Ramen is for Losers

Chapter 5
Ramen is for Losers

"Well your room is… interesting." Gabe stated with a not so amused face as he lifted a pair of my dirty boxers from the floor. I rolled my eyes at him, walking over and swatting his wrist making him drop the garments.

"Don't tell me your room was spotless when you were alive." I stated as I sat down on the unmade bed. Gabe looked at me with almost sad eyes.

"I never really had a room growing up. I shared with my 3 other siblings. See my mom was doing it all by herself and we never really had that much money. I tried to keep my portion of the room clean, but it never really stayed that way." My mouth as agape and my eyes wide.

"I'm sorry. I didn't know. I would have kept my mouth shut." I started, reaching up one of my hands to rub at the back of my neck, my eyes looking down at the floor then. I heard snickering. My head shot up, making the brown haired one burst out laughing.

"Dude, I was kidding. I was an only child." He sat down next to me. "And my room wasn't cleanest of the year, but I did put my dirty laundry in a hamper." He stated looking around my room again with distaste.

"Ass." Was all I said as I crossed my arms over my chest and pouted.

"Alright my fake angst-y sibling, lets get started looking for clues shall we?" The other boy rose from my head to poke his head around my room some more, making sure to stay away from the dirty piles of laundry. He irritated me with no end, but it felt good to have him around. Maybe it was because he was the first person that could hear me and see me since I died. And why did he keep calling me his sibling? "Because yo, you acted like a younger brother. I didn't have one myself but almost all of my friends had younger siblings and the way you are acting is just like them." Okay, the reading the mind thing is getting on my nerves again. "Sorry." He muttered as he sat down at the computer desk, reaching out his hand to move the mouse. "I told you before. Its habit now. In the plain, we don't speak with our mouths. We use our minds." He explained as his blue eyes took in my desktop picture of Mo and I in our school uniforms. "Dude, your obsessed."

"Am not." I stayed as I got up and walked over to him. "I love him, is all." I watched as he moved the mouse around to click on icons and stuff. Going through my recycle bin. "How can you move and pick up things?" It had been bothering since he had picture the picture frame over at Mo's house when he scared the living shit out of me. He shrugged his shoulders.

"I told you. Experienced ghost can move things. Its taught to you when you go to the plain. You'll have to take classes and stuff while your there. Gets you into the grove of being dead in the plain. Only its not like your dead there. Its like another life where your immortal." I moved sit on the ground then, one of my eyebrows lifted.

"How long have you been dead?" I asked softly, wondering if it was too personal question to ask of the other. He snorted softly.

"About six years now I guess. And its not too personal. That's almost how we recognize people there. 'Hey! Guy that's been dead 4 months and died in a train wreck! How you doin'?' As an example. That's why we need to find out how you died and why. Its all a matter of identification."

"You know, your kind of good at this for this being your first time. Making me feel all better and everything about people knowing me up there by how I died and how long ago it was. Oh! And lets not forget I still have to go to school!" I stated sarcastically. He turned to look down at me then.

"I never said this was my first time advising someone, nor did I say the plain was up there." He pointed to the ceiling. "The plain isn't up there or down there. Its in a totally different reality."

"So all the stuff the religious people think is wrong." He shrugged his shoulders.

"No one is right or wrong. If you believe in god, then yes there is a godly like figure that is there." He sighed softly, putting a hand to his head. "I hate getting into this kind of stuff. Just save those questions for your teachers in the plain. I'm here to help you now with how you died. Not give you the grand tour of the plain. Who knows if we will even see each other when you go there." Wait.. He wasn't going to be with me while I was there? "Nope. You'll find your own way while there. No one helped me, not even my spirit adviser. Now, lets getting to looking for clues." He turned his head back to the screen to look through my log files of my msn messenger.

"Hey! Those are private!" He started laughing softly.

"I see you have a web cam. Mo enjoyed that I see." He looked over to me with a smirk as my cheeks turned a bright red. "'Oh, that's it baby. Yeah, in and out. Don't go so fast.' God! You guys are bad." He started reading off more of the conversation, making my whole body turn red.

"Stop it!" I whined as I stood and closed out the window, pushing him out of the way as he laughed his ass off. "I'm sure you and your boyfriend, did something similar." He stopped in his laughing after I finished.

