Chapter 5

Warning: this chapter switches from Colton to Brit and from Brit to Jayce.

Chapter 5

Colton heard the doorbell ring, which was weird. No one rang the doorbell unless it was FedEX or UPS and it was past dark. All of Colton\'s friends just walked in and his parents never had anyone over. And if they did, it was a relative the driver picked up from the airport. The doorbell rang 3 more times, one after another, before Colton could get to the door from his room. He room from the front door was up a long flight of stairs on a winding staircase and down the hall first door on the right.

"I\'m coming! Hold on!" Colton called as he got to the last 5 steps. When he opened the door he dropped his open water bottle.

"Hey Colton." The breathing human in front of him wasn\'t as surprised as Colton was. Colton from his prospective, did not look any different, except for maybe a little older. The figure Colton was staring at seemed almost like an out of body experience. Similar to watching himself be shocked at seeing the person in front of him.

A stunned Colton thought he said hello back but from Chad\'s prespective it looked like Colton saw a ghost.

"It\'s been a while." The now strange face of an old friend still stood exactly 2 and 3/4ths inches taller than Colton and about 3 or 4 feet in front of him. "Can I come in?"

Colton snapped out of his daze and felt a cold breeze on his now wet foot. "Oh shit, I hope I didn\'t get you wet." Colton bent down and took off his jacket, picking up the water bottle and soaking up the water on the floor as he spoke. "I\'m sorry, I wasn\'t expecting you to be the one ringing the doorbell. I thought it was going be Mikey, the quarterback at..." Colton caught his tongue before he said Brit\'s name. He stood up and looked at the water bottle but quickly turned his gaze to look at the 6 foot 3, slightly paler version of the now 19-year-old he thought he knew. "...school. Do you want one?"

"One what?" Chad asked, stepping over the jacket and into the house. Colton closed the door behind him.

"You know, one of these." Colton shook the empty water bottle as he finally met Chad\'s eyes.

"Nope. I just came to catch up."

"Are you just stopping by?" Colton played with his new water bottle cap.

"No, I\'m staying with a friend of mine. She\'s having trouble paying the rent and a babysitter. So I told her I would come help."

"Oh, that\'s very nice of you."

"What all have I missed?" They sat down at the island in the kitchen while Colton got a new water bottle.

"I\'ve been really succesful lately. And I\'m HIV positive. So I\'m homeschooled."

"Holy shit are you ok?"

"Yeah, I feel fine, but if I have really long days I get really exhausted and have to sleep for 2 days."

"Well that\'s good I guess. Your immune system is fine?"

"Yeah, the doctor says I\'m really healthy and I feel really healthy, so I\'m ok for now... Let\'s see, what else have you missed. Brit is in high-demand for modeling. He\'s already been featured in 3 different magazines since you\'ve been gone; AP, Teen Vogue, and GQ."

"I saw him in the AP and Teen Vogue."

"Yeah, the GQ spread hasn\'t come out to the public yet... they told me to find a model that was a little more built that could replicate Brit\'s pose but no one could do it, so they stayed with Brit\'s body."

"Wow, how insulting."

"You didn\'t compare Teen Vogue and AP, did you?"

Chad was silent.

"I bet you just saw them in Borders or Barnes and Noble and smiled before you put them back. You know, he doesn\'t eat because of you. He didn\'t go to school for a whole semester because of guess who?" Colton was getting mad when he thought about the past. "Oh, and you want to know what else has happened to Brit? He was raped today. And he just brushed it off like, \'Whatever, I don\'t care.\' He doesn\'t care about anything, whether he lives or dies, eats or sleeps."

"I can make him care."

"No, you need to just leave him alone. He met somebody who can make it better."

"Oh whatever, don\'t you think I\'m the only one who can make him feel anything?"

"You don\'t see him everyday; he\'s not like he was. He\'s not bulimic again. He doesn\'t think he looks good or bad. He doesn\'t even look in the mirror a lot. He just doesn\'t live... at all. And I think you should leave now."

Chad got up and left, knocking over the chair he was sitting on. When he opened the front door, Mikey was currently ringing the bell. Chad looked him up and down. He looked like a quarterback and he was wearing Brit\'s schools\' football jersey. Before the football player in front of him could see it, Chad hit him in the jaw, positioning his fist so the ring on his ring finger cut him. His right hand didn\'t hurt at all compared to the last time he hit someone wearing the ring Brit gave him. It wasn\'t like Chad needed the ring to knock someone down, but if he wanted to cut anyone he needed it.

Brit walked straight to Colton\'s house but when he touched the doorknob he heard loud voices inside.

"How can you press charges?" Colton began. "You raped him!" They weren\'t yelling but Colton was angry and he raised his voice when he was angry.

"He stabbed me, Colton!" It was the quarterback.

"But he\'s Brit! And you raped him. You don\'t know because you\'re new, but you don\'t do things like that to Brit."

