Marcus Knows
Author Notes: IMPORTANT!!! Since I got reviews about this, this story will be a rape story involving a fifteen year old. I already put warnings at the title that said N/C and shouta. If you don't like it, stop reading here. It's not my problem if you don't heed to my warnings. That being said, I hope you like this chapter.
REVIEW REPLIES
Divanora: Thanks for the review. I will be editing it after November to add contractions everywhere. Every word counts though, especially when the nanowrimo word calculator cuts off more than 50 of my words. NO FAIR!! : )
Bambi4real: James doesn’t have that many friends, so he didn’t spend too much time with hormonal teenage boys. I was really sheltered too. I didn’t really understand that kind of stuff until I went to college, so I can relate to James. James will be raped. I have been planning this story since the beginning of October. I am not great in writing any kind of sex scene, so I’m not sure how graphic I will actually make it. If you don’t want to read rape, I suggest you stop here. There will be a happy ending though. James will find love with someone who cherishes him. James doesn’t see it before it happened because he doesn’t know how to use his powers yet. As for the doctor, to have visions about someone, you need to actually focus on that person. Visions don’t come just because the person is in danger. The seer ability will come into effect though, and play a part in saving James. I don’t want to give too much away though. If you continue to read, that’s wonderful. If you don’t, I will understand.
Antaris: I’m warning you that it will be a serious angst fest. I will go a little bit into his kidnapping. I might not be too graphic. The seer abilities will take a part in saving James, but I don’t want to give too much away. A lot of the story will be on the aftermath as well, but the reader will need to see what James goes through to understand. I’m not exactly sure what I’m going to do yet. If you don’t want to read a rape story, I suggest you stop here. By the way, I think chapter 6 would be the one to give serious thought to, not this chapter. : )
Lisa: Hope you keep reading. : )
Vestri Somnium: I wasn’t sure how graphic I was going to make it because other reviewers don’t seem to like rape stories. I guess some readers don’t mind that victim is only 15. I’m glad you like the story. Please keep reading. : )
At the hospital, Marcus was having a seizure, but the doctors could not figure out what was wrong with him. A seizure is not a symptom of kidney cancer. Marcus was still in a deep sleep due to medicine.
Doctor Rendell was with him, but he knew it was not anything physical. He was in there because he had a hunch that the problem was paranormal. He closed his eyes and focused his inner seer on the writhing body on the bed. He sent feelings of calm to the young man. Marcus calmed down, much to the confusion of the other doctors.
Doctor Rendell was breathing deeply. It took more power than usual to calm another person down. Now, it was time to figure out what had caused that reaction. There was only one person who could have, Marcus' little brother. James had come in a little earlier and told Marcus he was going home to do some homework. There had to be something that happened on the way home.
This is where being a seer came in handy. He focused everything he had on the younger boy. He did not know James that well so it would be harder for him. Even if Marcus was not a seer, he could probably get a clearer image on the younger boy due to their close relationship. Unfortunately, James had not wanted to tell Marcus just yet about what he was, and he wanted to respect James' wishes. If worse came to worse, than he would have to, but it would be the last choice type of thing.
He was able to focus on the boy, but it was a blurry image. He saw James unconscious. Everything around him was dark. He could not tell where James was, or if he was with anyone at all. Could he be in an alley way unconscious? It was obvious he was not beaten up. Maybe he was not anywhere dark at all. The darkness could be just because he did not know the younger boy too well, so he could not get a location.
He let go of his power. He was starting to get a bit frantic, which would make it harder for him to pin James' location. He left Marcus' room and went to his private office. He has been at that hospital for over ten years, and everyone working there over ten years got their own office. It definitely came in handy during times like these. He sat down in the yoga position and began to mediate. His inner seer came out in the form of self.
"Hello Danny." Self spoke in an amused voice.
'Danny' rolled his eyes. "This is not time for amusement. Something is wrong with James Devaul and I cannot figure out where he is. I need your help."
Self laughed. "If you cannot figure out where he is, I will not be able to either. I am an extension of you."
Dr. Randell was breathing deeply to try to stay calm. "Please, when I can hone in on you, there is more power. I need your help. He could be in severe danger right now. HELP ME!!"
Self smirked. "Calm down Danny. There is no need to yell." Self closed his eyes and focused. He could see James unconscious as well. He could see the dark space that Dr. Rendell saw too. There was something else he could make out, a steering wheel, a couple feet from James.
When self told Dr. Rendell, he got so upset that it took all of his will power to keep self with him. "Does this mean he was kidnapped?"
Self rolled his eyes. "Look at the facts. The boy is unconscious and there is a steering wheel. Of course he has been taken. Sometimes I wonder how you became a doctor."
At the moment, Dr. Rendell wished that Self was an actual person, so he could strangle it. "Do not be so sarcastic. An innocent boy is in danger. Could you not see where he was being taken?"
Self tried his hardest not to roll its eyes. "I doubt the boy knows where he is going and I could not see who had taken James. There is no way to know where he is being taken."
Dr. Rendell looked heartbroken. "So what do I do? Should I tell Marcus?"
Self nodded. "By the reaction Marcus had, I have a feeling he was having dreams about it. He probably will not think they are true, but he knows on some level. Anyway, if anyone has a right to know, it is Marcus. He may be able to help find him as well, even without being a seer."
Dr. Rendell shook his head. "Marcus does not know about James being a seer though. It should be James who can tell Marcus the truth."
Self crossed his arms, as if he was about to have a temper tantrum. "Wake up Danny. If Marcus is not told the truth, James may not live to tell him. Who knows what his kidnapper has in store for him. Tell him as soon as he wakes up."
