Class Of 98 - 4

I wake up at six o'clock in the morning. I dress and go up stairs trying not to wake Sean. Up stairs my grandmother, mother and Jackie are all sitting and having breakfast. "Well I never remembered the table being this crowded." I say grabbing a piece of toast and a cup of coffee.

"Don't you want a seat?" Jackie asks making to move.

"Oh no I am about to go down stairs and wake up my prince charming." I say finishing my toast and walk down stairs with my coffee in hand. I sit on the bed after putting the coffee down on the table and kiss Sean. He opens his eyes. "Morning."

"What a way to be woken up. With the kiss of an angel." He says. I hand him the coffee. "Oh and coffee. What would I do with out you?"

"Not have your morning cup of coffee or a good morning kiss. Well I have to go." I say getting back up. "I have to drive Mark and Stephanie to school then play visit."

"Have fun." He says then he puts down his coffee and pulls me down on to the bed. "Then maybe we can play when you get back." He kisses me before I can protest.

"Sean maybe if my mother is gone." I say pushing him off me and standing up. I grab the car keys and walk out of the house. After living in England's foggy mornings it felt great being back in normal weather situations. I walk out front and Mark and Stephanie are sitting on the front porch. "Well lets get going." I say. We all pile in to the car. I drop Stephanie off at junior high so Mark got in to the front. "So tell me, are all of the teachers I had still there?"

"Most of them." Mark says. I turn on to Home Avenue. The school had a huge field that held a small nature trail. The school still looked the same from the outside. It was yellow with brown windows. In the front entrance a small arrow shaped sign said Morton West High School. On the tallest part of the building held the school crest which read 'J. Sterling Morton-What I will-I can' the schools famous motto. I turn in to the parking lot and park in the visitor's section.

"So, are you going to show this senior citizen around a little?" I ask.

"Amy you are not that old." He says and gets out of the car and I do the say. We walk out of the parking lot and up to the front of the building. Mark goes and joins some friends while I walk up to the front door. I enter and walk up to a huge desk.

"Hi Gloria." I say to the small lady sitting behind the desk.

"Oh my lord. Amy Showers, it has been five years." She says.

"Yep. So let me guess I still have to get a visitors pass." I say signing in on a sheet of paper.

"Yes you do." She says handing me one.

"Thanks." I say taking it and rush up the stairs and around the corner. In the middle of the hall way a woman is trying to open a door. "Hi Mrs. W." I say.

She turns around. "Amy." She then unlocks the door. "How have you been?"

"Fine. Yourself?" I ask.

"Ok. So what have you been doing with yourself? I saw one of your books on the best sellers stand." She asks putting the bag on her desk.

"Well I opened my own computer business, my boyfriend is teaching up a storm, writing, getting engaged." I say showing the ring.

"Oh I am so happy for you." She says giving me another hug.

"Thank you." The last bell that started classes rang. "Well I had better get out of here before your class starts. I hope I will see you again. Bye." I say.

"Bye." She says and I leave the room. I stay for a couple of hours more and then I leave to pick up Melissa.

I pull up to 'Melissa's Little Jungle Preschool'. Melissa is standing outside. She has changed a lot since high school. She was at one time pudgy but now she is as small as I am now, but she still has curly brown hair. I stop the car in front of her.

"Hey want a ride sweet heart?" I ask.

"Amy? Is that you?" She asks with a puzzled voice.

"Yep it is me. Hop on in." I say opening the door.

She gets in to the car. "Wow this is a nice car, and you have changed so much since you left for England." She says as I pull away from the curb. "Oh I never said thanks for the book you sent to me."

"No problem, you were the one to inspire me for the story." I say pulling in to a parking space at the mall. We get out and walk up to the building and enter walking to the restaurant. After we sit down and order our drinks I say, "Look." I hold up my hand.

"You and Sean are going to get married." She cries. I look down with a worried look. "Hey, what is wrong? I have never seen you like this."

I pick up my head with tears in my eyes. "I don't think I can marry him. I have not been completely truthful with him."

"What do you mean?" She asks taking one of my hands in to hers.

"In my sophomore year at the college one of my professors propositioned me." I say.

"What?"

