EPISODE 5
EPISODE 5
Amanda made her way to work. Barnes and Nobles saw something in her. So they hired her for a sales position. She was happy to be able to get out that house. They only part that she hated was having to leave her nephew with that psycho woman. Her sister was at work. Instead of taking him to the baby-sitter her mother agreed to watch him. Amanda did not get the nerve to call that number. She thought that she would wait a little longer. Amanda walked into the familiar building. She walked by books and people. She was told over the phone to go to the break room where she sat and waited before for her interview. She opened the door and there he was. Sitting at the long table.
“Well hello again.” Jordan said. She looked at him and she felt her heart stop. Her breath was taken away.
“Hello.” She smiled. She sat right across from him so that she could stare into his blue eyes. Jordan is mixed with Irish American and Puerto Rican. He inherited his fathers blue eyes.
“Well I see we both were lucky.” Jordan smiled. He stared at her. He knew that working with her would be interesting.
“Yeah I see. Not to be rude but how old are you?” Amanda was curious.
“No it’s no problem at all, I’m 21.” Jordan was older then her.
“I’m 18. I’ll be 19 in February.” She said it to ensure him that she wasn’t too young for him. If he caught on she didn’t know.
“Cool. I just turned 21 in November. I haven’t been 21 for a whole month yet.” He laughed. “But I did have my first drink on my birthday.” She laughed with him now.
“Well that’s how you’re suppose to do it. I can’t wait for that. I always wanted to drink but my sister never would let me.”
“Well that’s a good sister then. My father use to drink all the time. Then one day he died from liquor poisoning. I’m trying not to drink so much. I don’t want to put my grandmother through another heartache. Oh yeah I live with my grandmother. My mother left when I was young.” Amanda looked at him. She knew that they were going to get along great.
“My mother left me too. But I wasn’t young. So I knew what was going on. The reason she left I’m not sure of but I don’t give a damn to know.” Amanda looked down at the table trying to avoid his gaze at her.
“I’m sorry. Maybe it’s better not to know the truth anyway.” Amanda nodded her head. They both stood there in silence and waited for someone to come and train them.
Brian got out the shower and began to dress. He told Liam that he could come over and chill with him. Brian tried to clean as much as he could before Liam came over. What you don’t know is that Brian lives alone. His mother was killed in a fire at his old home. So he inherited his mothers money that she left him in her will. He moved into his own place in lower Manhattan. There he stood with the mop in his hand. He looked in the mirror and smiled at himself. He was getting help. He felt that the fire was his entire fault. He had candles lit and he left the house that night of the accident. So he was visited one day from his mother (or someone that he thinks is his mother). That day the woman told him some evil things. The woman blamed him for everything. So he went into the kitchen and grabbed the nearest knife and slit his wrist. He was emotionally unstable after that. He had cause many arguments with Kimberly but she knew what he was going through so she still stuck by him. So that was when he knew that he had to get help. Brian finished mopping when his phone had rang. He looked at the caller ID and he saw Kimberly’s name. He clicked the button and sent it straight to voice mail.
“Hey there Liam.” Brian greeted him as he opened the door to let him in.
“Well finally I get to see the house of Brian Martinez.” Liam entered and began to nod his head. “I like so far. What else is there to see?” Brian walked in front of Liam.
“Follow me and you’ll see the rest.” Liam walked behind Brian. He began to smile. He lost all his friends and he never felt so alive as he did when he was around Brian. Brian took Liam into his room.
“This is my small as room.” Brian laughed. Liam walked over to the bed and sat down.
“This bed is comfortable. I bet you and Kimberly be having fun on here.” He rubbed the sheet and smiled. Brian looked at Liam sitting there and he felt weird. He had never had a gay guy on his bed. Brian felt very uncomfortable.
“Well this is my room. Now let’s go into the living room.” Brian quickly walked out the room. Liam looked around the room and smiled.
“Why would all your friends just stop talking to you for being gay?” Brian asked him. They sat there in the living room on the plush blue sofa.
“I grew up in a family that is very religious. My friends were all from Catholic school. Every Sunday we would go to church and I would feel like fire was burning me. As if the church building itself knew I was gay. I was scared.” Liam looked down at his feet.
“ So how did they all find out?” Brian took a sip of his soda and waited for Liam to answer. Brian had never had a gay friend. He wasn’t homophobic he just never came across one before.
