A shiver went up my spine as I changed back into the human me. Looking around, I noted I was in one of the Darkalley Bats cabins with a dead body in my arms.
“Vlad,” I called. Vlad rushed in, took one look at me and sighed heavily.
“Do you remember-?”
“No, I don’t remember anything,” I snapped interrupting Vlad. He flinched at my harshness but walked over to me.
“You could have told me you hadn’t eaten for more than a month,” he whispered as he took the body out of my arms. I was about to comment when a vibe went through my body.
Tyler…
“Where’s Tyler? Have you seen him,” I asked. Vlad smiled knowingly but shook his head.
“No, I haven’t seen Tyler. Why are you so worried? He can take care of himself,” Vlad said smirking. I glared at him and ignored the question.
He rolled his eyes as I looked for a mirror. When I found a mirror, I frowned. My hair was a mess and the ends were covered in blood. Dried blood was on my lips and chin. I looked paler and my eyes had changed to dark red.
Grabbing a towel, I wiped as much blood as I could. Vlad sighed dramatically before flicking his hand. My hair straightened and the blood vanished.
“Thanks Vlad. Now, can we go and find Tyler,” I whined.
“Not until I’m sure you’re the same. Do you know where your brother is,” Vlad asked.
“Why would I care where he is,” I snapped. “All he does is ruin my life and take what’s mine.”
“You’re the same,” Vlad said smiling. I chuckled as I stretched my arms.
“Can we just go and find Tyler already?” Vlad nodded and opened the door. I grabbed his arm and dragged him with me.
Letting my vampire instincts go, we headed into the boardwalk. Vlad stopped me and signaled to be quiet.
“Leave us the fuck alone,” I heard Tyler say. I tried to help him but Vlad kept me back.
“Why does Bahri hang out with you? Doesn’t he know about your past or did you not tell him,” Bonnie said to Tyler. I froze as the words settled into my mind.
‘What did she mean by that,’ I thought as Vlad nudged me. I looked around and saw Tyler walking our way with Sara.
“Do I have to tell him,” Tyler was whining to Sara. I smiled and walked over to Tyler.
He stopped talking and watched me. I stopped in front of the two and looked at Tyler carefully. He seemed to be fighting with himself about something.
“Well, I’ll be going to see what Vlad’s doing,” Sara said before walking towards Vlad. Tyler glared at her but nodded. I lightly touched Tyler’s arm and was surprised that he flinched.
“Bahri, I have to tell you something,” Tyler whispered. I nodded as we headed towards the dorm.
“Does this have anything to do with your past,” I asked lightly. Tyler glanced at me and nodded.
“So you heard, huh? Just tell me you won’t leave me or try and kill the person,” Tyler said.
“I wouldn’t think of leaving you but when you mention killing, that's another story,” I stated as we entered the dorm. Tyler smiled sadly at me as I sat down.
“Okay, um, you know how I haven’t been able to go… further with you,” Tyler asked slowly. I nodded. “There’s a reason why. My father… he, um… why can’t I say it!”
“Tyler, relax! Why don’t you show me what you’re trying to say,” I advised. Tyler looked at me for a second before closing his eyes.

“Tonight we’re going to have some fun,” Tyler’s Father said as he stepped in the room. Tyler screamed as loud as he could, but no one was there.
His Father smiled nastily as he pulled him against his body. He crushed his lips against Tyler’s. He tried to get away from him but he held Tyler tighter.
“You’re going to pay for everything you’ve done, bitch. No one will be able to hear your screams,” Father said as he ripped clothes off Tyler. Tyler tried to fight him but he pinned me down.
“Let the fun begin,” he said nastily. Tyler screamed as everything started to turn black…

“He,” I started but my voice trailed off. Tyler nodded and hesitantly stepped in front of me.
“Do you think different of me? Sara told me how you looked earlier today and I knew I had to tell you… Okay, Sara nagged me to but I-.”
