Chapter 4 So called friends Be careful

Chapter 4
So called friends Be careful

I woke that next morning to my phone ringing. I shook my head and murmuring unknown words as I picked it up.

“Yes.”

“Kate wants you to come over now.”

It was Mindy voice. I knew she wouldn’t hold anything against that evil girl; she was too sweet for that. I still could not believe that Kate had did that to her and

Stephenie didn’t do anything about it. Then again Kate was always evil and Stephenie never even stood up for herself.

And who was I to talk. I didn’t really do anything as well.

I turn and looked at my clock. It was twelve that was about the right time for me to wake up.

“I’ll be there in a minute.”

“Minnie she wants you over here right now.” Mindy voice was soft as if trying to tell me not to get in trouble with Kate.

“I’m coming.”

“Okay.” I could hear the happiness in her voice.

Out of the four of us, I and Mindy were the closest. I could talk to her and know she wouldn’t go and tell anyone about it.

I’m not even sure how it came to be that we grew closer. It was almost as if it just happened and maybe that’s why Kate is meaner to the both of us.

Kate was selfish. She always wanted to be first in everyone hearts.

I walked down the stairs and saw that mom was sitting right by my step father, Amanda in fount of them watching her cartoons my little was brother nowhere in sight.

“Mom can I borrow the car?”

“Sweetie it’s your car now.”

I smiled at her. “Really mom, I can have it?”

“I was trying to surprise you about the car and now I have ruined it.” She laughed. “Well anyway you can drive yourself to school and everyone will say how your car looks so nice.” My mother said walking to me handing me the keys.

“Yes if you don’t like it, while I’ll get you another one. You know what if you do like it I will still buy you another one. You need two cars.” My step father said staring at me.

“Thank you.”

“Minnie did you hear me?”

I shook my head and looked at my mom frowning. “No, I didn’t hear you. What did you say?”

Even though I didn’t hear what she said. I knew it was no on the car. I honestly had no idea why she had me get a driver license if she never wanted me to use it.

She looked up at me her dark green eyes looking as if she couldn’t believe I hadn’t heard her.

“No, you know I don’t like you using our only form of transpiration.” She said moving her brown hair from her eyes. “That’s all we have baby.”

I rolled my eyes. “Then can you at least give me….”

“Let her take it.” My step father said getting the keys from his pocket.

Wow I was just going to ask for some bus money, but if he wanted to help.

“She has a license and needs to use it.” He said smiling at me. “I trust her.” He put his hand out holding the keys and I frowned but still took them.

“Ok well it’s your car.” My mom said to him and then looked at me. “Be careful and you know your curfew.”

I smiled. “Don’t worry I should be back before then. Bye.”

“Bye-bye.” Amanda said still looking at the TV.

I bet she didn’t even know who she was saying bye to, it was just a normal reaction for her to always say bye-bye to anyone who said bye.

I almost ran out the door knowing that there is still a chance for the real world to come back and for them to say that it was only a joke that I couldn’t drive the car.

As I walked out of the door and saw that my brother was outside playing with our dog Maxie. I smiled at him holding the keys out in front of his face. His eyes looked over the keys in my hand and his face went from happy to angry.

“I’m telling dad.” He said. I hated it when he called our step father that. Every time he called him that I couldn’t help but think, he’s not our Dad!

Our dad my never had been in our life, because of that new wife of his but I didn’t care. I still refused to call that man dad.

I honesty blamed that woman for the reason my dad wasn’t in my life. She wouldn’t even let him see my two older brothers-Who I and my little brother hadn’t seen in years-It was all of her fought that I didn’t see him, but it was my pride that kept me from crying at night.

In my heart I knew my father should want to be with me and my brothers, but he wasn’t and it was his fought not hers, but again it was my pride that keep me from even admitting that little factor.

At times I wished or rather hoped that my father would die or something, then I would at least get some of his money and that would be the nicest thing he had every done for me.

If he died then I wouldn’t have to ever wonder if he would come back and say he was sorry. That he wanted to be in me and my brother life. If he died I wouldn’t have to know that he was with some woman telling her he loved her and being there for her, something he had never done for me or my brother.

If he died she would be just like me, alone without anyone.

She had told him not to be around me, she was the one who made him hate me and not won’t to be my father.

“Well Henry was the one who said I could use it.” I laughed pushing my thoughts from my mind.