"Stop treating me like I\'m a baby! And stop saying I raped him!"

"I\'m a more experienced gay man, you can\'t tell me what to do. I tried to help you because if you can remember, you came out to me and you\'re the one who asked me for help. But what do you do? You go and rape Brit! What did I tell you? I told you Brit is the gay king of this continent. Everybody knows about him. He\'s a legend. Nobody messes with him. Do you understand?"

"Fuck Brit, I hate him!"

"Shut up and listen. Brit has fucked Jeffree Star, Chris Crocker, and practically every other gay man that lives in Hollywood and New York and a few in between, and even two guys who live in Europe. There is a fanclub on 3 websites for people who have fucked, want to fuck, dream about fucking this kid. People will come after you to get revenge. Brit may be small and it may seem like he\'s a social outcast, but he knows the important people and doesn\'t give a shit about the rest. You are in deep shit."

"Whatever, if anyone jumps me, I\'ll sue them."

"You should just stay in the closet and not be gay... ever again."

Brit opened the door and walked in. "You, out." Brit pointed at the quarterback and at the doorway.

"Fuck you!" Mikey ranted about how tough he was and that he didn\'t need to listen to Brit.

Colton whistled and his German Shepherd dog came inside and started barking at biting at the idiot. When he left Brit closed the door and listened to the barking and growling and screaming. It was music to his sweet little ears.

"How long were you listening?" Colton avoided eye contact.

"You said, \'How can you press charges?\' was the first thing I heard."

"Oh...ok, you heard pretty much all of it... I told him about you because for some reason I believed him when he said he was going to quit football and come out of the closet. I thought I would teach him to just stay away from you before he got in over his head."

"You really liked him didn\'t you?"

"I did... I think it was the fact that he was off-limits to everyone else. But he told me today that he\'s fucked half the football team and half the guys from other football teams. I guess gay football players are in a league of their own."

"Yeah... it\'s very secretive and not many people know about it. But it\'s the league where they marry a girl when they\'re older and fuck guys in bathrooms and are miserable. They usually commit suicide too, when they turn 60 they get suicidal."

"Of course you would know about it."

"Yeah, Chris told me about it. He learned in high school what that was about."

"I\'m still really sorry."

"I honestly wouldn\'t consider that rape. He was only 8 and a half inches. And he came really quickly. But it\'s ok, I already have someone on his tail. You won\'t believe today."

"What happened?" Colton sat down and pushed the rolling chair in Brit\'s direction. Brit caught it and rolled over to where Colton was sitting.

"Um, so I go to take care of that business and Jayce, the guy who tattooed me, walks out of this apartment complex across the street from where I walked out. And he sees me."

"Wait." Colton put up his hands. "Jayce is the guy who looks like Chad, right?"

"Yeah."

"Ok, keep going."

Brit explained everything, not forgetting any detail. When he was done talking, he waited for Colton to take it all in and say something.

"I don\'t think he\'s dangerous. He could probably be really good for you, if you let him. Maybe he could help you get over Chad." Colton spoke tenderly and chose his words carefully. Chad was a touchy subject for Brit, even if Colton was the one talking about it. Colton had known him long before Chad did, even though no one would believe them if they said they had known each other for 7 years.

"There isn\'t anything to get over. He\'s gone." Brit and Colton both knew he was back. That letter didn\'t get to J on its own. Not to mention that Colton had just seen him in person. Brit ached just thinking about the person behind the name and turned his face away. Colton would see how much Brit ached if he looked at him.

"Well, it\'s Chad. You know he\'ll show up whenever and wherever he wants to." Colton still spoke with caution. Chad made Brit feel emotions like normal people, whether it was a good or bad feeling. Brit got weird when he felt like a normal person too much.

"It doesn\'t matter. Jayce won\'t see me anyway." Brit twiddled his thumbs trying not to think about Chad.

"That\'s what I\'m for." Colton smiled as he moved closer to Brit. When he got close enough for their foreheads to touch, he kissed Brit\'s cheek and glided his hand over Brit\'s bony body till he passed his hips, torso, neck, finally settling on Brit\'s cheek.

Brit looked into Colton\'s blurry eyes and stared. "I don\'t know what\'s wrong with me," Brit whispered with his eyes closed, "But I don\'t think I\'m human anymore."

"Oh dear." Colton\'s words said that would be a problem but his tone said it didn\'t matter to him. To Brit that meant Colton would love him even when everybody else hated him.

"You keep me alive." Brit spoke so softly that Colton had trouble hearing him, but Colton knew what it meant, whether he could hear it or not. Brit snuggled into the nape of Colton\'s neck. They eventually moved to lay on Colton\'s bed and fell asleep entangled in each other. When Brit woke up he found himself wearing leftover clothes from shoots Colton did. When he looked around, Colton was driving him to school.

