and later even provide a large enough fire to make a simple satisfying evening meal that would warm up their insides, as well as keep them warm and comfort all through the day and night.

Meanwhile without an explanation to the other two a very impatient, agitated, and nervous Darkness because of their delayed effort to rescue Keylyn, decides he needed to divert his restless impatience by exploring the dark cave and several corridors that lead off in several different directions from the main chamber into a dim unknown murkiness. So the wizard after hurriedly gathering dry grass and dry vines that had been blown into the cave by the wind and even finding a good size wooden stick for a handle. Darkness quickly made a large torch and he set it to burn with a conjuring cry and a snap of his fingers, which caused it to flare up wildly to fiery life, therefore enabling him to light his way in any direction he chose to go.

Then the restive moody Darkness started out all by himself, leaving the others behind to there work. He was surprised only that his two companions didn’t call him back and fuss at him, for letting them do all the work. But perhaps they were just glad to be rid of him and his caustic sarcasm for a little while, which was fine with him for he could use a little alone time himself.

The deep cave with it’s high ceiling was shadowy, damp, and cool, but certainly the freezing weather outside was certainly much worse, Darkness made his way slowly between rocks, rock pillars and fallen rubble from the cave ceiling, as he explored his way down a long narrow rough path with only the sounds of slow dripping water trickling down the cave walls for company. He couldn’t help but wonder if anything living made the cave its home. He continued forward with the fire torch in left hand and his right hand nervously clutching his sword hilt just in case.

After walking further and deeply into the cave for well over an hour until even the sounds of dripping water had stopped and the walls of the cave were dry. The complete and utter silence of the cave was suddenly disrupted by the faint sounds of precise repeated tapping far up ahead, which caused Seer’ Reign to come to an abrupt halt to listen. The tapping stopped for several seconds only to start up again. It didn’t seem to be natural sound; instead instinct told the wizard there was a mind behind those repeated taps. Darkness suddenly became much more alert drew his sword, as he slowly moved forward rounding a corner and headed into the next cave chamber and toward the direction of the intermitted tapping. All at once the sound ceased just as Seer’ Reign saw a dim light up a head. Drawing closer he saw small-lighted oil lantern hanging on the cave wall on an iron hook right next to an area of the wall that had been dug out and obviously mined. It was a very small area only about three and a half feet above the cave floor. Unfortunately he saw no sign of the miner, but he felt as he was being watched from the shadows. Alertly he moved closer to the excavated wall, and nearly stumbled on a small pile of obviousily collected brightly roughly round or partially faceted stone gems of various dazzling crystalline colors from clear to bright red. On an impulse he leaned over and picked up one of the stones. The round plum size pebble he held was the same shade of brilliant violet as Keylyn’s eyes and lock of hair, it brought back both good and distressing memories of the missing boy and the wizard clutched it tightly, as he studied it fascinated.

“Human thief put that down now, I worked hard to retrieve that little piece of rock you’re holding and I have a crossbow aimed at your heart as we speak.” Came a threatening soft low-pitched nonhuman faintly squeaky voice from out of the shadows.

Darkness silently quickly sheathed his sword, and quickly placed the violet stone back on top of the small pile of excavated baubles. Then he held his arms up not threateningly as he stepping away from the mined wall. All the while he used the time to focus his mind to call his magick into being and allow it to discover the direction of the small non-human voice. When the direction came to him, he let out a small loud invocation and motioned upward to the cave ceiling right above the area that the odd little voice came from. His conjuration immediately caused a moderate fall of rocks and rubble to dislodge, fall and tumble down sharply from the ceiling, immediate came a cry of pain and curse, “By Belen’s foul smelly Balls the tall human is a Magick user… my luck sucks, please Mr. magical thief take my stones if you must, but please get me out from under these heavy stones... have mercy for I am very heavy with child and about to give birth soon… maybe even sooner if you don’t get me out from under here now!” Demanded the little unseen creature in a desperate loud feminine voice.

“Little Dwarf I don’t want your worthless pretty baubles, nor do I mean you ill, I just don’t want to be shot by one of those vicious dwarven iron bolts which are normally soaked in deadly poison and death to humans… I can’t afford to be wounded or dead… for in fact I am on a rescue mission to save a very close friend, for he’s been taken captive by the Evil master of the Dragon’s eye and it is my intention to kill that bastard and take my lover back.”

“Yes, I know of him, he’s same vile cruel foul fucker, who killed my baby’s father…. Yes human that evil vampire elf needs killing badly it can never be to soon enough; I promise I won’t shoot you with my crossbow and to prove it… here. Just don’t let me give birth here alone under this pile of rough cold heavy stones”

All at once a tiny crossbow came soaring out of the shadows and landed with clunk right at Darkness’ booted feet.

“Hurry human I just got a bad cramp, I hope its not coming now… the weight of these stones is starting to hurt more than a bit!”

