Evil with the Face of an Angel

Whoo! We’re now on chapter five! And I can tell you I’m really excited about this one. I hope you people will share my enthusiasm once you read it. Things have been going slow, but now we’re going to be delving head first into the mysteries that surround our heroes. But, before we do that I must thank the people that have read this far and give an extra special thanks to the people who have reviewed!

Kiix: Hehe Julian is quite the character, isn’t he? You nailed it on the head that he will do anything to get what he wants, but that does get him into trouble sometimes. And how can I say no when you ask so nicely?

Ojo: Wee thank you very much, I try my best. I hope you enjoy the rest of it.

Well now it’s time to head out! Enjoy the chapter!

***************

In a park surrounded by a thick forest, two figures laid in a clearing, gazing at the stars in the night sky. One of the two sighed happily as he looked at the endless darkness.

“Man, the stars sure are bright tonight,” he whispered, batting away his brown hair from his face.

“Is this the only reason you wanted to come up here, James?” the other man asked, sounding irritated.

“What’s wrong with stargazing, Matt?” the first man asked, looking over at his friend.

“Because it’s so very, very booooring,” he replied. James rolled his eyes and shook his head.

“I don’t see how you can find this boring. The whole galaxy is practically opened up before us and you don’t care? What, pray tell, could be more interesting?” he asked. James suddenly squeaked when Matt rolled over on top of him with a devilish smirk on his lips.

“I could think of something,” he said playfully before catching the surprised man’s lips in a heated kiss. James wiggled underneath him, trying to push him off. The smaller man gasped for breath when his mouth was released and his attacker moved down to his neck.

“Matt!? What are you doing!?” James demanded frantically, still trying to push him off.

“What? You asked me what I found more interesting and I’m showing you,” Matt told him innocently, the vibrations of his voice tickling James’s neck.

“Okay, you showed me! Now get off! What if someone sees us?” he asked, trying hard not to succumb to Matt’s hands that were now roaming over his body.

“Well, you’re going to attract attention if you keep yelling like that,” the man on top of him pointed out and James immediately quieted.

“Matt, stop,” James told him in a softer tone. Matt’s lips traveled up the man’s neck until he came to his ear.

“Come on, you know you want this,” he breathed huskily into James’s ear, his tongue tracing the edge of it. The smaller man shivered and his attempts to push the other away weakened.

“Not here…” he whispered, looking around to see if anyone was in sight.

“Yes here, it makes it far more exciting,” Matt told him and suddenly grinded his hips into James’s. The smaller man gasped and he couldn’t stop his pelvis from moving up into the others.

“You sneaky…bastard,” James choked out through gritted teeth.

“I know I am,” Matt agreed before moving to kiss James again. The smaller man saw there was no use in resisting. So instead of trying to push away he wrapped his arms around the other man’s neck. Matt made a satisfied noise in his throat as he slipped his tongue into James’s mouth.

The brunette mewled at the feeling of the slippery appendage exploring his mouth and he buried his fingers into Matt’s longish, orange dyed hair, trying to make the kiss deeper. Meanwhile, Matt’s hands were busy brushing up the other man’s sides, pushing up his shirt and revealing heated skin.

James shuddered as hands traveled over his chest and went down to his stomach. Matt finally broke their kiss, allowing them both to breathe and he went back to feasting on the smaller man’s neck.

The wandering hands came to rest on James’s buttoned pants and the brunette squirmed in anticipation.

“Stop moving around,” Matt told him, nipping the skin of the other man’s neck as a warning, but that just caused James to fidget more.

“M-Matt…” James breathed out, sounding like a wanting plea. The man on top groaned softly at the delicious sound.

“All in good time,” Matt told him as he successfully undid the button and began pulling down the fly.

James’s breathing was now coming in quick pants and he held onto the other tightly. His embarrassment had gone and he just let himself enjoy Matt’s attention. James opened his eyes that he didn’t recallr closing and they widened as he looked up at the night sky.

