Hallelujah

I've heard there was a secret chord
That David played, and it pleased the Lord

And so months went by and all was right in the world for the two lovers. Jodi worked as a teacher for Jorge, who was extremely happy, and, unlike the last number of teachers, the students really seemed to like her. The principle’s excitement and sincere gratitude was reflected in the large sum of money she saw when she received her first paycheck.

Alex was happy that Jodi was getting used to her friends and acquaintances and at the same time breaking the hearts of admirers. One day, just as Alex was saying bye to the nurses at the desk, a pair of small hands blocked her vision, ones that belonged to certain brunette she loved. She removed the hands and kissed the smaller woman in front of her staff.

But you don't really care for music, do you?

“Does that mean you’re off the market,” asked a blonde coworker. “Yes,” Jodi declared, peeking around the blonde’s body to address not just the woman who asked, but the people who were present, “And she’s never going back.” This got a chorus of sad sighs making Alex laugh while leaving the office. “You just broke the hearts of my fan club,” the doctor responded while Jodi just shrugged and followed Alex out the building.

It goes like this the fourth, the fifth
The minor fall the major lift

They had two different routines. One would call the other during lunch to say that they were going to pick the other up. Once quitting time came around, one was waiting for the other and they would drive home in Jodi’s birthday present from Alex, a Civic Sedan. Once the two would eat dinner talk about how their days went watch some TV and then go to bed.

The baffled king composing Hallelujah

Or they would go routine number two on other days, which seemed frequent for them, they would come home, stumble upstairs kissing trying to get out of their work clothes, plop onto the nearest bed and spend the next thirty minutes exploring each others body with feather like touches, groaning and moaning until they were pushed over the edge.

Hallelujah, Hallelujah

But then Alex got a part time job at a nearby hospital and everything changed.

Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Chapter 6
[=========================]
Hallelujah

“She got off late again,” said Jodi who sat on the couch in the big and empty house. Sage had gone out with Pepper and was probably at the red-head’s place. Directly in front of her the television, the only source of illumination in the quiet home, broadcasted some random comedy. Crash, ever the lazy dog, was seated next to his master’s girlfriend on the couch, curled up in a ball, half paying attention to what the man on the screen was saying and what the other human was doing.

The midnight news came on and Alex was still not at home. The petite brunette, dressed in a night gown, watched the large television and every so often glanced at the front door. A month ago the doctor was offered a small position at an understaffed hospital blocks from her office. All she had to do is work evening shifts that were from five to ten but sometimes when the hospital had a lot of patients she didn’t return until around twelve or one in the morning. Though it was helpful to them financially, the job was not helping their relationship. Jodi would come home and wait until Alex came home. Sometimes she would fall asleep on the couch waiting for the doctor and wake up in her bed with the blonde sleeping soundly next to her.

Your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof

Sometimes the front door would open and shut and Crash, who was sleeping next to Jodi, would wake up and run to his master demanding to be petted. After the animal’s welcome, Alex would walk into the living room, tired and weary, and chastise Jodi for staying up. Then she would go into the kitchen and get a glass of fruit punch and anytime Jodi asks for some, Alex states that there is no more before going into her room and falling fast asleep.

Or, for some rare days when Alex’s service was not needed at the hospital, the two would fall into the second routine, making Jodi forget her doubts, and this would make the two very happy. Very happy indeed.

But lately the hospital has been busy, an epidemic of some strange virus going around the community, affecting both adults and children, and causing Alex to come home late, so late that lately she’s been cold to everyone around.

Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you

The sound of a car being locked brought Jodi out of her thoughts. The door finally creaked open around 2:15 a.m. revealing a very haggard and worn out Alex. Still dressed in a dirty medical coat, the blonde dragged her body through the living room, past the TV, the seated Jodi and now seated dog, and headed to the kitchen.

“Hey,” said the teacher but her greeting fell on deaf ears as the blonde shrugged the white coat off her shoulders. It fell in a heap once she entered the kitchen. Jodi looked over the couch, saw the blonde opened the fridge and searched it, looking for something, but whatever she was looking for wasn’t there. Alex clearly displayed her frustration by slamming the door shut, almost making the contents on top of it fall.