“I am hurrying little Dwarf Lady… so what’s your name?” Ask Darkness to distract her from the pain or pains as he made his way toward her carefully, yet quickly as he could over the thickly rubble covered cave floor so the rock and debris wouldn’t cause him to fall down on his face, or worse sharply shift further on to her tiny trapped form.

The Dark Lord heard a low sob and groan and moved forward even faster as he heard a repeated rapid forced breathing and then a tiny tortured cry and then she hissed out a vile curse… then a sharp intense pain seem to overwhelmed her momentarily. When it pasted she cried out to him “Hasten Magic user for I fear Eluki of the Erani gives birth right now!

Ooooo

“Really Drakk, I don’t know how you put up with that stubborn bastard on a regular basis? How dare he force us to come chasing after him in this miserable dark damp scary cave, when we were just about ready to sit down to a nice warm meal in front of nice warm fire. Surely nothing evil could happen to that bastard? He just to powerful, obnoxious, and ruthlessly lucky!”

“But Feles he has been gone so long, what if fell in hole and can’t get out, because he broke something and he needs us badly?” Replied Drakk in soft worried compassionate voice, as he movies the small fire torch he carries carefully about seeking any sign that Darkness pass that way.

“My demon love, I think you’re much too kindhearted for your own good… and I fear he takes advantage of you!”

Just as they rounded a hug boulder jutting out of the cave floor and blocking their way, Feles and Drakk hear a familiar sarcastic laughter, which startles them and stops their forward progress. Just beyond the seeming dark tightly clutching shadows and they see a small dim light reflects off the cave wall behind some more man-sized boulder off to their left, but no one yet is visible to their sight.

Then Seer' Reign's insulting smirking voice echoes loudly through out the cave from concealment in the shadows.

“Beautiful Feles ever the complaining bitch, but he is right I need him badly to carry something carefully and gently for me right this minute, and because he’s my long time kind friend he will be glad to do it for me. And you wont mind will you Drakk? Even though I didn’t actually break something like you feared. While nasty Fe I suppose you’re sort of disappointed that I didn’t…. break something?”

With that Darkness moved rapidly and appeared before them carry something the size of a child wrapped up carefully in the wizard’s heavy cloak. He quickly plunked it gently into the startled red headed demon strong armored covered arms, after making sure the demon took hold on it securely. The wizard once more disappeared back into shadows toward something that was suddenly making a high pitched intense screeching sound, not unlike that of very disturbed tiny crying animal. Almost immediate Seer’ Reign returned carry in his left arm a small leather satchel, a tiny crossbow and a small quiver of tiny bolts, while in his right arm he carried something very small in the crook of his arm that was wailing and twisting wildly in protesting distress, even thought it was carefully wrapped up tightly in a tiny soft blanket into a near perfectly round bundle that was barely five or six inches in diameter across. Darkness manage somehow to position the bundle against his body and then took his right index finger and slipped the tip of it careful just inside the folds of the small blanket and the angry wailing quieted almost instantly accept for a tiny slurping sound!

“Hush my tiny wee Bud, you’ll be taken care of shortly I promise. Stop crying so fiercely or you’ll frighten my brave companions here.” Said a snickering Darkness.

The next thing Feles knew, the leather satchel, the small crossbow and quiver of bolts were shoved not to gently into his arms and against his gut and he was force to take hold of them whether he wanted to or not as Darkness smirked, “Hey, Red why don’t you be useful a well as just ornamental, so I wont drop precious little Bud here, as we make our way back to camp and that nice warm fire you have waiting for us, you know the one you have been complained about missing so much. Now grab that tiny lighted oil lantern hanging on the wall over there while you’re at it and let’s go.”

“Well excuse me for being, hungry, cold, and wet, my moody depressed Lord of Darkness… I didn’t enjoy having to come in search of your wayward ass, when I could be sitting by that nice fire, warming my wet feet, and filling my painfully empty belly with weak meatless stew. Whatever’s in that small moving bundle in your arms better be something made of meat and extra good to eat!” Grumbled Feles in protest as he grabbed hold of the damned fucking lantern.

“Bad Fe, your disgusting, now get moving Feles right now or so help me I’ll knock you on your young pert lazy round ass, mostly certainly your not eating little Bud, for neither I nor his mother would be happy about it. Now lets go for I am very cold and hungry… and so too is little Bud! Yelled Darkness in a loud annoyed voice and then began to mumble under his breath something gruesome about cold-hearted cannibal whores as they headed back to camp at the other end of the cave.

As the party disappeared around corner of the cave wall, a weak squeaky female voice groaned and cried out sharply the strange voice was instantly magnified by the narrow the cave tunnel, “Easy big giant demon boy, not so tight already, I can’t afford broken bones, and please be careful don’t drop these valuable goods either, for I am a mother now and me wee boy needs me!”
