Waiting For You

Three months have passed, and Kai is not yet awake.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> It has been four months since the Council
attacked him, and Sapphire is worried.

“You shouldn’t worry about him. He’s the biggest blockhead ever known to walk the Earth.”

“But he’s my blockhead, and I want to know why it’s
taking so long!”

“The spell not only burned him, but it damaged things
internally as well. Those things take
time. Not to mention a lot of magic.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> He won’t have his magic back for two more
months.” Said the bird.

“Wait a minute,” began Sapphire, “do you think that’s what
he’s waiting for? The new year to begin
so he can get up and walk around without the Council breathing down his neck?”

“That could be. The
Council doesn’t know where he lives, and besides, they think he’s dead.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> If he starts walking around now, they’ll
come back. If he waits for the New
Year, they can’t do shit to him.”

“I knew it!
Kai, you’re a genius!”

“Kai says, ‘Don’t mention it’.”

Sapphire had the largest smile on her face.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> She went to Kai’s room, and saw him
breathing. He’d been this way for two
weeks, but Sapphire still smiled when she saw the gentle rise and fall of his
chest.

Bending down, Sapphire lightly kissed his warm lips.style="msocerucerun: yes"> When she looked up, she could have sworn she
saw his lips move.

“Now that I know what you’re waiting for, I’m gonna make
Christmas and New Years the best time of your life.”style="mso-spacerun: yes"> Thought Sapphire as she went to take a nap
on the couch.