“I had a boyfriend….”Liam began and he slowly lifted his head up to look at Brian. “We would always be together. He would come to church with me, he would come to my house, and we were joined at the hip. Then one day I found him behind the church making out with one of the choirgirls. I blew it. I started screaming and cursing. I asked him why and the only thing he could say was
“I’m not gay you faggot. Get over your crush for me.” Liam began to cry. “I loved him so much. After that I was banned from church and kicked out of school cause all the boys were scared that I would touch them.” Liam tried to talk but his voice got raspy from all the crying. He stuttered as he talked.
“I..I..I..I.. never thought th..th..that my life would turn out like this.” Brian looked at Liam and he felt horrible.
“Okay Liam you can stop now. I don’t want you to relive that. You are making a change for the better. Those people were never really your friends. They were all assholes. I’m here for you though. I’ll be your friend till we die and I promise you that.” Brian got up and got closer to Liam. He put his arm around him and held him as he cried.
“Look into my eyes. I am so sorry to have to do this to you but it has to be this way. I can’t take it anymore.” Carl told his mother. She sat there in her new room. The nursing home was now going to be her permanent home. “Please don’t hate me. I have to get you help. You have lost 20 pounds since dad disappeared. You have to get help.” Carl kissed his mother on the forehead. She just sat there motionless. Carl began to walk towards the door to leave when he felt weird. He felt something cold touch his shoulder. He turned around but there was no one there. “Well mom I’m going now. I’ll visit you tomorrow.” Carl walked out the room into the corridor. He stood against the wall. Hr hated having to leave her there. He hated himself for all the bad things that he has done. But Carl knew that nobody except David could know about that. NOBODY. Carl left the nursing home and never looked back at the building.
Theresa smiled at the customers as they came and went. “Hello welcome to H&M.” Theresa loved her job. Everything about it was great. Theresa was folding some shirts when she felt someone bump her. She turned around and there she saw Shaquita.
“Great they let a animal in here.” Theresa began to fold her clothes again.
“Funny Theresa. So how was your day yesterday?” Theresa looked at her.
“It was okay why are you asking?” Theresa knew something was wrong.
“Well I just wanted to know is that so wrong?” Shaquita asked her. Shaquita picked up a shirt from the table next to her. She walked over to Theresa and placed it against her stomach.
“I guess this will still fit you after all.” Shaquita smiled at her. Theresa pushed the shirt away from her stomach.
“You have the nerve you low life bitch. Get away from me before I fuck you up.” Theresa threatened her.
“Well thank God you got rid of your baby after all. Your mouth is too foul to have a baby.” Shaquita smiled her evil smile again.
“How do you know? Spying on me?”
“No not at all. You must not remember my good friend Tyra. The one that was there at the clinic, the one that sat there and talked to you.”
“No wonder that bitch was so nice to me. Well I don’t give a fuck what you know.” Theresa began to walk away.
“Does David know about this?” Shaquita yelled. Theresa stopped and she felt sick. “I didn’t think so Theresa. This is so sad that the girl who he loves would keep something like this from him. SAD. But hey secrets come out sooner or later. Maybe sooner then later.” Shaquita laughed and walked out the store. Theresa stood there for awhile. She knew that she had to tell David the truth. But if she did David would hate her. She saw in his eyes that he wanted that baby.
“Shit what am I going to do?”
Kimberly met Amanda after her first day of work. They walked down the street and talked.
“He is so cute. I am so going to get him.” Amanda told Kimberly about Jordan. She smiled the whole time while talking about him.
“Well it looks like you have a crush.” Kimberly laughed.
“Bitch what is so funny?”
“You have not felt this way since Theodore Green in Junior High School. Remember those days?” Kimberly laughed again.
“Shut up. Those days were sickening. I try to forget all the lengths I went to for him to like me. But he never did.” Now Amanda began to laugh. Amanda took out her cell phone and looked at the screen.
“Waiting for your man to call you?” Kimberly asked her.
“He doesn’t have my number.” Just then Kimberly grabbed the phone.
“I bet you have his.” Kimberly opened Amanda’s phone.
“Give it back to me. I don’t have his either.” Amanda tried to get the phone back but Kimberly was taller then her. She looked through the phone book in the phone and came across the long distance number. The number of the person her mother had the argument with. “Look at this a number with no name and it’s long distance.” Kimberly hit the talk button.
“Hang it up that is not him. That is someone else. Hang it up.” Amanda’s heart began to pound.
Kimberly heard a voice. A woman’s voice.
“Hello? Who is this?” The woman asked.
“Sorry I got the wrong number.” Kimberly hung up. “Why do you have a woman’s number that lives in California?” Amanda’s heart jumped out her chest.
