Q&A
A/N: Hello everybody, unfortunately I won't have time to finish the last few parts and edit chapter 5 (I was invited to go watch some LotR extended edition), but here are some answers to reviews as well as part of the next chapter.

What exactly happen with the coming of age?
In Isormine and Aryau, you come of age at 16, and that's when you're rewarded many legal rights (as a citizen, in taverns to drink, etc). You can get engaged and married before then, however, although it's against social standards to marry before 14 or so. It basically shows a mature status, and when the soldiers realize that Naru isn't even of age yet, they are uneasy because they know he's about to be mated to someone nearly twice his age.

If the lord guy doesn't have to marry the darra, then what will thier relationship be like? Is it just marriage without the ceremony?
Hope I answered this last chapter with Eulovanic's explanation, but it's not quite like marriage because there's no clause of permanent commitment. So Eulovanic could let Naru go if he wanted to halfway.
Also, if the darra are so valuable wouldn't the lord guy have to hand him over to the king or something?
Heh, this was actually one of the things I was thinking about! But the king is older now, and he is already married with children (Princess Rainie being one of them).

This story sounds like you read 'The Gift of Ys' On nifty by Jae Monroe.
Actually I've never read that story, although I went and googled it after reading your review (because I like reading these types of stories too). However, I browsed through it and couldn't find many similarities except for the "dara" part.
I actually got "darra" and "daire" from babynames.com. I put a search through there for "fertile", rofl. If you look those names up, they both mean "fruitful, fertile" and I thought they sounded alike so I made one the singular form and the other a plural form.
I WAS inspired a lot a lot a lot by Rift by Jenner on AFF. I think that if you read parts of her Rift, Rind, or Rise series, you will definitely like it if you like this story. This story was actually a response to some of the characters in Rift and all; I was frustrated and wanted to create characters in a similar situation that, like Shinji put it so awesomely, didn't "roll over like a kicked puppy and not struggle". I wanted some reaction and some sacrifice on the damn father's part, darn it.
Anyway, onto the teaser! Thank you for all the reviews, I really appreciate it!
