Lying

Anna woke up to jumping on her bed. Anna opened her eyes immediately to feel intense pain. She screamed out which didn’t seem to matter but as Anna sat up, using a sheet to cover her naked form, she realized what was happening. Her son Javier was jumping on the bed. Since he was deaf he didn’t hear her screams for him to stop. She signed for him to stop and after smiling he stopped. Anna started to have a conversation with her son who signed to her that he was trying to wake her up as it was very late. Anna covered herself some more as she signed for him for leave the room as she needed to get dressed. Though Javier wanted to stay and signed a question of why she was covering herself, as Anna usually wore some form of pajamas to bed. She told him to check on her mother, which he reluctantly did.

When her little guy left she took off the covers and went for her robe. Though the feel of the terry cloth against her sore nipples was not a good feeling, she knew that she couldn’t walk about naked. Anna looked down at her bed, looking for something that gave some sort of evidence of what had transpired last night. Luckily enough there was no blood, something she worried about. She knew that her mother, who didn’t like Anna taking care of her as she was a proud woman, would come into her room during the day and fix her room. That usually meant that she would remove the dirty sheets on her bed and put in new ones. Though Anna was wary of her doing that, she soon allowed her to as it wasn’t as strenuous as she thought it would be for her. She knew that it gave some self worth to her mother who was lacking it after the stroke. If she had bled, she knew that her mother would know something happened. She knew that it would break the 55 year-olds heart to know what had happened and that she wasn’t there to help her in some way.

Anna looked into her small closet, not sure what to wear. It wasn’t like she had a huge choice to choose from. Thanks to…her Anna had even less. Though she had her stockings, worn shoes, shirt and dark suit jacket, her blouse was ruined. She had ripped open Anna’s blouse so roughly that the first three buttons were gone. That was something she would have to hide as she knew that her mother would get suspicious if she noticed the blouse in any way. So Anna quickly found the blouse which she had stripped off with her other clothes and which were laying near the basket she usually put her dirty clothes in. She took the torn blouse and put it in her purse, hoping to find an inexpensive way to get it fixed.

She then looked back at her closet and decided to wear some sweatpants but not before going to her dresser near her mirror. There she took out some white panties and slowly put those on as her lower body still ached, even after hours of sleep. She then went to her closet, naked from the waist up and found a tank top and put it on sans a bra as she knew that would make her sore nipples hurt even more. She then closed her closet and went out to greet her mother and son.

Her mother was sitting down on the couch, folding some laundry while Javier was sitting on the ground, drawing a picture. Anna limped into the room and sat down but her mother who knew her daughter more than anyone else, knew that something was wrong.

“Mi hija what is wrong?” She looked over at Anna who was in obvious discomfort.

“I’m fine mama. I just…had a long night.”

She looked over at her daughter and shook her head, not believing her. “You do not lie. Do not start.”

Anna shook her head, trying to think of something to say that will make her mother think she is fine.

“Fine…I…fell.”

At this her mother looked horrified and touched her daughter’s hand. “What happened?”

“I wasn’t watching where I was going.”

“You will stay in bed then!” She grabbed her cane and stood up. Anna looked up at her mother who was walking towards her room. Anna suddenly stood up though it hurt. Javier noticed the movement and looked up at his mother who gave him a kind smile. He signed her asking what was wrong and she signed back that everything was fine. Believing his mother he went back to drawing.

Anna went to her room where her mother was, she looked at her pile of clothes and Anna’s eyes widened. That bitch had ripped a little bit of her skirt. Her mother noticed this and slowly grabbed the item of clothing and held it in her hands. She had worked for a seamstress until her stroke and knew how to fix anything and also could notice a tear quite easily. That was good when she was a little girl but not so good at this present moment.

“You took quite a fall to rip this skirt.” She slowly turned to face her daughter. Anna stood at the doorway and nodded her head.

“It got caught on something.” Anna lied and watched as her mother looked at her with a determined look in her fading brown eyes.

“I will fix it.” She had taken it and came closer to her daughter. It was then that Anna shook her head.

“You are in no condition to handle a needle and thread!” Anna grabbed the shoulders of her mother, looking a little frightened.

“I am not that inept!” The older Mesta had fury in her eyes as she looked into her daughter’s eyes.

Anna didn’t care if she was angry. She still held her there. “I cannot let you do this.”

“You do not tell me what to do!” She took a step back and Anna watched her. She sat on her bed and looked into her daughter’s eyes yet again but Anna didn’t budge, even when her hips were starting to pain her. She could still fell her inside her.

“Mama you had a stroke. You have just been able to move your right arm! You cannot think that holding a sharp object is a good idea!”

Anna was almost in tears at this moment. She was so afraid of her mother pushing herself and Anna losing her completely. She didn’t know if she could take it if she lost her mother as she barely survived her having the stroke. Her mother got off of the bed and gently brought her into a hug. A hug that was rather painful to Anna but she didn’t care.

A/N: Not much here but I thought introducing her mother and son was appropriate. The next chapter will be more interesting. I'm sorry it's taken me so long to write this but I have been working on another story that I plan on uploading. It's another older woman/younger woman story though with a teacher this time. Also I love reviews. I need to know what you guys think and if I am doing a good job or it's crap. I'm not arrogant enough to think this is the best stuff ever and am always trying to learn more about writing so that I become a better writer.