“Holy crap!” James suddenly yelled and Matt chuckled.

“I’ve hardly done anything and you’re already crying out? I must be better than I thought,” Matt snickered and the man under him punched his shoulder.

“No, you ego manic, look!” James told him and pointed upwards.

“What?” The other man rolled over slightly so he could look where he was directed to. He squint his eyes when he wasn’t sure if he was seeing things or not.

“What the hell is that?” he muttered. High above the two men a cloud of twisting darkness was passing over them, blotting out the stars.

“I-I don’t know,” James whispered, sounding a bit frightened. They continued to stare at it until Matt grunted, recognizing what it was.

“I think those are just bats,” he said, spotting a few leaving the mass for a moment then returning. “Yeah, just bats.”

“Bats? But there’s so many of them,” James said, sounding doubtful.

“What? You never watch Animal Planet? They like traveling in colonies, it’s what they do, silly,” Matt said teasingly, looking down at the other with a grin.

“Shut up, jerk,” James snapped. “If you’re so smart how come they’re showing up now? I’ve never seen that many bats around here before.” Matt shrugged as he looked back up at the cloud of bats that was already starting to thin.

“Who knows? Maybe they recently moved in. We do have a lot of caves up here,” he suggested.

“I guess that makes sense,” James agreed. They watched the large colony fly over until the last one was gone and out of sight.

“That was rather amazing,” James said with a smile. “You don’t see that every day…night,” he corrected himself.

“Yeah, but back to business,” Matt told him and was quick to pounce on James and pick up where he left off.

“Matt!!!”

***************

Meanwhile, the black mass made its way towards the small town that the park belonged to. When the bats past over a secluding building the cloud dove down to the roof. Before the animals could collide with the surface they began to morph and form together.

Barely a sound was heard as a pair of feet landed upon the rooftop. The group of bats was no where in sight, leaving the figure of a man in their wake. Electric blue eyes quickly searched around the new surroundings, seeking out anything that could be have seen him. The figure quietly made his way to the edge of the roof, looking very much like a predator prowling the shadows. When he got there he peered over the side, down to the street below.

“Well, this certainly feels like the right place,” Lucas murmured to himself, the presences of multiple vampires practically suffocating him. “I’ll have to be a little more than cautious,” he said. With so many vampires running around even the slightest slip in his own presence could give him away.

“Now, just to find where Michael is.” Lucas closed his eyes and reached out his senses far and wide. It only took a moment to locate where the greatest source of power was coming from.

In the blink of an eye Lucas was off, jumping from house to house so quickly he was nothing but a blur. As he went the flood of vampire presences became thicker and thicker. Lucas wasn’t sure why he could read them all so easily. It was like the vampires were flaunting their strength, maybe to intimidate any outsiders, he didn’t know. But something just didn’t seem right. *Could all of these bloodlings really be Michael’s?* Lucas wondered.

The vampire came to a stop on one of the buildings and looked down once more to the street. Lucas saw a group of eight people walking along the sidewalk, one or two were humans, but the rest were vampires. Studying their auras carefully, Lucas got a sense of their power, however limited it was.

“No, not all of them belong to him,” Lucas muttered, not recognizing a familiar feel he knew so well to the auras below. “So not only is Michael making hordes of his own fledglings, but he’s recruiting others,” he figured. *But for what reason?* was the question that rose in his mind.

Pondering it only a moment more, Lucas set off again, heading towards the greatest collection of vampires. But as he went something started to nag at him. *With so many vampires in one area I’m surprised this town hasn’t been completely wiped out of its human population,* he thought. *Though Michael would never be stupid enough to let something like that happen.* Lucas’s features darkened as the image of a smirking man flashed across his eyes.

“No, never that stupid,” he practically growled.

In what seemed like seconds, Lucas arrived at his destination. He stood atop a house sitting across from a very fine looking dwelling. It was a respectable two storey house, the outside painted a deep red and lovely flowerbeds along the bottom.

