Capitulation
Is my pain any less vivid and true
Because I was not disillusioned like you?
Must i pretend I feel no confusion
Because my future is a foregone conclusion?
Am I less than your flesh and blood
For feeling more than I said I would?
If I do everything you ask and more
Will you ignore the rottenness at my core?
I am not unforgivable
I have not done the unthinkable
I am not that incredible
I am just not invincible
If you will listen I promise I will beg
Take my own self down a peg
On my knees I will supplicate
If only you would extricate
The implement of death between my ribs
Moisten my parched lips
I will even forgive...