“Hey be careful with the fridge. Just because you can’t find your juice doesn’t mean that you can take it out on the appliances,” Jodi remarked. “Piss off,” Alex grumbled as she stomped up the stairs. Stunned and extremely agitated, Jodi got up from the couch, much to the sadness of Crash but this was the final straw for the brunette. Once she reached the top of the stairs she walked to the blonde’s door and almost kicked the door down. It swung open to reveal the unfriendly woman curled up in a ball on the bed, her back facing Jodi.

She tied you to a kitchen chair
She broke your throne and she cut your hair

“Get out Jodi,” she commanded, her voice cracking.

“No. I want to know what is causing you to act like such a bitch.”

Alex groaned, turned over, and sat on the edge of the bed to face her girlfriend, a concerned look on her small face. Jodi saw that the doctor was sweating profusely and that her hands were shaking. “It’s none of your concern. Just…just go,” the blonde ordered wiping the sweat off her brow. And once again the brunette ignored the commands. “Is this about the juice, Jodi wondered out loud, “What’s so special about it?” Alex just started to rub her temples like something was attacking her brain that very instance. Her lover’s unresponsiveness now infuriated Jodi. “Well,” she sneered, “What if I told you I was the one who threw it out?”

And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah

Alex looked up in horror when the now towering brunette said that. She asked in a small voice, “You threw it out?”
“Yeah,” Jodi lied crossing her arms over her chest. In fact, ash she recalled in her mind, Sage had taken the last of the juice before leaving on his date but she believed if she lied about throwing it out she would be able to find out the secret of that juice.

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Alex stared at the petite brunette in absolute shock but the look of shock slowly turned into one of unbridled anger. Before Jodi could say anything, the blonde rose to her feet and backhanded her into the wall; so hard that Jodi could feel an intense stinging on her cheek. She tried to move her hand to caress the throbbing skin but cannot. Alex is holding her against the wall by the wrists. Jodi whimpered as Alex's grip got tighter on her wrist. "Please Alex. Let me go!" Alex ignored her pleas and laid her head on the frightened woman's neck. Jodi could feel the blonde's hot ragged breath on her neck before she cried out and felt a pair canines sink painfully into her skin.

Maybe I’ve been here before
I know this room, I've walked this floor

The taller woman released the brunette's neck and whispered in her ear, "Why? You threw it out so I’m going to have to get it from somewhere.…” Jodi's eyes went wide as she shook harder from what Alex said to her. "Alex, what are you doing? What's the matter with you?" She pressed herself harder against the wall, wishing she could get more distance from her girlfriend. Alex released her grip on Jodi's wrists only to clench one hand on the petite woman's waist, while the other hand cupped her chin forcing her to look at Alex’s face and what she saw deeply disturbed her. Her eyes were no longer a calm blue but a deep blood red. That alone sent warning flags in her mind. She was smiling an evil smile, a bloody smile, and it told Jodi that she was in deep trouble. “It was so sweet and warm…but I want it from somewhere warmer… and guess who has her ‘friend’ right now?" Before Jodi could even decipher the cryptic message the tall woman dropped to her knees and hikes up the nightgown. In a blur Jodi’s underwear was ripped off her body.

I used to live alone before I knew you

The state of half nakedness brought Jodi out her state of confusion. 'This is not the woman I fell in love with. This is some kind of monster.' "Let go of me," she screamed as she hits the woman's temple. The blonde looked up at Jodi and growled at her, promptly silencing the petite woman but not stopping the blows. The blows became more frequent as Alex spread the brunette's legs and latched her mouth onto Jodi's sex. The smaller girl couldn't help but to let a moan as a tongue massaged and cleaned her bloody tunnel. She tried to push the woman away. Jodi could feel the blonde's nails bite into her hips harder as Alex spread her captive’s legs wider, trying to get more of that crimson delicacy.

The smaller woman couldn't help but finally release a longing moan and cursed her traitorous body in her mind. What Alex was doing was not pleasurable. It shocked and disgusted her but her body...her body wanted more. Jodi whimpered at the feel of the blonde's tongue probing deeper into her passage. "Alex...Please....stop this..." the brunette started to struggle against the blonde. “You know this...isn't right..."