“Julian wasn’t kidding when he said Michael liked to make his fledglings weak,” Lucas muttered. Within the house Lucas could feel maybe more than fifteen meager vampires, none of which would give him the slightest bit of trouble in a confrontation. But the other vampires he felt could be difficult.

He sensed three powerful vampires and one was all too familiar. A chill ran up his spin at the very thought of the man in the dwelling, a man that caused so much hate to boil up in Lucas’s veins.

The other two vampires, on the other hand, made Lucas curious. From the way Julian talked Lucas figured every single one of Michael’s fledglings would be less than formidable, but the two in the house were just under Lucas’s own strength. They were also most definitely Michael’s by the similarity in their feel.

“Don’t tell me Michael actually found people to make his equal. How unlike him,” Lucas mused. But through all the vampire presences something caught Lucas’s attention, a heartbeat. A single, human heartbeat amidst all the undead creatures, but was it Emily?

“It has to be,” he whispered, hope lingering on his words. As far as Lucas could tell, the human was not inside the house, but behind it. The vampire decided to investigate and vanished into the night air.

The backyard was large and was surrounded by a fence as well as many different trees. Lucas stationed himself in one as a hiding spot as he looked around. Plants and flowers were set along the fence and on either side of a pathway that stretched from the house to the very back of the yard. The path ended at a small pond that was filled with beautiful silver and orange fish. Near the pond a stone bench was placed and seated on it was a young girl. *It’s her! It’s Emily!* Lucas thought joyously.

Emily had changed a bit from the pictures Lucas had seen. Her golden hair was now past her shoulders and touched below her collarbone. She looked a bit paler, most likely from being cooped up inside during the daytime when the vampires were sleeping.

There was no sparkle of joy or happiness in her brown eyes that were now filled with tears. She was hunched over and was gazing down at what looked to be a picture.

Though Lucas could see Emily was healthy and seemed to be unharmed, her sorrow was more than evident. If her brother saw her like this Lucas was certain even the cold, vulgar man would cry. The vampire then tilted his head as he heard Emily start to mutter through her tears.

“I hate this. I hate this so much.” Emily let out a sort of hiccupped sob and more tears filled her eyes and spilled down her cheeks. “Why does he want to hurt you so much, big brother?” she asked, looking down at the picture. “I wish that monster would just leave you alone. I wish…I wish you wouldn’t try to save me. I-If you just forgot me than you wouldn’t have to suffer. You c-could go on with your life instead of jumping through hoops like-like some kind of trained pet,” she choked out, crying even harder.

Lucas was surprised to hear something like that. The girl would rather her brother abandon her to the vampires than save her. He then gave a soft, sad smile. Both the siblings were rather selfless when it came to one another.

The vampire tried to think if there was anyway to get Emily right then and take her back to Julian. Of course, first he’d have to convince the girl he was there to help. Then there would probably only be a short amount of time before the vampires in the house realized she was gone. Then it was a matter if Lucas could get away, but with so many vampires he could easily be overwhelmed, no matter how weak some of them were. And if one of the vampires that pursued him was Michael, there was absolutely no chance of Lucas’s escaping.

Just then the vampire heard a door open and close. He looked up and coming towards where Emily was sitting was a female vampire. Long, wavy hair flowed until it brushed the small of her back. The color was interesting, it was a very pale blonde, but seemed almost grey. The woman was delicate and thin, but very beautiful. Lucas was surprised to find that she was one of the three powerful vampires that he had sensed before.

It didn’t seem like she was walking, but gliding towards the young girl. The woman stood right behind Emily and peered over her shoulder, a look of worry appearing onto her face as she listened to the girl’s sobs.

“Emily darling, please don’t cry,” she said soothingly. The woman reached forward and ran her fingers through Emily’s hair, pulling it gently away from her face. The girl jerked away from her and her crying immediately stopped.