Dr. Rendell nodded. He knew Self was right. He broke his mediation, allowing Self to disappear back into his mind. He stood up and stretch, feeling and hearing his knees crack. He was getting too old for that position.
He left his office and went to check on Marcus who was still sleeping, this time peacefully. If one would look close enough though, they could see the furrow in the brows which betrayed his worry.
Dr. Rendell left the room and did his rounds of his other patients. He had some mishaps, but all in all, they were okay.
Then he had a late lunch at the cafeteria. He really had to start bring his lunches again. The cafeteria food was so bad for you.
By the time he was finished with lunch, Marcus was awake and alert. Dr. Rendell swallowed, while standing outside of the door. This was not going to be easy.
As soon as he walked into the room, Marcus spoke up rather quietly. "Something is wrong with James. I can feel it deep inside of me." Marcus was shocked. He did not think Marcus would take the dreams too seriously. Maybe this would be easier than he thought.
Marcus sat down. "You are right. Your little brother is in serious trouble and you may have the power to save him.”
Marcus looked at the doctor. “How? I will do anything humanely possible to make sure he is safe.”
What would be the easiest way to tell Marcus? “Have you ever enjoyed reading fantasy books?”
Marcus looked at the doctor incredulously. “I do not think this is the time for that kind of talk.”
Dr. Rendell sat on the chair that was usually occupied by James. “Trust me, it is the time. Just go with me.”
“Fine, I will go with you. Yeah, I use to read those kinds of books when I was in elementary and middle school. Why?”
Dr. Rendell was breathing deeply. “Have you ever read books about psychics or clairvoyants?”
Marcus made a look. “I do not fricken remember. What does that have to do with anything?”
Dr. Rendell made a look at Marcus. “Find, do not heed my advice and be patient. Let’s see how you can handle this news. Your little brother, he is a seer.”
There was silence, and then Marcus lost it. “What kind of joke is this?”
Dr. Rendell shook his head. “I can assure you. This is not a joke. Your brother is a seer. I know this because I am a seer too. Before you ask, he is not simply a psychic. He is more powerful than a normal psychic. You knew he was in trouble because he is in serious distress. Since you two are so close, you can sense it … and you may be able to see it as well.”
Marcus was looking at his hands. “If you are supposedly a ‘seer’ – like I really believe that – why can YOU not find him?”
Dr. Rendell smiled at Marcus. “You better start believing me. I am the only who can help you find him. Anyways, back to your question. The reason why I cannot find him is because although I have become extremely fond of him in a very short period of time, I have not known him that long and cannot be considered close to him. The two of you are very close. That’s why you had the dream. Speaking of which, what was the dream about. It may help lead us to James’ whereabouts.”
Marcus was looking at Dr. Rendell as if he was insane. He decided he might as well believe the doctor. If the doctor could find James, he would go along with it. “It was not really a dream, more like a serious of images. The only coherent thing that I could make out was that James was in serious danger of losing his innocence.”
Dr. Rendell looked shocked. “When you see innocence, you mean …?”
Marcus nodded. “If he is not found, he will lose it in the most awful way. What are the chances of us finding him before that happens?”
Dr. Rendell looked at Marcus with sad eyes and decided that honesty was the best policy. “Marcus, I hate to say this. Depending on whoever took Marcus, the chances are not that high that he will still be innocent. I am sorry. We can save him before he loses his life though. I need you to believe in me though, and do what I say. I know you still do not believe the seer stuff, but it is true.”
“Why would he not tell me himself than?”
Dr. Rendell looked deep in Marcus’ eyes. “He just found out himself yesterday. He has a mark in the shape of an eye. Have you ever seen it?”
Marcus thought about it. “I use to give him his baths when he was little. It was on one of his thighs, right?”
Dr. Rendell nodded. “That is right. That is the symbol of the seer. All seers have that mark somewhere on their body. I have it on my back, right by my shoulder blade. He actually saw yesterday when my white coat was off. He got to questioning me and that is how he discovered who he was.”
Marcus looked at the doctor, finally starting to believe him. “That is all good and well, but that does not explain why he would not tell me himself yesterday or this morning. He has always told me everything.”
“He was not ready to tell you yet. He probably thought you would think he was nuts and needed to have a hospital stay himself?”
Marcus shot the doctor a look. “I probably would have believed Jamie a lot faster than I believed you.”
Dr. Rendell nodded. “I know. I am only telling you because it might be the only way to save your little brother.”
Marcus was breathing deeply. “What do I do?”
Dr. Rendell nodded approvingly. “All you have to do is focus on the connection you have your brother. If you are focusing as hard as possible, you should be able to make out more detail than I can.”
Marcus did as he was told. When Marcus saw James, he was no longer in the dark space of a car, but a spacious room that had 2 rows of beds, 8 beds in each row. James was still unconscious on the bed closest to the door. There were others there, who looked to be around the same age of James, give or take a year or two. One of the boys in particular, who seemed to be about one or two years older, was staring down at James in concern. Out of instinct, Marcus knew he was not the kidnapper, but in the same situation as his little brother was in.
Marcus came out of it and looked towards the good doctor. “There were many kids there about my brother’s age. I did not see anyone who could have been the kidnapper though. All I saw was a big room with teenagers and beds.”
Dr. Rendell nodded. “It sounds like some sort of human trafficking deal. All of those other teenagers have probably been taken from their families as well. Who knows how long they have been kept.”
“Dr. Rendell, we need to find my brother and soon.”