While Brit attended school, Jayce attended work. He didn\'t have any of his own clients today, because another artist called in sick so he took on the clients that were 1st timers or would be starting a tattoo and rescheduled everyone else. One of the would-be-starting-a-tattoo was none other than the same subject in all of the pictures that were spread across his table last night.

"You must be Chad. I\'m Jayce, we talked on the phone." Jayce and Chad shook hands. Jayce tried his best not to jump over the counter and beat the living shit out of the guy.

"Yeah, I\'m Chad." He smiled like he was one cocky son of bitch.

"So what tattoo are you getting?"

"143-381 on the back of my neck."

"Oh ok, how do you want the font?"

"I\'m not really sure. I have pictures of the person it\'s about." Chad pulled out his wallet and dug through it. "Oh, here\'s one." Chad put a picture of Brit on the table. He wasn\'t a skeleton when the picture was taken, and he had a certain glow about him. He wasn\'t looking at the camera, he was looking at the photographer, which was probably Chad. "I couldn\'t decide what would be fitting for him. He\'s such a complicated person and our relationship is even more complicated. Can you just write like you normally would on paper but then put things in the background to make it pop?"

"He\'s a client of mine and he doesn\'t like my handwriting." Jayce stared at the picture but Chad didn\'t really notice.

Chad laughed and smiled as if he was still with Brit. "That\'s ok, Brit doesn\'t like a lot of things. We\'ll use mine." Chad wrote on the paper exactly how he wanted it and Jayce walked him over to his tattoo station. He shaved him and applied the stencil. He told Chad to look at it in the mirror and see if he liked it. Chad thought it was hot so they went back to the chair and got to work.

"So what does it mean? 143-381?"

"I love you - I love you. 1 letter, 4 letters, 3 letters. And 3 words, 8 letters total, and 1 meaning."

"Oh, I bet he loved that." Jayce spoke with sarcasm but Chad didn\'t hear it.

"He still does." Chad wreaked with confidence.

"How are you so sure? That picture looks like you haven\'t had a chance to update it in a while."

"Well, no, I haven\'t, but he does. Why? Does he look different now?"

"Yeah, his hair is still black, but it\'s longer, and frames his face in the front, but on the right side it\'s buzzed and the left side is a middle length, between buzz cut and how long the front is. The back is as long as the front. Oh, how could I forget, he\'s a," Jayce paused; he was not about to call him a skeleton,"a lot skinnier."

"Brit can\'t get any skinnier. He had a 24 inch waist when I knew him."

"When he models for clothing companies he gets them to make him a few pairs of jeans that fit him." Colton leaned to the side but he couldn\'t see Chad\'s face.

Chad didn\'t say anything back. He knew just as well as anyone that Brit, of all people, could be skinnier than a 24 inch waist.

"Um...uh, how does he seem to you?" Chad tried starting the sentence differently twice before deciding on how to put it.

"He seems like one of these days he\'s just going to go to sleep and stay there until he molds into his bed."

"No, he won\'t." Chad spoke without doubt. "He just likes being on the verge of molding. That way, everyone thinks he\'s going to die, because he\'s so skinny, and they\'ll leave him alone. And the ones that do bother with him, the ones that try to help him through whatever they think he\'s going through, he pushes them away on purpose, even though the majority of them could probably make him really happy. He\'ll never admit it but he\'s a masochist. His favorite thing is pushing his body to the limits, how much misery he can take; and how many pounds he can lose. Mountain climbers are like that too, but Brit would never climb a mountain."

Chad spoke perfectly loud enough for Colton to hear him over the tattoo gun. He listened to his words, and when he thought about it, it was probably right. "You seem like you know him pretty well."

"No, I\'m the only one who knows him." Colton didn\'t like Chad\'s cocky, son of a bitch, I\'ve-got-more-confidence-than-every-person-in-the-world attitude. "I think I\'ll wait a few more days though, let this tattoo heal before I show it to him. He would like that better."

Jayce couldn\'t think of what Brit would do if Chad just popped back into his life. Although he knew that if they were as close as Chad is letting on, Brit wouldn\'t expect anything less. By the time the tattoo was finished, Jayce couldn\'t tell if he hated Chad more or less than when he first walked in the tattoo shop.

Author\'s note/

flamingfox150- I think I see where you\'re coming from. I\'m sorry, I\'ll try not to jump around.

Kryst Sutures- haha, Brit is a sex Goddess(cause he\'s the girl). He has magical ways of having abnormally large amounts of stamina, even though he never eats. And yes, chapter 5 and 6(maybe 7, I haven\'t gotten that far) will be fairly jam packed with some of Brit\'s deepest darkest secrets. And the closer Chad gets to seeing Brit(i.e. going to see Colton and talking to Jayce about him), the more human Brit begins to act. He lets his walls down even more with Colton, and a little with Jayce by crying in front of him in Chapter 4.