“Don’t touch me,” Emily snarled through clenched teeth. “Just get the hell away from me,” she demanded. The woman sighed sadly and turned to sit on the bench, facing the opposite way the young girl was.

“Emily, even with so much time together you’re still hostile towards me. Isn’t there anything I can do to change that?” the woman asked, reaching out to touch her hair again, but Emily was quick to smack it away. Emily glared at the woman, anger flaring like no other. But the woman was unaffected, pale green eyes looking at the girl patiently.

“Yes, there is something you can do,” Emily said. “Make him stop, make that monster leave Julian alone.” Tears filled her eyes again and she hugged the picture she was holding. “Please…just make him stop.”

The vampire gazed at the girl sympathetically and lifted her hand to place on Emily’s head. When the girl shrank away, but didn’t lash out, the woman began stroking her hair.

“You know I can’t do that, Emily, even if I wanted to. Michael’s intentions may seem cruel and monstrous, but you’ll see.” The woman took Emily’s wrist and coaxed her to lower the picture. Both of them looked at it, the photo containing the images of Emily and her brother. The young girl was hugging Julian from behind and the man was reaching back to ruffle her hair.

“When he’s done, Julian will be a better man than you could ever imagine. He’ll be a brother you can be more than proud of,” the vampire told Emily. The young girl gritted her teeth and raised her head to stare angrily at the woman.

“I’m already proud of him! I always have been! He doesn’t need anything from that monster!” she yelled and the woman was taken back by her fury. Emily forced herself to calm down and shook her head. “Are you really so blind? Do you actually believe he’s trying to help Julian?” she asked in disbelief. The woman sighed and looked away from Emily’s imploring eyes.

“As much as I want you to understand, you’re too young to comprehend the greatness that Michael is trying to achieve.” She looked back at the young girl and smiled softly. “Julian is going to be the key to a better world, believe in that. And once Michael’s dreams become reality we’ll all be one, big, happy family,” the vampire told Emily and leaned over to hug the girl, but Emily abruptly stood up.

The young girl shook with rage as she glared down at the woman. Tears sprung up in her eyes once more, but Emily fought to hold them back.

“You’re just as insane as that monster! He doesn’t care about a better world! He’s using all of us just to spin it into chaos!” Emily then let out a laugh that was between bitterness and a sob. “And you actually think he’d want us to be a family? You’re more helpless than I thought.” After wiping the tears from her eyes Emily shook her head again.

“What makes you think we want you anyways?” she suddenly asked the woman. The vampire stared at her blankly, not knowing how to respond to the question.

“Wha-what do you mean?” she finally stuttered and Emily just stared at her.

“You just don’t get it, do you?” Emily questioned. “Julian and I are the only family that we need. We were all each other ever had!” she shouted. “What makes you think we need you now?” Emily grinded her teeth and turned her back on the vampire. “Julian worked so hard. He did anything to make sure we got by, to make sure we survived. He may have done some things that were horrible and inexcusable…” she whispered the last part as she looked down at the picture once more.

“But I forgave him for every bad thing he did because he’s my brother and I know he did it for a good cause, even if it was only good for us. And after so, so long, we were finally happy, we finally got to live semi normal lives.” Emily then whirled around and stared furiously at the woman.

“Then you and that monster came in and ruined everything!” she yelled. “We didn’t do anything to you and you let that monster do all those horrible things to Julian. Then even that wasn’t enough for you, was it!? After we thought we were rid of you, you came back to bite us in the ass again! Kidnapping me and making Julian run all over the place to kill again and again…” As those last words left Emily’s mouth the tears she had been trying to hold back spilled over and ran down her face.

“And after all that, you really think we could be a family?” she asked. “You must be out of your damn mind! I would rather kill myself than be a ‘family’ with you bitch! I hate you! I fucking hate you and I wish you’d rot in Hell!!!” Emily screamed as loud as her lungs would allow before breaking out in a run, dashing back to the house as she cried.

