Chapter 4: Elliot run fast!: Elijah and accomplice
2 years later...
Elliot tossed his bag over his shoulder and trailed behind his other pack mates. His eyes seemed distant almost gone completely as he walked. The snow had just began to fall, the thin white powder leaving a coat on everything in it's path. Elliot shook his hair to free it from the cold flakes.
"You okay Elly?" asked one of his pack mates slowing down to talk with him.
"Oh I'm fine. Just thinking really," he said feigning a smile. She patted his shoulder and walked ahead.
Elliot had been feeling especially under the weather lately and couldn't shake the feeling. He had even let his blond hair grow past his shoulders which is something that he usually hated to do although most pack leaders didnt allow pack members to cut their hair. He pushed back his long blond ponytail and ran his fingers along the small bite marks on his neck. He then looked to the sky as of hoping for some foreign entity to swoop down and take him away. He sighed and let himself trail behind, but he knew that eventually his pack chief would detect his presence slowly fading and come running.
Elliot looked around briefly before realizing that he was holding his pack mates jacket. He threw it over his head to mask his own scent and trailed away from the rest of the pack. It was a long shot, but he was ready to take a chance for once. He was ready to get away from the norm.
Elliot walked and walked and as he did, he felt more and more free. Eventually he started to jog and then run as fast as his legs could carry him.
"I'm free!" he shouted, arms flailing in the slight breeze. He enjoyed the feel of his hair blowing in the wind. He loved the feeling of running, running faster and faster until he couldn't feel his legs and he kept going. He ran through the forest nearly blinded by the now thickly falling snow, but kept going and didnt look back. He never wanted to look back.
.....
Elliot looked around, his eyes moving in every direction. He turned suddenly thinking he heard footsteps but there was nothing. Only his own shadow followed him through the forest and the sound of his paws against the snow. He stalked forward slowly, eyeing the trees and the dark areas.
Suddenly there was a crash from above and before Elijah could defend himself he was being straddled by another wolf.
"Elijah your so bad at this," said True laughing. Elijah got up from the ground and went human.
"How did you do that? I couldn't even detect your scent!" said Elijah. He kicked up snow from the ground in frustration.
"Hey it's cool. You just need more practice." said True patting his head. Elijah pushed his hand away playfully.
"That was so fun!" shouted Simon jumping down from the tree top. "I found Monroe and Carla in like 5 minutes. I found Elijah too, but I figured I'd let you infiltrate that bomb factory."
"Oh fuck you!" said Elijah smiling. He and his mates headed back to the den. When they returned, Stephen was waiting.
"You won't believe what happened!" said Simon enthusiastically. When she realized his anger, she backed away.
"All of you inside now." he said bordering on furious. Everyone hurried inside and took their positions on the floor. Stephen circled them at first unsure of what to say due to the level of his wrath.
"I got report that two of my pack members were seen in the city."
Everyone looked at each other with puzzled looks.
"Not only were these two not allowed in the city, but were also caught stealing. I didn't raise my pack to commit indecent crimes. Petty crimes!" said Stephen growing angrier by the moment. He took out his short whip and swung it in the air.
"I want to know who the two are and I want to know now."
Everyone looked at each other silently. No one was willing to rat out the perpetrators, but no one wanted to be whipped either.
"If none of you wants to step up, then all of you will be whipped."
Everyone took in a breath of air at the same time. They knew what it was like to be on the other end of Stephan's whip and didn't particularly want to relive those memories.
"Everyone get up and get against the wall now-"
"Wait it was me chief." said Simon under her breath. Everyone turned to look at her surprised.
"Up against the wall." Stephan said to Simon. "Who was with her?"
"It was me too chief." said True getting up. Elijah turned to him stunned. Stephan even cocked an eyebrow at his confession.
"True if you are lying..."
"No it was me! True I'd be a terrible brother if I let you take the fall for me..." Elijah cut in. Stephan slapped True hard enough to put him through a wall and he fell back, eyes sparkling with tears that had yet to fall.
"Forgive me chief..." said True looking down.
"Elijah, up against the wall. True make your way back to my room. Were going to discuss some things."
The fear in True's eyes was apparent, more so than Elijah had ever seen before. He turned back to face the wall.
"Elijah I'm scared...chief hasn't been this mad since- "
"I know..." said Elijah grabbing Simon's hand.
"Simon and Elijah, you have have broken my trust and betrayed me as you chief, your father...your lover. You will recieve 5 strikes each. You cry, I strike more." said Stephen readying his whip. Elijah grasped Simon's hand tighter.
"Simon I love you, your are my child, and it truly hurts me to do this, but we do what we must," said Stephan kissing the back of her head. He stood back.
Simon shuttered with the first strike. Second strike she gasped and turned to defend herself.
"Simon no just take it!" said Elijah persuading her to not postpone her beating even further.
"I can't!" cried Simon, but Stephan had already been disrespected for the day. He pushed Simon up against the wall, pinned both her hands above her head and continued the beating without further a due until she a screaming crying mess on the floor. He went to strike her again.
"Please chief no! It was all my idea! Simon said she had never been to the city before and I told her I'd take her! I didnt have any money so..."
"So you stole." said Stephan finishing.
"Simon, go and lay on your stomach hands underneath your chest. Elijah, turn around."
Elijah remembered his last beating years ago and it sent shivers down his spine just thinking about it.
Stephan leaned down to whisper in Elijah's ear.
"Don't ever do this to me again." said Stephan. He kissed the back of Elijah's head and began promptly pulling back, and then forward letting the cool leather of the whip grace Elijah's back.
Elijah thought back to when he and his brother went into the city and stole bread and milk and sometimes candy if Elliot let him. They stole for necessity, not because they were criminals. They stole because their parents were no longer alive and no one was willing to take care of wayward wolves.
A tear escaped Elijah's eye. He hadn't thought about his brother in years and he never wanted to. He just wanted to forget.
Elijah burst into tears.
Stephen held the whip and was ready to strike but sensed Elijah's anguish. He knelt down and grabbed hold of him to comfort him and they sat there for minutes.
"Are you ready to finish?" said Stephan sternly after having been so sensitive with Elijah.
"Yes..." Elijah said wiping his tears. He got into position.
