Fate is Unmoving

AN: Thank you all for waiting. here is the next chapter. it will take a little more time to update after this, but this is a reward for being so good and hanging in there >.<

Leo glared across the room at Camrion. How could his friend just sit there on his throne without a care in the world while his charge was forced to stand and serve with the other non-royals. Yes, he was being a brat, but he couldn’t help it. Camrion looked distant, but not out of place at the royal table mere inches away from the king, and for the first time Leo began to really regret his choice. Could he really live as a servant for the rest of his life? No , which meant he needed to get over himself and find a way to get them both out of there.

The royal adviser from earlier suddenly stood up drawing Leos attention back to what was happening at the front of the room. Torean, the adviser, started to give his toast to the happy couple and Leo took the opportunity to look around. The room was the same as before except it was now crowded with a hundred or so Draki all dressed to the nines and servants dressed in simple grey robes scattered the room and walls ready to refill glasses when needed.

At the front of the room was the two thrones and on either side stood vicious looking guards. Torean stood to the left of the thrones as he continued on about how he was proud of to be in the kingdom and how loyal he will be to the new king, blah blah blah; and on the right side was Derrick. He stood with an untouchable air that sent shivers through his body.

Leo forced his eyes away from the Draki Prince and continued his search for an exit. He couldn’t, no he wouldn’t let himself become distracted by those arousing eyes and wicked lips. Sucking in a deep breath and turning away, Leo was able to regain his focus. Making his way through the crowd, Leo found himself feeling even more grateful to Camrion for his robe which allowed him to slowly blend in with the upper class Draki. He slowly made his way to the back of the room. The first thing he noticed was that the main entrance was heavily guarded and there was no way in hell he was getting out that way. The second thing he noticed was a door on the far right wall, hidden behind a column and it was unguarded and Leo went for it without hesitation.

With one quick glance around, Leo tried the door and found it unlocked and  slipped in. inside the room was dark and smelled of old leather. From what he could tell, it wasn’t a very large room, and for a moment he wondered if he had happened upon a closet. It would be just his luck to walk into a dusty dead end. Ready to turn around and admit defeat for now he was stopped by a flicker of light in the corner of the room.

Turning slowly back he was rewarded with another glimpse of what seemed to be a candles light peeking through a crack in the wall. Leo cautiously moved toward it, realizing  once he was close enough that the crack was in fact a small servants door. Taking a breath and counting to three, Leo pushed it open and found a hidden wooden stair case leading up. On the wall was mounted a single candelabra, an half way up Leo saw another one. After a moment of debating with himself, Leo decided to go for it.

The stairs creaked beneath his feet and sent up little puffs of dust as he moved. He didn’t know how far he had gone, but guessed he was a t least midway up another tower similar to the one he and Camrion shared. It was weird not knowing where he was or where he was going. Leo couldn’t help feeling home sick as he continued to trudge  up the steps. If this was his home in Aridone he would be able to get in and out without anyone knowing, but this place was different, it was dark and strange.

Making another turn up the stairs , Leo came to another small door. There was no light on the other side and he couldn’t hear anything. With hope that it was a copy of the empty room downstairs, Leo pushed the door open and fell face first onto a clean wooden floor.

After a moment of regaining his balance and pride, Leo slowly sat up an allowed his eyes to adjust to the lack of light. There were no candles in the room and the only source of light was a sliver peeking through a window curtain. Avoiding shadowed objects that scattered the chamber, Leo made his way to the drapes and pulled them open allowing precious moonlight to poor in. Before he turned around, Leo was struck by the view. Just below the three story window was the biggest most intricately beautiful garden he had ever seen. It was dawned with fountains and a small stream as well as a few gazebos and a bench or two. What really caught his eye however was an onyx statue that stood directly in the middle of the nirvana. It was a Draki woman holding a baby dragon, her onyx hair flowing freely around them both and her wings tucked protectively close, cocooning them. Her stone eyes showed love an admiration for the winged creature in her arms and Leo wondered how they managed to get that amount of emotion out of stone.

After a moment more Leo tore his gaze from the Draki mother, the feeling of sympathy and wonder becoming to much for him, he began to look around . He let his eyes wander over the furniture in the room, a small side table, a dresser, a chest at the end of a bed. Leo immediately froze at the realization that he had strolled right into someone’s bedroom and by the size of the canopied bed an quality of the furniture he had no doubt whose room it was an he needed to leave.

Walking away from the window and back to the door, Leo slowed when he reached the bed. It was vast and  intricately made. The four posts where made of coal clack wood carved with silver. The silk that covered the bed and canopy where deep blue and a sheer silver cover giving the impression of t a clear night . Leo wondered if sleeping on it would feel like flying in a starry sky. He felt himself move closer to the mystical bed and reached out his hand running it over the softest fabric he had ever felt. Giving a quick look around he figured he really should leave, but felt himself moving slowly onto the bed. Leo laid out in the middle of the mattress with his head on the cluster of pillows and started up at the canopy. He was right, the fabric gave off the effect of falling threw the midnight sky.

The smell of the pillows only added to the enchanting experience. It was a mix of wind, roses, and something deeper. Leo sighed as he rolled over, burying his face in Derricks pillows. The intoxicating smell only confirmed his earlier assumption that this was in fact the Draki Princes room. Feeling more safe then afraid at his current situation, Leo felt himself sink deeper into the comforter and no matter how hard he fought it he fell asleep on the enemies bed that strangely felt like home.
