Start of Something Good
Chapter 5
“Guy’s like Alex were built for women like Jessica, or Lucy for that matter. Telling him you have a crush on him will only gross him out and make him dislike you even more. So if I was you, I’d keep you’re crush on him to yourself. It’s not worth it.” Jade never knew why Rachael hated him. Alex never really paid any attention to Rachael in high school, so she couldn’t understand her automatic hatred. It was Jessica that really that put all her attention on Rachael. So what’s her deal, Jade thought? Alex was in his bedroom, lying on his bed reading a book. He wondered where Jessica was, he figured she’d be back from work by now. So what was taking her? He put down his book and decided to call her. He dialed her number and it started ringing. “Hello?” she said. “Jess? Where are you? I thought you’d be home by now.” Alex said nonchalantly. He heard a voice in the background…a male voice. “I’m sorry baby. But I have to work late again. I’m sorry, I promise I’ll make it up to you.” Jessica said softly. Alex snorted. “You know…don’t even bother. You do this all the time and say the same thing. And every time you break your promise. You said you would cut your hours down, but I can see that won’t be happening any time soon.” Alex said in a cold voice. “What am I suppose to do? I’m trying my best here, it’s a competitive job and there are hundreds of women who’d kill to take my place. How am I supposed to make it big as a model if I’m spending more time with you? You know it’s my dream to be a famous model! I thought we talked about this already.” She said, sighing. Alex growled. “You know what? Forget it; it’s obvious what’s more important to you and it’s definitely not me.” Alex said, irritated. “Ale…” she started to say, but Alex hung up on her before she could continue to talk. Alex should have known she wasn’t coming back tonight. He didn’t seem as pissed as should have been. But then, over the years, Jessica’s gotten quite predictable. Yep, he was sure he wanted to end this marriage. He decided to get some clothes on to go and see Jade. He still couldn’t stop thinking about her. The sex they been having has been so far fucking mind blowing. He’s had feelings for Jade since high school, and not once they’ve diminished. Just as soon as she walked through his doors at the reunion, he knew he was fucked. He knew when he saw her, everyone and everything else didn’t matter. He was more focused on doing what he should have done in high school. Capture her heart and fall madly in love with her. He could just picture them both a few years from now married with children. He smiled. Suddenly the doorbell rang. Alex goes to the door and opens it. Lucy White was at the door with a tape in her hand. She appeared to have been crying, because her eyes were red and puffy. Alex took her hand and gently pulled her inside. “Lucy, what are you doing here? Are you alright” Alex asked, concerned. Alex has always known she had a thing for him…but it was for the wrong reason. He didn’t really feel the same way about her, so he kept they’re relationship platonic. Jessica and Lucy are best friends. They had a nasty fight junior year in high school, because Lucy was constantly flirting with Alex, she also tried to steal her place as queen bee when Jessica broke her leg. Just then, about 2 years ago they made up, but Lucy never stopped flirting with Alex. “Where is Jessica? Where is that back-stabbing whore?!” She yelled angrily. “OK, calm down. What exactly is this about?” Alex replied. Lucy started sobbing and sunk to the floor. Alex picked her up and carried her to the living room. He placed her on the couch and knelt in front of her. “Please forgive me for coming here so late but this is very important.” Lucy said sounding upset. Alex could tell it was serious news. Lucy took a DVD out of her purse and handed it to Alex. “You should see this.” she said with watery eyes. Alex turned on the TV and put the DVD into the DVD player. It started to play and it showed Jessica naked on top of a guy in an office. Alex eyes grew wide. “Who the hell is that guy?” Alex asked sounding pissed. “My husband, Henry. She also works for him in modeling.” Lucy replied, sobbing harder. “How long has this been going on?” Alex asked. “Two years after you got married.” She replied, hiccuping. “All this time she’s been cheating?! Why the fuck would she marry me if she didn’t want me?!” Alex said angrily, raising his voice. He quickly got up from the couch pacing back and forth. The DVD stopped playing. He stopped and picked up a vase and threw it against the wall. He paced back and forth again, and punches his hand through the wall making a hole. This whole time he was wasting his energy on woman who didn’t really care about him, and was sleeping with Lucy’s husband…her best friend. How could she do this to her? How could she do this to him? He felt sick to his stomach. He sat beside Lucy and stared into space. Lucy scooted closer to Alex and cuddled up to him. She started kissing his face and grabbed his cock. Alex pushed her off and moved away from her. “Lucy, what the hell are you doing?” Alex shouted. Lucy stood in front of Alex, smiling. “Come on, you can’t tell me, you don’t want this after all she’s done? We would be awesome together.” Lucy said. “Lucy I’ve told you already we should just be friends. I’ve never felt that way about you.” Alex replied. “I’m so sorry Alex….I…just thought you had a right know; you being her husband, loyal and faithful. It’s not right how she treats you. You need to get rid of her.” Lucy said. He looked at Lucy and Lucy looked at him. “Please leave….I need to be left alone.” he said looking away from Lucy. Lucy quickly leaves and closes the door behind her. Alex sits back on the couch running his hand through his hair. He got up and left the mansion. He decided he needed to see Jade. He missed her and this whole thing with Jessica left him emotionally drained. He needed someone to help him forget. He decided to drive to her hotel himself to think and gave Sheldon the night off. When he arrived at the hotel, he noticed Rachael in the lobby, sulking. He wanted to ask her what was wrong, but decided against it. Instead he went straight to the elevators to Jade’s room. He knocked on the door and waited. The door opened and he smiled…or grimaced. He stood there looking at Jade with a strange look on his face. He looked as if he wanted to puke. He sighed. “Can I come in? There’s something I want to talk to you about.” He said sadly. Jade stared at him and then nodded her head. “Alex you OK? You look like someone just kicked you’re puppy.” Jade asked softly. “No, I’m not OK. I just found out that for 2 years my wife has been cheating on me with Lucy’s husband.” “You mean Lucy white, her best friend? She’s been having an affair with her best friend’s husband?” Alex nodded. “Damn, that’s pretty low. I thought they were friends?” Jade said. “I don’t know what’s been going on with her lately. She’s been distant and spending more time away from home…and now I know why. I can’t believe her; I wasted all my time and energy on a woman who didn’t really care about me. This whole time I could have been married to you with children by now and…happy.” He said looking down. Jade stiffened. Did he just say what I think he just said, Jade thought. She never knew Alex thought about her that way. She felt touch and just couldn’t help the grin she plastered on her face. Alex looked back at Jade and grinned. “I wanna hold you for a while. Come here.” He said softly. He carried Jade bridal style over to the bed and laid them both down. He lay on his side and pulled Jade into his arms, kissing the back of her neck. He sighed. He never felt this way before; he could hold her all night and be just as happy as can be. This feels normal…this feels right, Alex thought. This is the beginning of something good.