"It was when I was really sick and had to be hospitalized. Well I had a major project due for my programming class and missed the due date and it was half of my grade for the semester. Well when I got back I walked in to my professors office and....

"Professor Thomas, you said I could come and see you about my project." I said standing in the doorway.

"Yes, come in and close the door and sit down." He said and I did as he asked and took a set in front of his desk. Professor Thomas was young and very good looking with brown hair and blue eyes. "Could I have the disk please?" He asked. I handed him a black computer diskette. He popped it in to the computer sitting on his desk and started the program I had written. "This is very good work. It is very late though." He said eyeing me with his blue eyes.

"As I had pointed out Professor I was extremely sick and had to be hospitalized." I said.

"Yes I do recall you saying that to me earlier today." He said. "But I had said I could not except late projects." He said standing up and walking around the desk to sit on the edge in front of me.

"I know that but I was hoping you would make an exception for me because of the circumstances." I said.

"Well there is one way you could convince me to take and count this project." He said.

"Extra Credit?" I asked.

"I would call it Extra Curricular." He said leaning forward. "If you know what I mean?" He said grabbing my upper arm and running his hand along it. I looked up in to his eyes and saw something I had never seen before.

I stood up quickly. "Professor Thomas. I cannot sit here and take this."

"Well then you will not pass my class. All I am asking for is for one time." He said grabbing both my arms and turning me so I lied down on his desk.

"Professor, stop!" I yelled but he did not listen but continued. He pushed the skirt I was wearing up. The next few minutes I could not believe. When he was finished he pulled away.

"I think that deserves an A+." He said. I got off of his desk quickly and ran out of the office.

"Oh my god. Amy, what did you do after that?" Melissa asks with a shocked look on her face.

"I ran down to campus security. Since I went to them right after and had the evidence they arrested him. You are the only person I have told. My family and Sean know nothing about this. You have to swear to me that you will not tell them." I say in a pleading voice.

"All right. Lets talk about something else. Do you remember the day we became friends?" She asks.

"Like it was yesterday. It was that day when that one guy Tom that sat next to you was moved to my seat in the front of the room..."

"Mr. Tom Terus please move to Amy Showers seat. Amy Showers move to his seat next to Melissa Fontello." Mrs. Fight my General Science teacher said. I did as she said.

"Hello. I am Melissa." The girl said when I sat down. She had brown hair and green eyes.

"Hi, I am Amy." I said.

"Let me see your schedule?" She said and I handed her my schedule. "We have General Math together also. This is great."

"Yea. I thought I would have a hard time making friends today." I said.

"Well don't worry I know a lot of people." She said.

"And ever since that day you and I have been friends except for the last half of freshman year and most of sophomore year." I say.

"Oh yea. I remember now you were driving me crazy one day and...."

Melissa came over and pushed me. When I got up I took my purse and started to hit her. Mr. Ginesco broke us up. "Stop this right now." He said pushing us apart.

"I never want to be your friend again you fat ass bitch." She said. Just then a security member walked by.

"Hey would you take these two downstairs?" The teacher asked.

"Of course. Come on Melissa and Amy." She said.

I sat there laughing. "But the best part was how we made up. I was walking home from school and was going through that park on Oak Park and you said..."

"Hey Amy." I walked on. "Hey. Come on. Hey how about this I apologize."

I smiled. "Ok. Friends."

"Friends. Hey I will sign your yearbook and you will sign mine." She said. We sat down and took each other's book and signed. "Boy I cannot believe that sophomore year is over and we were acting like asses the entire year."

"Yea. Hey I am really sorry." I said.

"Me too." She said. "Come on I will walk you home." We got up and started walking.

"I wish we could have gone back and made that right. That was the most stupidest thing in the world." Melissa says. Our lunch comes and we eat in silence. We start talking when the coffee comes.

"Do you remember when you and I were in the same English class?" I say.

"Oh god I think we did more talking in there than the rest of the class put together." She says.

"Oh I just remembered something. The graduation." I say.

"When the honors student strips down to a baby dipper. Oh god that was great I think the class made a really big mark with that one." She says. We talk for half an hour more then I pay and we leave. I drop her out front of her house.

"We need to get everyone together before the end of the week." I say.

"Yea. I will call you." She says.

"See yea." I say and drive away.