I silenced Tyler with my lips. I moaned as our lips connected. Tyler’s hands found they’re way to my neck and latched on to it. I licked his bottom lip for access. He opened his lips and I devoured him.
We both pulled away with the need of oxygen. Our eyes connected and we both refused to look away.
“Does that answer your question,” I whispered. Tyler slowly smiled before nuzzling my neck. I sighed and ran my fingers through Tyler’s hair.
“You should probably start classes again,” I said causing Tyler to whine. I smiled knowingly.
“Do I have to go to classes,” Tyler asked as he finished putting on his uniform. I smiled and turned around.
“Yes, you do. Otherwise your brain will rot and I don’t think you want that to happen,” I teased lightly.
“Ha, ha, very,” Tyler started but stopped as he stared at my chest. He took a deep breath before looking into my eyes. “Can you put on a shirt?”
I chuckled as I pulled on a shirt. Tyler moved closer to me and gently laid his head on my shoulder. We staid that way for a couple of minutes before Tyler moved away.
“Are you ready,” he whispered. I nodded and followed him outside. We silently made our way to Sara’s room.
“Sara,” Tyler called once we had reached her door. Inside, I heard someone shuffling around inside before the door opened.
“Bahri, Tyler, good to see you two,” Sara said all politely. I nodded but her politeness was suspicious. “Are we going to class?”
“Of course, why,” Tyler asked panicking slightly. I lightly placed a hand on his shoulder. He seemed to calm down a little but still was jumpy.
“Well, I was just wondering since you’d be reciting your latest poem,” Sara said emphasizing latest. I looked at Tyler carefully but he refused to look at me.
“I-I know and I think I’m ready,” Tyler stammered. I let my hand travel to Tyler’s and gave it a squeeze.
“Okay then, let’s go,” Sara said eyes flicking towards me before walking ahead. Tyler and I quickly followed behind.
“So, what was that,” I asked playfully. Tyler watched me carefully before looking at the floor.
“I had written a poem during the time of your dreams. Sara was just making sure I wanted you to hear it, which, I have to say, I think I’m ready for.”
I smiled as Tyler moved a closer to me. Sara glanced back at us a couple of times with a huge grin on her face.
“We’re here,” Sara exclaimed once Tyler and I had caught up to her. I looked inside and tried hard not to laugh.
A group of about five students were huddled in a circle while an adult was reading a magazine. The students were all chatting loudly and laughing even louder. I was surprised that the Teacher didn’t even try to stop them.
“So, this is your class,” I asked raising my eyebrow at Tyler. Sara tried to cover her laugh by coughing but it was useless.
“No one would watch us,” Tyler blurted. He blushed lightly and shifted uncomfortably. “Just promise not to stare.”
After agreeing to Tyler, Sara opened the door and we all entered. Every eye turned to look at us – me, as the room filled with an intense silence. Tyler coughed loudly causing everyone to look at him instead of me.
“Guys, this is Bahri. He’s here as my guest, so don’t scare him,” Tyler stated. The group nodded and glanced at me.
“Mr. Banner, can I have the attendance sheet,” Sara asked. Mr. Banner flung a clipboard at Sara without even looking up. She caught and begin checking of people’s names.
“While Sara does that, who wants to go first,” Tyler suggested. I watched as no one moved or spoke up. Tyler sighed as he took out a piece of paper form his pocket. “Fine, I’ll got.”
I took a seat as Tyler walked to the front of the room. Sara smiled at me when our eyes connected and I looked back at Tyler, only to see that he wouldn’t look at me.
“Who is the stranger, the one in my dreams?
The one that comforts me with an unknown presence,
Or the one that understands me while others don’t seem to care.
Who is this stranger, the one in my dreams?”
My mind was completely focused on every word that passed through Tyler’s lips. His words held more importance then what they were supposed to.
“Long black hair falls beyond shoulders while purple eyes watch my every move.
The caring face that warms my heart and comforts my soul
Who is the stranger, the one in my dreams?”
