Chapter 35- A Seer's Promise

Thanks to all for the reviews. Keeps me going, keeps me having something to write for... etc. etc. etc. Enough of that! Time for the next chapter!

Chapter 35

\"Should we believe him?\" John asked.

They all were in a sigle room at the inn. Returning to the town with the news that the threat of the demons was diverted, resulted in a huge celebration, proclaiming John, Jessica, and Aivon as heroes. They had only just managed to get away from the people\'s congradulations and invitations to a huge party that would be hosted in thier honor. Flattered as they were, they all knew they had other things to discuss before attending.

\"I\'m not sure John, but I don\'t see why he would lead us into a trap or anything... but what about you Aivon? You\'ve done what you had to do. Does this mean your going back to Sophia?\" Jessica wondered.

Aivon looked up into space in thought. \"No, not yet. You risked your lives to help me. I think I should stay with you, at least a bit longer. Besides, I want to see this through.\"

\"Thanks Aivon. So, should we go east then?\"

\"I think so John. At this point, we have little to no clues about your family. It would be wise to try and find new leads.\"

John pondered this and stood up. \"Alright, it\'s decided. Looks like we are off to find this seer!\"

Jessica stood up happily, and Aivon did too. They opened the door to find a crowd of people standing there waiting to see them. John quickly closed the door before they could force thier way in. \"Ok, not that way...\" They headed to the window and opened it, all three getting out and heading to the village gate. They seemed sad to have to leave them like that, but they knew they couldn\'t wait until the people\'s affection for thier deeds would lessen.

Hitting the road again, they headed east away from the path, through the field itself. Having been resupplied with food and other nesseccaries, they felt determined to get to the seer\'s and hopefully get a few answers. John held more energy then ever. After all, if all the answers he sought for this time had really been in this one place, it was really hard for Jessica or Aivon to be surprised.

A few days had past when they caught sight of what looked like a temple in the distance.

\"Hey! I think I see it! Jessica, is that it?\"

\"I think so... Lets go see!\"

\"Hold it!\" Aivon shouted and looked ahead. \"We have company...\"

And there, walking to them was the man in black. His pendant was hidden away again, but they knew instantly who it was, from the scarf and the cloak. His silver, moon shaped clasp that held his cloak together shone the light. John gripped his sword in case he had to fight. But the man showed no intention of fighting and held no weapons in his hand... which really didn\'t make him any less dangerous.

\"What do you want?\" John asked, his voice holding a little more malice then intended.

\"I\'m come to escort you to the seer. She is waiting for your arrivial.\"

With that, he turned and walked in the direction of the temple, leaving behind the three who were very confused. They looked to each other in hopes one of them could figure out why he was doing this, but decided to go along with it anyway and follow him. Trudging along, they four made thier way to the temple entrence. At first glance, it didn\'t appear very special. It loomed high up, about twenty feet high, with large oak doors. Pushing them open revealed a circular room, with six pillars formed in a circle around some sort of tile that held strange writing on it. The pillars too had writing, but John couldn\'t make heads or tails of it. He looked to Jessica, who he hoped could read what it said, but she looked just as confused.

\"Demonic Language... but it doesn\'t make any sense.\" Aivon said calmly.

\"Really? Why?\" John inquired.

\"It\'s only jibberish. This part... \'tyaes dvdaq\' is what the writing translates to, but it has no real meaning... it must have been encoded.\"

\"Correct\" the man said, facing them. \"Whoever built this temple, wrote a message here too. He, apparently, wrote his message backwards, encoded it, and wrote that encoded message in the demonic langauge. There are, appanently, several of this messages hidden around this land, although no one has been able to decode it for no one knows exactly HOW to. Though the seer has been trying.\"

The man in black lead on, past the encoded message and opened another door leading further in. The room was dim, as the only light came from lit torches. Standing in front of a pedstal was a woman with light green hair. She turned to face them. Wearing a special seemless robe, she looked to them all with clear blue eyes that reflected the clear ocean depths.

\"Welcome, John, Jessica and Aivon. I have been expecting you.\"

\"How do you know our names?\" John said bewildered.

The seer only laughed a little. \"I would be a poor seer indeed if I was expecting strangers. But now is not the time. We have much to discuss.\"

\"Yeah, an explaination would be helpful right about now.\" Aivon said.

\"Before that, I must tell you something John.\" The man in black said. \"Whatever the seer says, you are free to run if you want. You are free to choose to leave right now if you wish.\"

\"Why would I want to?\"

\"Sometimes, human hearts cannot bear the burdens placed upon them,\" he said vaguely.

\"We came for answers. We should at least hear what she has to say before deciding anything,\" Jessica responded.

\"Then to begin, my name is Kira, a seer that has lived in this land for many years.\"

\"And I...\" the man in black began, \"am Midas.\"

\"Midas... alright, that\'s a start. So tell us, why did you bring us here?\" Jessica asked.

\"All will be revealed to you... and when I am done, you must choose.\"

\"Choose? Choose what?\" Aivon said surprised.

Midas answered him. \"Choose... whether or not you wish to defy Fate.\"