The woman sat in complete shock, watching the girl disappear into the dwelling. She seemed frozen to the spot, Emily’s words echoing in her ears like a dreadful chant.

Up in his tree, Lucas tried to take in everything he had just heard as he watched Emily run back inside, but one thing struck an amused cord in him. *They really are siblings. She looks like the picture of innocence, but she has her brother’s mouth,* he thought. But some of the things both the females had said made him think. *Julian is definitely not telling me everything that’s going on…though he’s not the only one guilty of that,* he admitted to himself.

Lucas was then brought back when he heard a tearful gasp. He looked back down at the bench to see the woman was still sitting there, but tear streaks ran down her face, staining her delicate skin red.

“S-She hates me. I’ve tried everything and she still hates me,” the vampire sniffled before covering her face with her hands and sobbing into them.

Lucas raised an eyebrow at her words. *Is she really expecting anything more from the girl?* he wondered. *I mean, she has been kidnapped by vampires who are apparently doing some dreadful things to her brother. That certainly validates hate if you ask me.*

Suddenly Lucas’s eyes widened and his nonexistent breath caught in his throat as a powerful vampiric presence washed over him.

“Don’t cry, my darling Melinda,” came the silky voice of a man. Lucas turned his head so fast he could have sworn his neck cracked. Strolling from the house, and towards the woman, was a tall, gorgeous man.

Long, blonde hair swayed behind him, falling just bellow his waist. Sapphire eyes that could rival the clearest blue sky looked out from a fair, delicate face. Even though fine, tailored clothes covered him his powerful body structure was more than evident. To anyone else the man would appear just as his namesake, the archangel Michael, enchanting, strong, and gentle. No one would suspect the vile, cruel monster he really was underneath his beautiful visage that Lucas knew all too well.

A snarl rose in Lucas’s throat and it took all his willpower to force it back down. *Michael,* he thought, the name sounding like acid, even in his head. Such hatred and rage surged through him he thought he’d lunge at the other vampire and attack him right then and there. But luckily his common sense kicked in and prevented him from doing so.

The woman vampire name Melinda looked up at Michael as he approached her. More blood tears spilled down her face as she got up and ran to him, flinging her arms around his neck and burying her face in his chest.

“Oh Michael, I don’t know if I can stand this anymore!” she wailed. “Every time she says those awful things to me it feels like she’s ripping my heart from my chest! She holds so much hatred that the love I have can’t even touch her…” the woman broke down into sobs and Michael held her gently, letting her cry.

“Hush, Melinda, hush,” he whispered soothingly as he stroked her hair. “Emily doesn’t know what she’s saying. Anger always makes us say things we don’t mean and you know she always gets like this whenever I send a new letter to her brother. She just needs some time to settle herself,” he told her. Melinda’s crying slowly came to a stop and she raised her head to look up at the other vampire.

“But, Michael, even then she seems to resent me. What am I to do?” she asked and Michael smiled.

“Don’t try and force it. She’ll come to you eventually, just give her space and time will ebb her rage,” he advised her. “Now no more tears,” Michael said, bending down to lick away her blood tears. Melinda finally smiled when he was done and she placed her hands on Michael’s face.

“You’re right, you’re always right. I’ll just give her time. I want Emily to be happy and Julian too. I want us all to be together and happy,” she said and Michael nodded.

“And we will be, I assure you of that,” he guaranteed, covering one of her hands with his own.

“I want to thank you again for letting me be her caretaker. I won’t let this chance get away and I’ll correct the wrongs I have made,” Melinda vowed.

“I’m sure you will, my darling Melinda, now let us return to the house,” Michael said and when the woman nodded he began escorting her back to the building. But halfway there, Michael suddenly stopped and began looking around. To Lucas’s horror the vampire was scanning the treetops.