I've seen your flag on the marble arch
Love is not a victory march

Alex ignored Jodi's cries as she journeyed deeper. Her tongue had discovered the hymen, her final barrier but her cloudy mind prevented her from destroying it. Her body shivered at the overpowering scent coming from Jodi. "Stop," she said as she started sobbing. Alex soon heard a cry escape the brunette's lips as a torrent of liquid entered her mouth. Full and satisfied, Alex rose to her feet and went back to bed, licking the blood off her lips, like nothing happened, just as Jodi, stunned, slumped to the ground.

It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah

To say she was horrified about what just happened would be an understatement. She felt sick; she was mortified that someone like Alex would have the capacity to perform such a thing. Her mind decided to do the safest thing and retreat into a mental limbo, leaving her body in full control. The brunette moved slowly and sluggishly to her feet, like she was in a catatonic state. Her body moved her quickly out of the room, but quiet enough not to wake the slumbering demon on the bed. She walked into her room and changed into a shirt and a pair of loose fitting jeans before leaving the house and walking where her legs lead her to.

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Mike’s Tavern was crowded to say the least. Friends and strangers alike were whether sober, drunk, or desperately trying to wash their troubles away in liquor. A tall man in his mid-forties walks into the crowded establishment, gray eyes scan the crowd before he moves towards the busy bar keep. He orders a scotch and looks again at the crowded bar for a vacant table but the only thing close to vacant was a table that was occupied by a female surrounded by empty shot glasses.

“I’m sorry m’am. There were no other free seats left in the room.” But the brunette just waved his excuse and moved the crowding glasses to the side. “S’ok,” she said in a slightly slurred tone. The two drank their alcohol in silence for a while before Jodi asked, “So what brings you here, you stranger, you?” He sips his drink and waits for the burning in his throat to stop before answering. “I’m looking for someone.”

There was a time you let me know
What's real and going on below

“Well,” the woman says before her head hits the tables and she stops moving. Concerned for his drinking partner, the man leans over and pokes her side several times before her head shot up from the table. “The course of true love never did run smooth,” she exclaims before her head falls back to its former resting place. The bar goes silent and all eyes are on the man and his sleeping companion. He looked at the staring eyes and scratched the back of his head. “She’s a Shakespeare professor. They were doing Midsummer Night’s Dream.” Some nodded while others just shrugged. The brunette wakes up and starts taping one of the empty glasses, “What does this person look like? Maybe I can help and maybe I cannot.”

“A female. Blonde shaggy hair, about 5”9’-ish, blue eyes, goes by...”
“Hey you described my girlfriend to a tee,” the woman explained gaily, almost falling off the chair. She was so drunk she did not see the man’s face darken with mischievous glee. “Really? Do you know where she is now,” the man hopefully asked. “Yeah,” replied the woman as she searched the empty glasses for a filled one, “but believe me you don’t want to go there,” the brunette who was leaning back on the chair, another drink in hand, “She’s a bit pissed off because I threw out her juice. I mean, she even bit me!” She cranes her neck to the side and shows the man the pinkish wounds. “Didn’t think she was the kinky type.” She laughed at her little joke and leaned back on the chair too far causing her to fall over. The last thing she remembered was the man standing over her before she blacked out.

But now you never show it to me, do you?

When Jodi woke up she noticed two important things: The first was that she was no longer in Alex’s room or even in the house. From her surrounding it looked like she had wandered into an abandoned warehouse of some sort. Her resting place was in a large room with just a large window and a door. She went to the door and twisted the knob, only to find it locked. That’s when she noticed or rather felt the second important thing as an invisible bat kept smashing itself over her head. She walked towards the large window, rubbing her temples and peered through it. On the other side of window she saw a behemoth of a man sitting on a chair, polishing a very large sword. His graying hair looked like it wasn’t washed in decades and the old overcoat and pants looked like they suffered the same fate.

“Where am I? Who are you? And why the hell does my head hurt?”

The man looked at the scared woman behind the glass and grinned. "In a warehouse at the far edge of town, miss. I'm surprised though that that blood snatching fiend found another playmate so quickly." Jodi got to her feet and ran to the glass divider. “But don’t worry miss; there are small holes in the glass so you won’t suffocate.” Once her pounding headache disappeared she began banging on the glass.

