(Only Thirty Shopping Days Left!)
Lisa and Sam watched Audra blend perfume oil with the squinting, careful attention to detail worthy of any alchemist.
“So what is it going to be?” Lisa asks.
“There was a study done a while back which showed the ideal perfume to stimulate the area of the male brain responsible for arousal was a blend of pumpkin pie and lavender.”
“Seriously?” Sam asks, snickering.
“Yes, which made me ponder why, exactly. And I’m thinking that it has to do with the way in which, even at the cellular level, men have classified the terms of their desire.”
“They want nurturers –“ Lisa broke in.
“ – and the feminine ideal.” Sam concluded.
“Yes, I quite agree. It is a combination of competency and allure. Then we must consider the significance of the ingredients. Lavender is a water element, essentially feminine. Lavender achieves balance, it is versatile, it is healing and calming. It can be used both externally and internally. These are all elements of ideal womanhood. And what is used in pumpkin pie? Well, most of the same spices as one would use to make gingerbread, or the exact same spices, depending on your sense of taste.”
Lisa and Sam exchanged a Look of Significance.
“So this works better than pheromones?” Lisa asked.
“It could, because it’s invoking more than mere biology. It is the synergy of male and female, of the Two which are ultimately One.”
“So what does it smell like?” Sam inquired, leaning forward.
“We have to give it some time to meld and breathe. But it’s not important how it smells to us, but rather, how it is perceived by them. And that calls for field testing, naturally.”
“Naturally,” Lisa echoed, a shade cynical.
“You don’t get anything if you don’t first ask for it,” Audra proclaimed with a wink.