Lucas did his best to remain perfectly still and made absolute certainty that his aura was cloaked. He was glad that his heart wasn’t able to beat because he was sure Michael would be able to hear it if it did.

Melinda looked up at Michael curiously as the vampire continued to look around, his gaze, thankfully, passing right over Lucas.

“What’s wrong, Michael?” she asked worriedly. After looking around one more time the man shook his head and looked down at her.

“It’s nothing, I think one of my children is goofing around,” he replied with a reassuring smile that comforted Melinda.

“All right, if you say so,” she said before the two continued on. Michael opened the door for Melinda and once she was inside the man cast another suspicious glance around the backyard before following her in.

Once the door was closed Lucas let his breath out slowly. Even though it was unneeded he couldn’t help but hold it.

“That was far too close,” he whispered, deciding now would be a good time to make his leave. He cast one more look towards the house before disappearing from his perch.

Lucas retraced his steps, taking the same route he had come. But the anger and hatred that had been unleashed just by the very sight of Michael wouldn’t leave him. Coming to a stop near the park he had flown over before, Lucas took deep breaths. Trying to calm down, but it wasn’t working. He hadn’t realized that once the bottled up hatred that he contained was opened such overwhelming feeling would emerge. Lucas had to do something, the animalistic urge to kill and maim heightened second by agonizing second.

Suddenly laughter reached his ears and Lucas smelled the scent of dried blood and earth, the signature smell of another vampire. He followed it until two people came into his sights. One was a man and he was leading a woman into the park and they were both laughing and talking.

Right away Lucas figured out the man was the vampire that had caught his interest. The woman that was following him was just a human, but Lucas didn’t care about her. The vampire was of Michael’s brood and that was all that mattered. As the two disappeared into the darkness of the park Lucas smirked evilly, his ivory fangs lengthening and glinting from the light of the moon.

Silently he followed after the people, blending into the shadows and disappearing. As Lucas closed in on the vampire’s presence and smell he heard an earsplitting scream that was abruptly cut short.

When Lucas reached the source of the noise he saw the male vampire holding the woman’s limp body in his arms as he fed from her. Soon he had his fill and let the woman fall to the ground in a heap.

“I should have mentioned only I was going to be having fun,” the man snickered as he wiped the left over blood from his mouth. The vampire gave the corpse a swift kick and laughed once more before turning and making his leave. That was when Lucas attacked.

Everything happened so fast, the male vampire didn’t register what was happening until he found himself pinned against a tree with Lucas’s hand around his throat.

“What the fu-ugk!” the vampire was cut off as Lucas tightened his grip painfully.

“What are they teaching young bloodlings these days?” Lucas asked. “Haven’t you ever heard of a quiet killing?” The young vampire struggled against Lucas, but the man had an iron grip on him.

“Wh-who’re…you?” he choked out, clawing at the older vampire’s hand.

“I’m sorry, what was that?” Lucas asked as he loosened his grip just a bit. The vampire coughed harshly now that his throat wasn’t being crushed.

“Who the fuck are you?” the vampire demanded, glaring at Lucas. “I’ve never seen you around here before and what the hell do you think you’re doing?” He continued to struggle as Lucas simply held him to the tree.

“That is of no concern of yours, but what should have you worried is that my bloodlust has been awakened and you were unfortunate enough to have crossed my path,” Lucas snarled and the younger vampire’s eyes widened when his fangs extended.

“Whoa! Hold up! There are plenty of humans around that you can go snack on!” the man yelled and frantically kicked at the other.

“True, but you see human blood is not what I hunger for this night!” Lucas told him. With his other hand he viciously grabbed a handful of the young vampire’s hair and pulled him forward. Lucas twisted the man around until the vampires back was pressed against his chest and he could get his now free arm around him to hold him still.

“Get off of me you crazy fucker!” the young vampire shouted and tried to twist free, but stopped when the hand that was still in his hair pulled painfully tight, exposing his throat. “Ah! B-Bastard, do you have any idea who my sire is? He’s the great Michael and he will so fuck you up if you hurt me,” he threatened and Lucas let out a cruel laugh.