"I had a girlfriend. I'm straight, kid. Sorry but sticking my dick up someone's ass and getting shit on it is not my cup of tea." He stated with another shrug.

"Its not like that!"

"Oh, then what's it like then?"

"Its, its. Grrrr! Just forget it." I stated then looked down at the mouse in amazement for a moment, while Gabe smirked at me. "I moved it." He nodded his head.

"With inexperienced ghost, when they feel strong emotion they can move things, or be seen by people who ere still alive or be heard."

"That's why Mo sometimes seemed like he could hear, feel, and see me." Gabe nodded his head. "And that's why you looked at him when we were at his house and I started loosing me mind." He nodded again. Some things were starting to click in my head now.

"Good boy! You get a bisect. Now lets see if you can figure out why you died!" He spoke as if he were talking to a dog. I sent a glare at him. "And lets move from this room. Nothing to find here, but condoms, dirty clothes, and bowls of-" He leaned in closer to a bowl that I had left sitting on my desk. "Eww." He looked up at me with his nose wrinkled. "Ramen." That had to make me laugh, as he gagged at the smell and mold that had grown on it. "Dude, that is so gross. Come on. Let the mold feed on itself and not on me." He stated as he walked through the wall to the next room.

I hurried after him, running through the wall. That was still a weird sensation. I never thought about how our house the laid out and what room was next to mine. I gasped as I saw the wolf posters and horses all around. I walked quickly over to Gabe as opened one of the drawers in the wooden dresser.

"I don't think we should be in here." I stated, looking around the room wearily. I was never allowed in here when I was alive, either by mom or my sister.

"Chill kid." Was all he stated as he went through the drawer and pulled out a note book. "Hmm. Looks like I found a diary." He walked over to the bed and sat down on it, crossing one of his legs under him and letting the other one dangle. I sighed softly, this room made me very uncomfortable, and by the way Gabe was shifting around so much on the bed, I think it made him that way too. " This was your sister's room wasn't it?" He asked and I nodded my reply.

"How did you know?" I made my way over and sat on the bed next to him.

"This journal entry." I looked at the chicken scratch of writing and could barely make out a word. The other boy must have seen the look on my face because he started reading out the writing.

"Dear Diary, Cayden got his grades again today. All A's as usual. Mom was so excited she took him out to dinner at some restaurant. Didn't even invite me and David to go with them. They just got their shoes on and left. Cayden gets on my nerves. He's the wonder child. Mom has always liked him more then me, even when Dad was still around. They're both more proud of him then me! I'm older, I should be the sparkle in their eye, not that fag. And yes he is a fag. They says say, oh go look at Cayden, he's doing so well in school. I'm so proud of him. What do I get? Screaming when I come in the house at 4 in the morning. I'm 20 years old! I have a right to stay out however late I want to. But David makes it better. He's working up a plan to get Cayden back for me. I'll let him. Cayden needs to feel what its like to be on the bottom. To be the one being screamed at, while I sit and watch with a smile on my face. It needs to be Annie in the spotlight, while Cayden drifts in the shadows. And that's what it will be. Annie will live on while Cayden just disappears."

My body was shaking as he finished. "Your sister had something wrong with her brain dude. I've heard and sibling rivalry but I think this is going over the line just a little."

"I told you she always hated me." I stated, as I was drew back into realty by Gabe's voice. I remember that night. Mom took me to some Japanese steakhouse. And Annie was gone when we got home. We brought her back something to eat. Her and her stupid boyfriend both. But to think that she hated me so much to want me to disappear? It was just too much.

"But you know, people always say they're going to come up with something to get back at another person, but most never do anything. And you said she was jealous of you, not that she hated you." Gabe stated as he stood keeping the book in his hand. He was walking to the door when he looked over his shoulder at me. "Come on. Lets go to your mom's room. Your sister is giving me the creeps." He stated with a smile. He must have known it was freaking me out to think things like that about my own family. I would never even think about hurting anyone, let alone a person that shared the same blood as I did. And she wrote that before she moved out. I stood and walked over to Gabe where he waited for me. I looked down at the book.

