Chapter 5

Eleven Forty-Seven
Chapter 5

Sebastian walked quickly toward the waiting room, hoping his mother was already there, and ready to take him home. He spotted her sitting against one of the windows, reading a Times Magazine. Smiling, he walked over and tapped her on the arm. “Hey mom. I’m ready to go.” he said as she lifted her gaze from the article she was reading.

She smiled and set the magazine down, “Oh, alright. What did you two talk about?” she asked, leading the way to the car.

Sebastian sighed, and shook his head, “Not for you to know.” He replied, “You never listen when I talk about him anyway, so why start now?” He crossed his arm moodily and waited for his mom to unlock the doors. Everything was fine until everybody decided to gang up against Eric, why couldn’t she understand that?

She sighed, and sat down in the car before unlocking Sebastian’s door, “I worry about you, Sabby.” she said finally, “I really wish you could just open up to me. I feel so lost when I deal with you, You’re always in your own little world, and you never let me in.” Her voice was just above a whisper, barely heard amidst the sounds of other cars on the road.

“What do you care anyway? I used to talk about Eric all the time, to you, to Kyle and Jason. Even Christian has heard about him, and he doesn’t even live with us anymore!” Sebastian cried, “You hated Eric! You hated that I was seeing him, you never even wanted to know how happy he made me, or the things we did together… All you cared about was the few times I showed up hurt. You never got to know him!” He was nearly in tears by time he was finished talking, and his mothers face was completely rigid, the way it always seemed to be when Eric because involved in a conversation.

“See! See, you’re doing it again!” He yelled, “You ask, and then you don’t listen because you’re just waiting for me to say it was Eric, but I know better than that! It wasn’t Eric! You’re a Fucking Bitch! You’re a bad mother! I’ll walk home.” He almost whispered the last sentence before stepping out of the car.

“Sebastian, please… Get back in the car. It’s a long way home.” His mother pleaded. “I’m sorry, But I can’t help how I feel about Eric. Please, just get into the car. I’ll leave it alone, for now.” She grabbed Sebastian’s hand through the still open door, “Please, come back in the car.”

He sighed and sat back down, “I want you to take the restraining order off.” He said as he shut the door. “Believe what you want, but he’s in jail now… and he can’t hurt me there. Please mom. That’s all I’m asking.” he implored. His voice cracked, tears filling his eyes; threatening to overflow, “Mom, you have no idea how hard this is. Mom please, I need to see him.”

Mrs. Stanton shook her head and bit her lip slightly, “We’ll see.” She acknowledged, “I’m not going to promise anything, Sabby…” After a long moment of silence, she started the car, and began driving. “Kyle… Kyle said the same thing, he said you should be able to see Eric once in a while. I don’t know if I agree, but I suppose I could talk to your councillor and your father and see what they think.”

“Thank you.” Sebastian whispered, letting the car grow awkwardly silent again.

“Sup, bro?” Kyle asked as he sat on the edge of Sebastian’s bed, “Jason’s here. Thinking you might want a bit of company.” He smiled as Sebastian removed his arm from his eyes. “C’mon, come watch a movie in my room. I think Jason brought The Dark Crystal and Legend.”

Sebastian laughed a little, “Bring ‘em in here, I don’t feel like moving. I got my TV and shit hooked up last night when I was bored.” He pointed toward the general direction of the television and entertainment center. “I’m really tired, but yeah, if you bring them in here, I’ll watch.”

“Sounds good to me.” Kyle smiled and walked back out of the room.

The two returned a few minutes later, while Sebastian was setting up the VCR. “Those are on vhs… Right?” He asked, hoping to all hell that they hadn’t been turned to DVD. He hated all the old Disney movies now that they had been turned to DVD. It seemed to ruin it somehow. All the ‘enhanced sound and color’ bullshit pissed him off; and just for the record, Bambi’s mom did die in the beginning of Bambi; Stupid fuckers.

“Of course, kid. How you been anyway? You had a session with.. uhh.. Roberts or whatever, didn’t you?” Jason asked, setting the bag down beside Sebastian before sprawling out on the bed beside Kyle. “She seems like a bitch, a stupid one at that.”

Sebastian laughed and put The Dark Crystal in the VCR, “Yeah. We talked about that party, where I met him… She wants to talk to you guys about it too, by the way. I’m not sure if she believes me, about him.” He replied.

“Yeah, I’ll talk to her I suppose.” Kyle agreed after a few moments.

“BOYS! Could you come down here for a moment? I need to talk to the three of you.” Mrs. Stanton called up the stairs. “It’s really important.” She added when she didn’t get an answer.

Sebastian sighed and paused the movie, “Yeah, we’ll be right there.” He shouted back. “Should we talk to her, then finish the movie, or finish the movie first?” He asked the others.

Jason shrugged, “May as well talk to her. I’m finally in her good graces don’t wanna fuck it up to soon.” He grumbled sitting up and stretching from his awkward position on the bed between the two younger boys. “Do you know what she wants?”

Sebastian sighed, “I have no idea. Actually, maybe I do. I talked to her about seeing Eric. Could be about that.” He exclaimed suddenly anxious to talk to his mother. Although it had only been a few months since the last time they talked, it felt like years. He was not used to being without his lover for more than a week at most.

“Oh? Hmm, I talked to her about that too. About a week ago, we were talking about him.” Kyle replied, also sliding off the bed. “She wasn’t to impressed with the idea though; I thought it would be better to not get your hopes up, ya know.”

“Yea, no worries.” Sebastian replied as he walked towards the door hoping that whatever came out of his mothers mouth would be good news. Usually it wasn't. It truth, it was probably about what to have for supper, or another lecture about staying out to late at night.

Jasnon wrapped his arm around Sebastians shouled and held him back a bit, “I don't liek Eric,” He said finally, “I never liked Eric. He treated you like shit and got you in trouble with Nemesis more than once. I can't tell your mom, or your Councilor that he was good person. I can't lie about that.” His arm tightened around the younger boys shoulder as he felt them droop. “I know he made you happy, Sabby. It just doesn't take away from the days you spent in hospital because of him.”

Sebastian nodded, unsure of what to say to the man who had cared for him in so many ways, “I know. I can't... I can't leave him, Jason. It hurts too much to pretend that there was nothing between us. I still love him. Dispite all the times he hurt me, I still love him.”

Jason shook his head, “Well, we may as well go see what your mother has to say.” He dropped his arm and walked quickly down the stairs leaving Sebastion alone to think about what he had said.

“I'm glad you finaly decided to join us, Sebastian.” his mother remarked when Sebastian walked into the kitchen, fifteem minutes later than the other two. “I think you'll be happy with what I have to say.” She said as she pulled out a chair next to Jason for him to sit on.

“Thank you.” He replied as he sat down. “Sorry I'm late.”

His mother only nodded before pulling a chair out for herself, “As I said, Sebastian, I have... good news.”

“About Eric!?” Sebastian almost begged, his eyes closed, “Please, mom...”

Before he could say more, his mother interupted him. “Yes, about Eric. I phoned you're councilor, as well as your father, after we got home. Both agreed it might be best if you could have a few minuts a week to see Eric; as long as both Jason and Kyle acompany you, and agree speak with Dr. Roberts about the visits once a month.”

Sebastian opened his eyes, and looked pleadingly at Kyle, and then Jason. “Please.” he all but begged, when Jason looked away. “Jason, please. I need this more than you could ever know.”

“I'll think about it.” He replied finaly. “I'll get back to you tomorrow.”