And remember when I moved in you?
The holy dark was moving too

“Look,” she stated in between her hits against the divider, “I don't know who you're talking about and I don't care just let me go!" The man laughed and placed the sword to the side. He took a few steps towards Jodi who began to back up, forgetting that there was glass that was separating them. "Sorry, no can do,” the man said, pressing his face on the glass, “Not until that undead girlfriend of yours gets her arse over here. I know she got the message and the picture." Jodi ran towards the glass once she heard that Alex had something to do with this crazy man.

And every breath we drew was Hallelujah

“How do you know Alex and what do you want with her,” she demanded, no longer afraid of the man. He sneered and backed up from the glass. “Let me introduce myself,” he said bowing, “Bruno Croix, vampire slayer. And your dear Alex is the next one on my hit list.” Jodi had to place her head on the cool glass to stop her spinning head. “Wait.. a vampire? Alex? But they don’t exist?”

“Like those marks on your neck don’t exist?”

“What?”

“Turn your neck to the glass,” commanded Bruno. Half of her brain told her to ignore what this crazy man was saying and trying to figure a way out. But at the same time the curiosity that ran through the other side of her brain was saying to check just in case and so Jodi did. She craned her neck away from the glass and felt her heart drop into her stomach and her face paled. Near where her neck met her shoulder were two healing holes. Did that mean…?

“Fortunately for me,” he said, “I was able to save you before she could turn you. So now I’m just you using for bait to lure her here to repay the years of pain and aguish she caused me.”

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Flashback – 1976

Bruno Croix, scientist and inventor, was on top of the world. He had just finished his latest creation, a strength amplifier and was ecstatic to hear that the government wanted to buy his work and give him more money. To top his best day ever all he wanted to do was come home, eat his dinner, and shag his wife. Just normal things that happened on normal nights. He parked the car on the driveway and walked towards the front door. All the lights are off so he assumed that his wife, Ellen, has gone to sleep.
He quietly moved through the dark house and opened their bedroom door expecting to see his wife, sleeping peacefully under the sheets. Instead he gets a fist to the stomach which knocks him out.

Bruno wakes up and finds his wrists and ankles chained a chair facing the empty bed. He hears noise and yells hoarsely at the intruder. "COWARD! SHOW YOURSELF!!"

Maybe there's a god above
And all I ever learned from love

“Up here jackass.” He looked up and sees a blonde woman hanging upside down on the ceiling. "Alexandria," he states in the calmest voice he could manage but still even he could here the fear in his voice when saying the demon’s name. The sly vampire cocked her head to the side and grinned at her captive. The vampire smiled and dropped to the bed, turning towards the bounded man. Alex yawned and crossed her arms over her chest, a sadistic smile on her face. "Well if it isn't Bruno Croix! Fancy meeting you here!" She looked around the room and whistled. “Nice place you have here,” her smile growing larger as she said the next sentence, “Almost nice as your wife.”

Bruno’s face paled. He had forgotten about Ellen. “Where's my wife you unnatural whore," he screamed, thrashing in the chair. She leaned over and smacked Bruno hard making sure her nails left cuts on his face, "Hey! Stop with the names. I though your pappy taught you better. Besides people are sleeping." She snapped her fingers and in walked Ellen, her eyes glazed over, dressed in her birthday suit. She slowly got onto the bed and seated herself on Alex's lap, her faced pressed into the crook of the blonde's neck. The blonde began caressing the woman’s hair. “Hey Bruno,” she said maliciously, “She was a good fuck.”

The slayer roared in anger and almost tipped the chair over. "Let her go you demon spawn!!" Alex hissed, her teeth bared and eyes glowing at the shackled man. "What, and let her live like you did my parents or Pam? My family did nothing to hurt humans. Heck, we got our blood from blood banks during the war. Yet you and your father and his followers decided that we must pay for a crime we did not commit," She pulled out a handgun and pointed it at Bruno, "Killed my mother and father while they protected others....Killed my love, a mortal! She did not deserve to die!!"

Was how to shoot at someone who outdrew you

"I can here them right now...," She stared defiantly at the unmoved man, "They want revenge, they want me to slit your throat, bash your head in, feed from you... But I won't do those things. You deserve to suffer like they did, like I have."

She brushed Ellen's hair from her face and leaned her neck to the side, her pale skin caught by the moonlight. "You brought this down on yourself when you killed the people I loved." And with that being said, the vampire brought her fangs down and bit through the woman's skin, Bruno's screams echoing in the house. Ellen's grip on the taller woman became weaker and weaker and the two fell onto the bed. Alex stopped feeding from the woman and sighed before burping. Ellen's blood leaked from the puncture wounds and onto the bed sheets, staining them. When Alex looked at the man she saw rage, an immeasurable amount of rage and anger. "You monster," he screamed.

