Chapter Five
Charle shook her head chuckled slightly, She went down the hall and got changed into her normal clothing. As she pulled her top over her head She couldn't help but wonder why she had become so attached to D. After all they hadn't known each other for any real amount of time. She Shrugged into her jacket and let her hair out of it's braid to cascade down her back to her mid-thighs. She combed her hands through it and looked at herself in the mirror. "Well, At least he's cute." She said to herself with a slight chuckle then made her way to the lobby. She stepped off the elevator and with a bright smile walked over to D. She had removed the suspenders from her pants and held them in her hands. She didn't need any more bookcases falling on her today.
"Good idea," He said pointing to the suspenders in her hand, "Want to share a cab? Or do you have a ride?"
"A cab would be good." She said as they walked out the doors, D hailed a cab and once it stopped in front of them he held the door open for Charle.
"Ladies first." He followed her to the cab and told the cabby where to go. There was an awkward silence after that.
"Well, this seems to happen often hm?" Charle said looking over at D. "The awkward silences I mean."
"Yeah, I know. This usually doesn't happen." He looked over at her. "I usually don't hang out with anyone under 18." Charle looked over at him peevishly.
"I told you that I'll be 18 in close to a month." She retorted and looked out the window. D sighed dramatically.
"I guess I can wait that long…" He said then a thought occurred to him. "Wait I gave your brother my number…"
"Yeah and he's barely 16."She said with a snort and looked at him.
"Yeah, but guys don't count!" D replied with a shrug and Charle threw him a nasty look.
"Sexist." She stated simply and looked back out the window. D looked at her and shrugged.
"How does that make me sexist? It's true!” he shrugged again. "Besides, it’s better with girls, that's why it counts. With guys it's just for fun." He said apologetically, thinking that would be the end of it, but Charle had other plans.
"Hey! He may not be related to him but he’s still my brother!" she said slightly defensively.
"You’re not related?" He said bubbly. "That makes nothing wrong with this conversation!" he said, she looked at him with narrowed eyes and punched him in the shoulder. She returned her gaze to the window.
" Hm, change of topic! Go out with me!!" He said cheerfully getting out of the cab, Charle, not thinking got out with him and looked at him as he paid the cabby.
"Give me one reason why I should after what you said about my brother." She said saucily, crossing her arms.
"Well one, you just got out of a cab that was supposed to take you home, so I'm your only way home. And two, you said I was hot!" he said as the cab pulled away, Charle watched it leave then turned back to him, looking defeated.
"Well, I guess those two reasons are good enough." She said nodding her head then grinned at him. "Of course I'll go out with you!"
"Cool." He said as they walked over to his bike. He shoved the helmet and leather jacket over at her.Even though he knew she had a jacket. "Here, I guess I'll take you home after all." She put both on and climbed on the bike behind him and held tightly onto his waist.
She motioned for him to stop as they neared her house, the ride hadn’t been too long, but it had still been fun. When he came to a stop she climbed off of his Motorcycle and took her helmet off, letting the full length of her hair down again. Instead of handing the helmet back to him and running back inside she paused for a moment and smiled at him.
“So, I was thinking that we should go see a movie and dinner or something, after you get some rest.” D said getting off his bike and leaning against it, Charle looked up at him and smiled.
“Yeah that sounds good.” She looked up at him, handed him the helmet and kissed his cheek gently. Then headed towards the house.
“Call me!” D called as he got back on the motorcycle. “After all your brother has my number!” He said and put the helmet on, Charle laughed at him then waved as he left, both forgetting that she was still wearing his jacket. The second she walked into the front door of her home her mother and father were in her face.
“Who was that? And what were you doing on that deathtrap?” Her mother practically screamed at her as she took off her shoes, Charle kept her calm and didn’t reply.
“Welcome home sis!” Benji called from upstairs and her father gave a rather peevish look at the stairs.
“Do you realize that you completely ruined my dinner? The McPherson’s wanted to see you!” Her mother continued on in her tirade as Charle walked past them and toward the stairs.
“And who’s jacket is that?” her mother finished and Charle stopped mid-step.
“Crap… I forgot to give it back…” Charle shrugged, she could always give it back later.
“And for that language you’re grounded! For the week!!!” her father called after her as Charle shut herself in her bedroom and lay down on the bed, falling asleep almost instantly. She woke later by the ringing of a cell phone. She was more then a little confused when she realized that she must have D’s cell in the pocket of his jacket. Thinking it must be him she pulled it out of the pocket and answered it.
“Hello?” She asked a little Groggy.
“…. Is Damian there?” The voice seemed taken back at the fact a female answered the phone.
“Damian…? Oh! You must mean D. No he isn’t. I forgot to give him his jacket back earlier today.” She said simply. “Can I take a message? I’ll be seeing him later today and I can tell him to call you.”
“Who are you?” The voice demanded and Charle was more then a little taken back, she was fully awake now, and completely pissed.
“Excuse me?!” She said Angrily. “And why does that matter?” She never got an answer as the person hung up. She closed the cell phone with an angry click. “Something tells me I’m not going to get along with his friends…” She was startled as the phone rang again, after about a half hour. She contemplated whether to answer it, but decided to anyway.
“Hello?” She asked and was happy that it wasn’t the same voice from earlier.
“You have my phone.” D stated simply and Charle chuckled.
“Yes I do.”
“I’ll come over and pick it up.” D said, by the sound of traffic she figured that he was on a payphone.
“If you give me two hours we could go on that date.” She said in a bubbly tone, an outfit already in mind.
“Ok.” He replied.
“Oh! Someone called for you.” She was about to tell him how rude they were when he got the jump on her.
“I know, look after were done can you just turn the phone off?” he asked and Charle frowned. “I don’t want the battery to die.”
“Ok then, I’ll see you in two hours.” She said
“Can’t wait!” D said his tone back to normal. “Bye.”
“Bye” Charle replied and turned the phone off. She got in the shower and began to get ready for later on. Instead of her normal look she opted for a pretty black EGL dress. It fell to her knees and had a deep square neckline, with bell sleeves. It was completely edged in lace, and had a fishtail skirt. She threw on a jacket and put D’s cell phone in his. Then went downstairs to put on her shoes and wait for him, as it was close to the time he was supposed to be coming. She could hear her parents in the living room, so she slipped quietly out the front door so she could get away without them noticing.
"Good idea," He said pointing to the suspenders in her hand, "Want to share a cab? Or do you have a ride?"
