Are you Real?

“Do I look okay Mother?”

Serenity stepped out of her room and into stair way. Her mother had to gasp at the vision before her. There Sarai swore she must have been looking on the face of an angel.

“Serenity you look absolutely beautiful. I’m not just saying that so don’t even think it.”

“Really?”

" Yes..” Her mother stepped closer. “Come down and let me see you better.”

She wanted to see this vision of her daughter closer. Sarai had never seen her so happy. Serenity was practically glowing. The Silver and purple of the gown stood out beautifully against her features. The full length gown flowed behind as she stepped. She had her hair put into an up do type bun. Ringlet curls of white hung down to softly caress her cheeks and the crown rested towards the center of the bun. The purple gem stones and silvery white gold of the crown accented the white in her hair. Sarai watched her daughter walk down the stairs slowly. She was reminded of Cinderella. She than caught sight of the matching necklace around Serenity’s neck.

The delicate chain flowed down towards the hand set gem stone. The soft white of the gold rested comfortably between the cleavage of Serenity’s breasts. It added just that right touch of royal Heir to the gown and to Serenity her self. Even her shoes fit her perfectly. It was as if someone had hand tailored everything to her. It made Sarai start to cry. She felt a surge of happiness fill her just from seeing her daughter smile and seeing her dressed like this, well it had just become one of those rare happy emotional moments in her life.

“Mother. Please don’t cry.” Serenity turned slightly to look at her. The ruffle of material on the dress gently moved with her. “ I..” She didn’t know what to say exactly.

“Oh no honey. These are happy tears. You just look so beautiful and..and..” Sarai started to cry again. She had a small handkerchief and was wiping her tears away. She had yet to put her own dress on but even if she hadn’t gotten one , seeing Serenity like this was enough for her. “ And I’m just very happy to see you smiling. You’re ..lighting up the entire room with it.”

“Mother.” Serenity blushed a deep crimson. “You’re making me blush.”

“Are you real?”

Sarai whispered it as she brushed a hand up against Serenity’s reddened cheek. The girl took a quiet, quick breath and looked into her mothers eyes. She had never really done something like this before. Serenity had never gotten all dressed up. She hadn’t even went to a school dance before. Naturally she’d never seen her mother get THIS emotional over a happy feeling before. They had so few happy moments in their lives to speak of.

“I’m..Real.” Serenity whispered. Her gaze met with her mothers. “Y..you should go get ready too.”

“I will..” Sarai reluctantly pulled away.“just so you know. If no coach comes I am still the luckiest and happiest mother in the world for getting to see you like this.“

“Thank you.“ Serenity smiled. Her face softened so dramatically. The smile curved upwards and gently settled. “The coach will show . I have faith in it to show. We will be taken away to a birthday ball. I know it will be here.”

She held such faith. It was moving. Sarai gasped. Her right hand slid from Serenity’s cheek to over her own heart. She was so passionate about this. She was so full of life. Her daughter was a vibrant ray of sunshine in an otherwise gloomy world right now. It was inspired to see it, to hear it and to feel it. Serenity had reached into the very depths of her soul and filled their world with her light. Again her tears came. Sarai wiped them and nodded. She smiled and finally had to step away.

“I am going to get dressed now.” She bit her bottom lip. Sarai didn’t really want to leave her daughter right now though. “ I’m so proud of you baby girl..” She turned and quickly set off towards her own bedroom. If she didn’t go now than she was afraid she would never go. She would have been just as content however. Sarai wanted to remember seeing her daughter like that for all eternity.

“I..” Serenity let her cheek tilt too the side. A curl fell lose from the bun and down. The tip dangled just above her shoulder. Her mother was acting very strange. Than again, she had never really been in a situation to experience these types of moments with her mother. “ Mother?”

She didn’t know what to think or even feel right now. Serenity glanced up towards a mirror in the living room. She slowly stepped forward to look at her self.

“I look..” Serenity didn’t quite know how to describe her self. Se had never really done it before in a positive way. “ I ..look...” Pausing, she shook her head. Serenity had practically forgotten about the time. It took a while to get dressed as it was and than her mothers little display , well she had forgotten it was nearly time for the coach to arrive. “ how do I look?”

Her whispered were answered with the door creaking open. She hadn’t noticed the shadow that was present across the floor now. His silver eyes drank in her form. His armor was polished to the highest possibilities that it could be and his leather was crisply black with purple trimmings. His boots were folded at the knee and down. The emblem of a silver dragon , holding an angelic white haired girl shone brilliantly on the front of his chest plating. Tonight, he also wore a very elegant cloak of dark purple with silver edging. It hun from his armor and just past to the back of his knee caps.