And it's not a cry you can hear at night,
It's not somebody who's seen the light

"Me? A monster,” she said with in cruel tone. “Oh no, not until I’ve done this..." Alex gathered Ellen's limp body and placed it onto her lap. She then took her nails and cut wrist, hissing and making sure that Bruno saw. His eyes widened and his escape efforts became more frantic. "No you can't. Please!! Have you no soul!?!"

She looked at him with cold eyes, eyes that could probably freeze hell. "I’m a vampire, I have no soul and if I hade one it was taken when you killed Pam." She placed the wound towards Ellen's mouth and let her blood run. Once the first few drops hit the woman's tongue her eyes flew open and she attached her mouth onto to the wound sucking like a vacuum and making Alex groan. Alex has to wretch her arm away from the feeding woman in order to prevent her own blood loss. At once Ellen’s body began to spasm in front of the two, Alex looking on aphetically and Bruno in fear. "What did you do to her?!?!?"

It's cold and it's a broken Hallelujah

"She's changing," the blonde states watching body become still. Alex leans to Ellen's ear and whispers something, causing her to awaken. "She is now the thing that you destroy.” Ellen looks at her husband and hisses, showing two white fangs. "An undead vampire."

Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Alex got off of the bed and stood behind the trapped man. "What will you do when I set you free,” she started walking backwards, the handgun pointed at his restraints, “Let your wife live, or kill the creature in front of you? Or will you destroy the creature who did all of this? And I’m not talking about myself. Remember boy. ‘An eye for an eye’…" She shoots one bullet setting the confined man free. Bruno immediately gets up and founded his shotgun before he ran after the vampire through the house. She laughed opened the front door and closed it. Bruno opened the front door only to find…nothing. The streets of suburban neighbor are empty. He closed the door and returns to the bedroom, knowing he has to do one thing before the night is over. He entered his room to see his turned wife looking at him in confusion when he brings up the large gun. Finger on the trigger and tears in his eyes he tells her, "I love you."

Hallelujah, Hallelujah

A gun shot. An unholy scream. A tear that runs down his face brings Bruno back to the present. "So she dies tonight. I won't hurt you but if you get in my way." He turns back to return to his chair but suddenly drops to the floor as a large metal table flies past the window, over his body, and crashes into the ground. The vampire slayer gets to his feet and runs towards his weapon. He grabs the sword and turns to the intruder before smiling. “Well if it isn’t Alexandria Martin! Fancy meeting you here,” he exclaimed mockingly. Alex stood ten feet from the old man, a pissed expression on her face. She was dressed in a bloody medical coat and slacks as if she rushed out of some operation but when she looked closer she saw that the blood was actually Alex’s.

Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Jodi looked out the window and saw Alex. The only thing was that she didn’t want to see Alex. Did she really want to be saved by her, the same person who attacked and raped her? But then again would Bruno go back on his word? There was only one thing she did know. Her simple life was about to get complicated.

Hallelujah, Hallelujah

------------

- I like Rufus Wainwright.
- This originally was the first scene I wrote down. It was going to be a one shot but when the plot for MGD came up decided to use it.
- I decided this would be a song chapter after putting “Hallelujah” on repeat and listening to it 150+ times. I have no life. Though if you really, really, really think about this song does go with the chapter. I was torn between this song and Tamia’s “Stranger in My House.” So I decided to solve them like I solve all my decisions: Coin toss. Rufus won.
- I’m going to try and came up with faster updates since I know have virtually 3 days free. Tuesdays and Fridays I have class from 8 to 4:30. Wednesdays I have 2 but they’re so far apart. Chapter 7 is in my notebook and I’ll start typing it ASAP.
- There are 4 more chapters left but I’ll be starting on a totally new story.
- As usually please review. It tells me that people want more. The reason why this took so long to update wasn’t because I had no computer but because I only got 2 reviews. Contrast to the nine I got before that. Come people I know you read the story. Even if it is a one word review give it to me! That’ll make me go faster. Anyway I’m late for French. Later peoples..
-Yay Snow!!!!!