When Tyler ended, his eyes locked with mine and raw emotion flashed through them: love, depression, and confusion. I tried to look away but found that it was hard to.
“So,” Sara said loudly. Tyler and I slowly looked away from each other and at Sara. “Who wants to go next?”
As someone got up and moved to the front of the room, Tyler walked over to the vacant seat next to me. I could feel his eyes on me but I kept my gaze on the speaker at the moment.
“Bahri, I-”
“Tyler, can we talk about this back in the dorm,” I whispered finally looking at Tyler. He held his gaze before looking down at his hands.
“Okay.” I grabbed one of his hands and gave it an encouraging squeeze. He smiled shyly and turned towards the person talking.

“Bahri, we have to go to Latin next,” Tyler said as we left the poetry class. “I also have to stop at the café and get my uniform and schedule.”
“For what,” I questioned, stopping briefly to look at Tyler. He rolled his eyes as I continued walking.
“When I first came here, my mom didn’t really give me extra money. So, I worked at the café to make money and haven’t had the heart to stop working.”
“You work at the café,” I stated slowly. Maybe Vlad could go back to training me to be a vampire while Tyler was working at the café. “Would Sara be with you?”
“Yeah, why,” Tyler asked glancing at me. I couldn’t help the smile that spread across my face as I began planning.
“Vlad said he’d help me with overcoming my…vampire inheritance. He couldn’t do it here since I didn’t have your schedule and didn’t really trust anyone around here.”
Tyler nodded as we made a sharp turn. A group of people were passing by but stopped when they saw Tyler. I was surprised that they hurriedly walked away from us.
“Do I want to know what that was about,” I asked half jokingly.
“No, not really,” Tyler said coldly. I made a note to ask Sara about it.
“So, would be okay if I practiced with Vlad during the day and then you have me for the evening?”
“Well, you need to practice and I need to work. I think the answer is pretty obvious.”
“Okay, we need to work out the timing and everything with Vlad and Sara. I’m going to have to skip Latin and try and find Vlad. You aren’t disappointed are,” I asked lightly touching Tyler’s arm.
“Not really, besides the fact that I’m the top student in the class and it’s the only class I actually understand.”
I saw the disappointment written in Tyler’s eyes but knew not to mention it. Giving Tyler a quick kiss on the cheek, I sprinted across the school to Vlad’s dorm.
“Vlad,” I shouted as I banged on his door. A sleepy looking Vlad answered the door with barely open eyes.
“What the heck do you want from me,” Vlad mumbled. I grinned and pushed my way inside, ignoring Vlad’s protests.
“You said you wanted to teach me how to control my vampire side. I found a way you could,” I stated. Vlad stood still for a minute before slowly starting to wake up as the news finally hit him.
“How on earth did you do that,” Vlad asked excited.
“Tyler works at the school café, so while he’s there (and maybe during his classes) I’ll be able to train with you.”
“Okay, so where are we going to do this?”
“In the unoccupied Darkalley cabin,” I answered immediately. Vlad raised an eyebrow but nodded.
“Can we start tomorrow? I have to find the book from the palace and that’ll take awhile.”
“We have to. I promised Tyler that we would discuss a schedule with Sara and him later today.”
Vlad nodded before his form slowly melted into a cat. I sat down by the desk and opened Vlad’s artist pad.
“Bahri, get your own art pad,” Cat-Vlad hissed. I ignored him and started to draw the first thing that came to mind.
“Fine, but I’m going to see if Troy spotted… well, you-know-who.” I merely nodded as I put the finishing touches on my picture.
Ripping the picture out of the pad carefully, I gently folded it and placed it in my back pocket. Vlad (in human form) came rushing in just as I stood up.
“Bahri, find Tyler now. Troy said that you-know-who is on the way,” Vlad said breathlessly. Without even a thank-you, I rushed outside and towards the café.
People stared at me as if I was crazy, but I didn’t care. My brother was coming and that meant Tyler was in danger…