My brother face looked as if he didn’t believe me.

“Dad!” He yelled as he ran inside the house.

I laughed as I walked to the car getting ready to leave. He would be mad once he found out it was true because he had been trying to get Henry to let him use the car, but hey

I could not help it that he didn’t have his full license.

As I drove to Kate’s house that was in the deep part of East Lansing, the nicer part I smiled at finally being able to drive the car.

A stop sign came up and I stopped looked both ways and just as I was about to pull off I saw him the weird boy with the beautiful eyes.

I watched him. He was on his bike right in a parking lot eyeing me with this evil smile on his face. He looked as if he was trying to tell me something. I eyed him confused; then heard the hunk of a car horn. I turned around and saw that it was a car behind me.

I begun to drive off, but not before I looked to see if he was still there, but he wasn’t.

How was he able to leave so fast without me evening hearing him go?

Shaking the thought from my mind and continued to drive to Kate house. It was nice being alone in the car. I was able to think about stuff. Like what I was going to say to her.

I didn’t know what I could say or how I was going to say it, but I had to stand up to her. I had to let her know that I wasn’t going to let her do this to me. That I wasn’t going to take this from her, but if I said that I knew she would make sure I became just like Jena.

Jena. I missed her. I wished that I hadn’t left her like that. Why had I done that? Just so I could be popular. Just so I wouldn’t have to be teased all of the time. So I wouldn’t have to be picked on.

I left her! I left her to the lions and I did nothing to help. What kind of friend am I?

Kate should do what she does to me, for what I did to Jena: An eye for an eye.

As soon as I pulled my step father car in fount of Kate mansion sized home. Well at least to me her house was mansion sized. I felt weird to be here. Here was in front of the house of my so called friend. She had helped me send Jena to her faint and soon she would do the same for me.

My heart was racing as I got out of the car. I knew it could not have been because of her house being so huge showing just the kind of money she had, no it had to be because of what happened the other day.

I walked up to the front of her house and ringed the door bell. Her mother answered the door; her short dyed blond hair was pulled back from her brown eyes. It looked like she was trying to grow her hair back long.

“Oh hi sweetie I am so sorry.” She laughed. “I was working out to that new song that’s been playing all over the radio.”

I smiled an ok.

“Well Kate is in the backyard.” She said letting me in. “Did you want anything to drink? I have alcohol if you want.”

“No thanks.”

Kate mom was a mess, but I would be to if I found out my husband was always cheating on me with younger girls just older then my seventeen year old daughter. Maybe that’s why she was always trying to behave like a teenager and not a woman in her late thirties.

“Sure.”

“Yes, Ms….”

“I told you call me Beth.”

“Oh sorry.”

“That’s ok; just remember I am one of the girls.” She laughed.

“Yes.”

“Well I guess you are going to the back now.” She said smiling. “I’ll see you in a few.”

“Ok.” I said and started to walk to the back of the big house.

I finally got to the back of the house and saw that everyone was sitting around the glass table, with a few drinks.

I walked over to where they were and looked over at Kate only to see that she was smoking. Did she do everything so beautifully? How could someone make smoking look so nice!?

Her eyes came to mine and I saw how they looked annoyed.

Smiling at her I set down by Mindy and saw that Stephenie was drinking and Mindy was smiling lightly at me. I was glad that the only sit that was left was the one by her.

“Stephenie Mindy go home.” Kate stated and they both looked at one another, but all the same left just as she had told them to.

But before they left I had looked at Mindy trying to see what was going to happen, but she looked at me as if she did not know either.

As soon as they walked though the back door to Kate’s house and closed the door Kate stopped smoking. She though the cigarette from her hand onto the ground only to stomped it out. She began shaking her head at me and looked like she was rolling her eyes as well.

I turned my head from her eyes not wanting to look at her face for the moment. I just looked over her backyard.

Kate’s backyard looked nice as always. It was hot and the pool shine brightly with the sun’s light hitting it. Her mother flowers smelled lovely. I had always loved her backyard, so much better than mine.

I was sitting on her deck outside, not wanting to sit in her mother’s lovely lawn chairs that I knew Stephenie and Mindy had been enjoying before I had came. They always went to the lawn chairs first, and then they would come over here to the glass table when they wanted to talk or drink.

