Strange Male

Updating like twice a week sucks.

Someone asked over on Partners why Mik was so judgemental of Muan, that was out of character or some such. But really. It's not. At the beginning Mik was really really judgemental. Any time he'd see a new bit of technology he would automatically assume that the military had sold it to the highest bidder, even if the highest bidder was their enemy or a drug lord. He assumed that the military was abusing powers, no matter how ... good the military's intentions were. And he still does that. With anything that deal with people. He's... xenophobic? Perhaps is the word, about his own species.

For those who only read Sequel? Wow. I didn't think it could stand on it's own. However if you're confused, it may be because you're reading the... "sequel" and the first one is called Partners. A lot of information and such on that one.

If you still have questions you can email me, like a few have done, or you can head over to ayatostales.net and join the forum and post your questions there. Joinings obviously free and you don't get added to any kind of list or whathaveyou. Just makes it so you can post on the forum.

Hopefully I update more than twice this week. But... can't guarantee.

Read, Review and Enjoy.

Paw’s excited chatter changed to him running around and as the group headed towards Rel and the Elder’s area, Rel panicked. What was happening, he wondered, what was going on? He spent so much time that he totally missed the first half of the conversation. When he finally did clue in…

Taln was holding papers and Mik had this look on his face. The tall male right behind and to the side of Mik had an entirely different look. Satisfied, perhaps?

“Uhm…” Rel pointed to the papers, then looked at the tall, dark haired, dark eyed Sidhe, “did you just choose your leader via lottery? Random selection?”

“…yes…” the male responded slowly.

“How does that guarantee a safe leadership? What would you do if he turned out to be the wrong decision? What if he drives your … tribe… into the ground? Then what?”

“Then we eat him,” The male murmured, looking Rel up and down, “the choice was between these two here. Thus, not a real lottery.”

“I was here, I could have taken the papers and then where would you be?” Rel snapped, “all like… not knowing. Or. Something.”

“You?” The eyes moved down him and back up, an approving sort of look coming across the male’s face as the lip turned up just slightly. The male wasn’t summing up Rel’s capability, Rel realised, the male found him attractive.

Rel took a step back.

“Easy,” Taln said to Rel, “insulting a Sidhe is a declaration of challenge. Just stand your ground.”

“Don’t let him push you around,” Koln murmured, “he pushes everyone around.”

It wasn’t that Rel was afraid of this male. It was the look on Muan’s face as the male had looked Rel up and down. A lethal look mixed with possessive jealousy. Muan stepped up behind the big male and tapped him on the shoulder. The male turned. Right into Muan’s oncoming fist. The male stumbled, hand moving to his jaw, shock playing over his features for a moment.

The two were almost of a height. Muan was thicker in the chest, longer limbed. The male had more muscle on him.

“Souse, now wait just a-” Mik tried to step between the two of them, holding his hands up as if to stop Souse, the tall male. The male flicked Mik out of the way and launched himself onto Muan. The two struggled for a moment, before Muan turned himself and dragged Souse around, dropping the other Sidhe to the floor.

“Oh my gods,” Rel said, looking around for the people with the tranq gun, the tazer. Something to stop the Sidhe from trying to kill themselves. No one moved, most of the people actually looked around, finding the walls and ceiling very interesting all of a sudden.

Muan and Souse rolled across the floor and into a group of Sidhe and people. The people scattered. The Sidhe glared down at the two males and even kicked at Souse when the male happened to kick out in their direction. The two males snapped at one another, teeth gnashing out and barely missing shoulder and neck.

Muan rolled over top of Souse, pulling the other Sidhe into a headlock, putting pressure on the male’s windpipe.

“Stop,” Taln said.

“Neh?” Muan loosened his hold on Souse and looked at Taln.

“Zahaat,” Paw said quickly.

“Auh,” Muan dropped Souse immediately and moved away from the male.

Souse growled from the floor. Muan spun and kicked at Souse, catching the fallen male with the tip of his shoe.

“Enough, I said,” Taln snapped.

Souse groaned and curled into a ball, “I can take him.”

“Obviously not, he just…” Taln frowned and looked around the room, “took Souse and won.”

“Is… Souse strong or something?” Rel asked Taln.

“He was the old leader. And yeah. He was strong, pretty strong.”

“Hohi,” Koln called out. Hohi moved through the crowd and looked at Koln, as if asking what he wanted, Koln motioned to Muan, “go play with Muan.”

Hohi flashed a toothy grin and pounced over. Over. The group of people. He landed beside Muan and glanced over at Paw, babbling something in Sidhe. Muan blinked at Hohi and then at Paw. There was a moment where something passed between the two of them. Then Muan poked Hohi in the shoulder and made a ‘come on’ motion.

“Uhm…”

“It’s fine,” Taln murmured, “play is a show of strength, a testing of the two physical bodies. Sometimes Sidhe get aggressive and need to get it out of their systems and they… play or some such until it’s out of their system.”

“It’s not playing,” Mik growled in an annoyed tone. The tone of a man who had experienced ‘playing’ before, “it’s wrestling that can very easily get out of hand. Very easily. It goes on until one or both are exhausted and is how younger or un… positioned… males learn their places.”

Muan whacked Hohi onto the floor and placed his foot in the middle of the taller male’s chest. The Sidhe grinned and looked at Rel. It was the sort of look of someone who had just brought home a big, ugly toad and thought it was the best thing ever. Rel smiled back at him.

“And now that’s his as well,” Mik muttered under his breath.

“What?”

“Muan. He claims everything. This is his, that is his. Omgosh that sparkles! That’s his too. Like a fucking cat.”

Paw blinked at Mik, then looked at Rel and to Muan. Muan’s grin grew larger.

“Like cat,” Paw murmured, “odd. As he dog. Lillow does too. Claims all around self. Way defensive work. Claim and claim and claim and anything that hurts claimed things get hurt,” the Sidhe shrugged, then looked at Rel, “Mik used to thinking bad on people things and Muan people made thing, people forged soul and altered body and so. Mik judge Muan on it. Not to be taken to heart.”

Mik looked furiously angry. Rel guessed that Paw was about to be in trouble.

Muan helped Hohi to his feet. Smiling a small smile at the taller male as he bowed his head to the side. A giving over a dominance to the larger male, despite the fact that Muan was stronger. Hohi let out a sound that might have been a huff, an acceptance in a ‘I don’t care’ type of tone. Hohi turned his back on Muan and trotted to Paw. He began a long rant in Sidhe, to which Paw nodded at every turn.

Rel looked about, wondering how everyone else had reacted. His eyes stopped on Mik. The man was frowning at him. Rel blinked and looked away, then back, wondering if Mik was still looking at him. Mik stepped around Paw and pinned Rel with a look.

“You didn’t react to Hohi like he was a strange male.”

“And?”

“How do you know Hohi?”

“Who said I knew him? He was playing,” Rel growled back.

“Has Hohi been visiting you up there?” Mik pointed upward, “has he been the one climbing the side of the building?”

“Mik. Do me a favour,” Rel said calmly. He couldn’t have anything to do with Mik. If he did he would be drawn to the man and that would cause nothing but issues, “go fuck yourself.”
