The ride back to Jayce's house was silent. Neither woman could find the words to say. Melissa took a quick glance towards her companion too see a semblance of sadness. A creased brow, and lips in a stern line. She was obviously still grieving the death of her eldest brother. Hell it had been over 24 hours and the woman spent most of the time within the confines of a dreary jail cell.

"I'm...sorry about your brother..." it was quiet and almost unheard. A slight nod of her head and a soft grunt were the only signs of acknowledgement.  Almost as quickly as it had appeared the look was now gone. Jayce flashed Melissa a quick smile but it did not reach her eyes.

"It's...cool." Melissa heard the woman's voice break slightly before she turned her attention back to the window signaling the end of the conversation. It was quiet, much too quiet for Melissa's comfort but she understood the woman's need for it and she turned her focus on the road before her. Within minutes the cruiser was turning into the lanky woman's driveway causing Jayce to let out a sigh of relief. Before the car was at a complete stop Jayce quickly made her way from the vehicle and up the remaining portion of her driveway. Melissa put the cruiser into park and gave the other woman a moment before following after her. Standing beside the woman she could tell her facade was slowly crumbling bit by bit and her body began to shake. After several attempts to open the door Melissa finally took the keys from her counterparts hands and unlocked the door. Within moments of entering the residence Jayce was crumbling to her knees and Melissa was catching her within her arms. Tears began to flow freely as her body was wracked with sobs. Jayce's sobs echoed through the house as her mask came undone  in the arms of a stranger. For the second time in 48 hours Melissa found herself gently running her hand up and down the taller woman's back hoping to help ease the pain she could oly imagine. After what seemed like hours to both woman, Jayce finally began to quiet down taking a few deep breaths before speaking.

"He....he was all i had...." Jayce sounded almost broken as she looked into Melissa's piercing blue eyes, her own now a deep caramel. Tears still continued to trail their way down her cheeks. She quickly closed her eyes and covered her face as she once again began to sob quietly.

"Its gona be alright..." Melissa embraced the woman again and held to her for dear life and rock her again.

"H-how....my....my brother.." She attempted to form the sentence only for her sobs to cause them to become garbled. Melissa nodded her head solemnly and rubbed her back. Once again the sobs began to subside and every so often only light sniffles could be heard.

"We'll get whoever did this." Melissa started causing Jayce to quickly brush her hands over her face., Her cold hard exterior coming back into play as it dawned on her this woman still believed she killed her brother Adam. Her eyes steeled as she pulled herself from the detectives embrace. She slowly made to stand but their awkward sitting positions causing her to stumble slightly before Melissa held out her hand. Jayce reluctantly took hold of the proffered arm, in turning offering her own hand to help the other woman stand.

"I apologize for that." Jayce's tone now short clear cut. A deep breath and Melissa realized that was due to the fact that she was the detective who, not even 24 hours ago, called her a murderer. "Detective Grant, I thank you for the ride../"

"It wasn't any trouble at all, but please, it's Melissa."

"Detective, I'm going to kindly request you leave." A stoic expression, and lips in a tight firm line, a fire in her eyes.

"Miss..." Melissa was cut off.

"unless you have anything important connected to information on my brothers death then i will have to request you leave." Jayce quickly made a point to open the door for the detective.

"Ma'am" Melissa nodded briskly as she made her way out. "have..." she was cut off by the door in her face and the sound of locks turning into place. Letting out a soft sigh Melissa turned back to her car to make a hasty exit off the woman's property.