“Why have you been acting like a bitch?” She asked all of a sudden well really I don’t think that she was asking me anything, but implying that I had been acting like that, because she left no time for me to replay nor did the tone of her voice make it seem like she wanted to hear what I had to say on the matter. “Mike told me what happened last night.”

I remembered Mike trying to have sex with me and me pretty much yelling at him and even having to leave him in that room alone or from what I knew.

Ha he may have went down the stairs and got some other girl to have sex with him for all

I knew, the jerk.

I couldn’t believe my so called friend would put me in that kind of situation.

My eye began looking back at her hers and I saw that her eyes glared at me. I almost thought I saw confusion in her hers.

It was like she thought she would see fear in my eyes but I didn’t give her any fear. I didn’t let her bring me down not today. She wasn’t about to make me feel like I had to listen to her every word.

I was getting tired of all this crap! I was sick of having someone rule over my life, having someone tell me what to do! If this was what being popular was about, then well

I’m over trying to be popular.

“No you are the one acting like a b! Or more like you are the b!” I said and watched how her face looked as if she could not believe I had just said that to her or at least to her face.

Kate walked over to me and I got up from my seat looking at her just as hardly as she was looking at me. She looked as if she was going to slap me.

“Oh look at you Minnie. Still can’t swear! What a good little girl you are, but Minnie I made you and I can break your sorry ass any day I want!” She yelled. “I let you join my group so that you could be popular. I own this school and I’m not even a senior yet. I let you come into my cliché and this is the thanks you give me, huh? Talking back and acting like a prissy ass little bitch!”

“Oh cry and wine why you don’t! You whinny little baby!”

And then she slapped me. Loud and hard. My face I knew had turned red but as soon as the jerk did slap me I slapped her back, if not harder and I made sure it was louder.

Her face had turned red to, even with that great tan of hers. I wasn’t too sure if she had turned red from my slap or out of pure angrier, but I didn’t even care.

She looked at me and her eyes felled up with so much hate for I second I felt scared.

“I am going to tell everyone all about you.” She began and looked at me as if she thought I was nothing but dirt. “I am going to tell everyone so many bad things about you. You are going to have to transfer states to go to school.”

“I don’t give a rat butt what you tell people.” I said feeling like I wished I hadn’t said a thing to Kate about this whole thing.

“Oh you will care.” She said making her eyes look so cold almost demonic. “You could have gone far.”

She said my name. This made me stare at her. She knew my real name.

I knew she could see the shock written clearly over my face. “I thought I saw something great in you, but I guess you are weak just like Mindy, but at least she knows how to play her role. But you dear Minnie you are going to pay for what you just did.” Her smile became cold. “Once I am done with you are going to wish you were as lucky as Jena and begging me to forgive you.”

“I don’t give a rat butt, thank you.” I said. I knew my voice didn’t hold any of the regret I was starting to feel.

She laughed at me and shook her head. “When I first saw you I looked at you and saw plain Jane just like everyone else, but I saw something else. I saw a weed that could be a flower and weed that could be a beautiful rose just like me. I was going to make you a weed into a beautiful flower and this is what you do? I gave you a life that people dream of having and you are acting just like that stupid girl Jena and look where she is at Minnie look where she is at.” As she spoke Jena named there was something I was missing behind how she said it. I wasn’t sure what but I knew that there was something I didn’t hear. “I tried to help you make you look better and even be better.”

She was shaking her head.

I rolled my eyes.

“At the cost of being like you?”

“Oh you wish you where me just like everyone else. They all wish they were Katelyn Marie Banks. Everyone wishes this no matter how much they hate me and you know what you’ll never be me and tomorrow you are going to be wishing you were me even more, because you’ll know only if you where me this would all stop.”

I watched as her cold smile went back across her lips.

“I don’t care what you do.” I said yet again knowing soon I would hate saying those words.

“I know you care, we all care, that’s way they listen to me Minnie and that’s why you will regret what you did. Because deep down we all care what people think now get the hell out.”

“Minnie was you listening to me?”

I looked up at Kate and shook my head. “I am sorry. It will not happen again. I am going to talk to Mike later on tomorrow.”

“Good. A kiss won’t hurt you hell have sex with him won’t hurt you. With the looks you have you should be thanking me. I am helping you out. He is a good looking guy and honestly you know you can’t do any better.”

She was trying to be funny nice in her own little way, but I couldn’t laugh for I was still hung over by the day dream I had just had.

If only……but then again what would I have done if only had happened.