"Won't someone see it?" I asked as I raised my brow. "A random notebook moving around the house would send Mom to her grave." He snorted.

"We really need to get you to the plain. No, as long as its not connected to anything I can make it just as invisible as I am." He stated as he walked through the door. "Haven't you ever known you putting something somewhere, yet it wasn't there when you went to go get it?" I nodded my head.

"But it was mostly Mom moving stuff around."

"But those times that it weren't, it might have been a ghost." He stated as we walked down the darkened hallway. Mom must not have been home anymore. "Come on kid. Lets go see what mommy's been hiding from her golden child." He walked through mom's door just like every other door that we had come across. It made me wonder how he knew his way around our house so well. When I walked into the room Gabe was already going through drawers again.

"Why do you always hit those first?" I asked as I put my hands on my hips and rolled my eyes.

"You really look like a flamer like that." He stated, making my arms drop to my sides and my cheeks heat up. "And because it is a well known fact that females keep the most secretive and important things in their drawers. Plus it was where mom kept her dildo and other sex toys." That made me gag. I didn't even want to think about my mom having that stuff. "Or in-between her mattress and box springs." It made me start to wonder about Gabe and his life before he died. "I was a problem child, if you must know."

"I didn't really want to after you stuck that lovely image into my head." He shrugged his shoulders at me.

"At least you did walk in on your mother using one." My eyes went wide as he smirked at me. "It scared me for life. My friends couldn't look at me without laughing for a while after I told them." He took out a photo album from my mom's drawer, holding it in front of him as he flipped through it. "Aww, you were such a cute baby." He then looked at me. "What happened?" I hit him in his shoulder softly.

"That wasn't very nice."

"And you hit like a girl. No wait, I think my old girlfriend could hit harder then you." He stuck his tongue out at me. He dropped the book back into the drawer as he closed it, opening another one. "Why am I the only one looking around here? Go look in the closet. Diaries, pictures, anything that looks like it would have something to do with why you're dead."

In the end we found nothing in Mom's room. She was clean as a whistle, that had an obsession with her son. Gabe was currently looking through another one of her photo albums, sitting cross-legged on her bed.

"Dude, I think she wanted you. No mother, has this many pictures of her son, no matter how great he is." We had found four books with 200 pages in each of pictures of me. Maybe she was a little too obsessed with me. "I'm beginning to think everyone in your family had some kind of obsession. You its your boyfriend, what ever his name is, your sister, it was being better then you and stocking you, and your mom it was completely you. Everything you did she had a document of it." I huffed then, pulling my knees up to my chest as I sat at the headboard, my back to it.

"Whatever." I stated as I rolled my eyes.

"No, kid." He scooted back so that he was resting beside, the photo album open in his lap. "Look at this." He pointed to a picture of me in a speedo that Julian had dared me to wear once. "What mom keeps that picture and why was she even there?"

"She liked to be included in my life." I stated getting defense of the matter.

"Yeah, whatever."

"Look just because your mom didn't give a damn about you, don't make mine look bad. She did everything she could to help me through school and stuff when my dad left us!" Gabe grabbed me then, pushing me down onto my side. I looked up at his face and his blue eyes held deep disgust.

"Don't you ever talk about my mother, whom you know nothing about. I haven't told you a damn thing about her, you spoiled little brat. Get this through your head Cay-den, no one on the plain wanted your case, but I got stuck with it. And I didn't come here to baby sit a worthless teen spirit like you. I came to do my job and I can't do that if you don't help. I don't need to know how I died, I'm already passed that. You need to know." My body was shaking as he lifted his hands from me, I'm sure I'll have bruises where he held me. He got off the bed and started pacing the room. It would take an idiot to not notice he was mad, ragging really. I sat up again, raising one of my hands to the back of my neck and rubbing it gently.

"I'm sorry." I stated, he didn't stop in his pacing. "I didn't have any right to say what I did." Still nothing from him. My brows frowned slightly. "Gabe. How did you die?" That made him stop and look at me again with his piercing blue eyes.

"I got in the way of the bullet that was meant for my mother."

A/N: Okay, so I got on a writting kick all of a sudden. Lol. Thanks for the reviews! I have to blame them for it. XD Just makes me want to write a lot when I get them!