His hair was white as new fallen snow and neatly tied back into a pony tail and lastly his crown of Platinum adorned the top of his head. The purple gems held with in it were also highly polished.

“I think you look like a dream..”

“Wha..”

That voice. Serenity’s heart skipped a beat. She knew that voice. She was scared to turn around all the sudden. What if this was all some kind of elaborate dream that her mind had come up with. What if she was still asleep! Serenity’s mind raced. What should she do?! Should she turn around? What if her world shattered around her like it had done so many times in her past dreams. She caught her breath. Serenity tried to calm her self. Yes, She had to turn around and see.

Her foot turned first and than her ankle. Soon the rest of her leg and her body joined it. Serenity’s eyes were closed. She prayed to any that would listen that he would be there when she opened her eyes. She would be devastated if her world crumbled again.

“Please..” she whispered. “Please..don’t be a dream..”

Serenity took several short, quick breaths. The man chuckled. His hands were placed behind his back and he was patiently waiting. He had been planning this reveal for along time now. He hoped she would not be too disappointed. Finally, her eyes opened. Serenity gasped loudly. Her eyes went wide with welcomed surprise. It was him! He didn’t fade. Her world didn’t shatter. Silvan Demetrious was standing at her front door.

At first she could think of nothing to say. Than She had a million questions that wanted to burst forward. Serenity opened her mouth to speak but nothing came. Her eyes roamed over his figure and rested at the long pointed tips of his ears. He WAS perfect. She gulped. She had to say something damn it! Serenity panted lightly. She forced her mind to stay focused and in this world. She refused to let her self feint again. Speak! Speak girl! Serenity choked a whisper out at first. Than she finally forced the only thing she could think of from her lips.

“A..are you real?”

“I am very real my sweet.” Silvan stepped forward. “May I?” He glanced to her left hand where the dance card .

“ T..this?” She held her hand up. Serenity took a quick intake if air when his hand grasped hers. “Its..a dance card.” She barely managed a whisper.

“I know and I would very much like the honor of placing my name down..on..oh..every space available.“

Her heart fluttered. Serenity didn’t care if this was an elaborate hoax of a dream or not now. He was holding her hand. He was filling in his name on every spot of the card. She was familiar with them from reading about proper days of the past. Ladies would wear dance cards and gentlemen would place their names down on given spaces. This would be the turn that they each took dancing with that lady for the evening. Silvan was claiming her for pretty much the whole night! Serenity certainly didn’t mind.

“Yeah.”

Serenity gazed at him very dreamily. Every part of her told her to just latch on and never let go. She tried to move but her body froze. She could have looked upon him forever. Silvan gently pulled her left hand up and brushed his lips just over the tops of her knuckles. Both were so enraptured with one another they failed to see Sarai come from her room and further failed to see her just standing there and watching them.

Her first thought? Who was this. Her second? Why was Serenity going weak at the knees. She didn’t blame her. He was very pleasant on the eyes but still! The fact remained that she didn’t know him. There was no doubt that he was the one who sent the dresses though. She peeked from the enamored couple to the open front door. A coach of pristine white waited outside. Six Pure White horses were hitched to its front and a driver sat in the seat above.

He was dressed in a royal blue and his hair was just as white as Silvan’s. He looked to be the same race as this Silvan was? Wait? Were they even real? Or was she getting caught up into one of her daughters fancy stories. Sarai shook her head of the many random thoughts forming. She had to take a deep breath and hold it for a second. If she knew someone would be there to catch her she would have feinted her self. She didn’t want to do that however. One, she was in a really expensive , beautiful dress and two it would hurt to crash into the floor behind her.

When she glanced back at Serenity and Silvan though, she found them in the still same position. His lips had not left the knuckles of Serenity’s hand. His hand was still grasping hers and their eyes had not once parted from one another.

“Uhh..Hi..” She finally spoke. Sarai waved a little. “Yeah..me..mom here..umm. Serenity?” She wanted to know who this was.

“Huh? Yeah..”

Serenity smiled still towards Silvan as she spoke. She didn’t really hear what her mother said or actually hear that it was her mother. She was far too lost in his eyes to notice anything else. Silvan finally pulled his lips from her hand, but he kept a gentle hold still. He didn’t seem to notice mom either. Sarai grunted and shook her head. Well THIS was a predicament wasn’t it. She would have to shake these two from their distracted state and get some official introductions and maybe a little bit of an explanation going it seemed.