“The great Michael? Is that what he’s calling himself now? But I assure you I do know him, very well in fact, and you have Michael to thank for the position you’re in now,” he said icily. The young vampire stiffened when he felt Lucas drag his fangs down his neck, two red scratches appearing on the skin and pinpricks of blood forming.

“W-Wait! If you kill me Michael is going to feel it and he’ll be here in nothing flat then you’ll be sorry,” he warned.

“I know the link a sire and a fledgling share, thank you very much,” Lucas remarked before licking up the young vampire’s neck, collecting the small red droplets on his tongue. He felt his captive shiver against him and he smirked against the healed skin.

“So you’re trying to pick a fight with Michael then?” the vampire asked, fear rising in his voice.

“No, well, not just yet,” Lucas replied casually.

“Then you’re going to risk him coming here and kicking your ass?” the young vampire inquired and Lucas just laughed.

“No, my dear boy, for you see,” Lucas raised his head until his mouth was against the other man’s ear, “Michael isn’t going to have any idea that your dead,” he whispered tauntingly and the young vampire’s eyes widened.

“Wha-what do you mean?” he stuttered. He then yelped when Lucas tugged his hair mercilessly.

“You’re far too young to even comprehend the full extent of our kinds’ powers,” he hissed in the other’s ear.

“What are you going to do?” the vampire asked, his voice now trembling.

“You’ll see,” Lucas replied before closing his eyes. The young vampire’s eyes darted around when a low hum filled the air. Suddenly black diamond shapes with blue circles in the center of them began appearing around the two vampires.

The objects flew in different directions and attached themselves to the surrounding trees. The humming got louder as the blue circles started to glow and blue sparks shot out from them and they all connected together to form a kind of cage around the men.

“Wha-what the hell is this!?” the young vampire exclaimed and Lucas chuckled.

“This would be called a barrier, young one,” he told him. “Only this isn’t just any kind of barrier, mind you. This is a very special kind that acts as a sort of sever,” Lucas explained.

“S-Sever?” the young vampire repeated and the other nodded.

“Yes, it cuts off any form of detection of us from the outside world. If someone were trying to locate us by sense we would appear nonexistent. So do you know what that means?” he asked and the young vampire shook his head as much as Lucas’s grip allowed. Lucas smirked and licked the side of one of his fangs.

“It means that if you die in here, no one would know. Not even your great sire,” he sneered and his captive gasped and immediately began to struggle.

“Get off me damn it! I haven’t done anything to you! If you have a beef with Michael don’t take it out on me!” he practically screeched then cried out as Lucas pulled on his hair so hard, his whole fistful almost ripped out.

“I will take it out on you because you don’t deserve the vampiric blood that is flowing through your veins!!!” Lucas snarled angrily. “And I am going to relieve it from your worthless body!” With that the older vampire wasted no time and savagely tore into the younger one’s throat.

A short scream filled the air before blood splattered everywhere, painting the ground and trees crimson. Tearing and ripping of flesh was all that was heard followed by one last weak cry. The young vampire’s mutilated body fell to the ground with a sickening thunk.

In his hand, Lucas held the vampire’s bloody, dead heart and with one squeeze he squished it. The remains of the organ slipped from his fist and fell to the blood soaked ground. Blue eyes that were as cold as ice stared at the dead vampire before they closed.

The crimson liquid that covered the area trembled before flowing towards Lucas. The red essence that drenched him started being absorbed into the vampire and soon all traces of blood were gone, the area totally clean and undisturbed.

“Now this blood will be purified from being given so freely to another that used it so carelessly,” Lucas whispered as he opened his eyes. The vampire looked down at the two corpses on the ground, one of the woman and one of the vampire he had killed. Lucas sighed in relief, he was now fully content, his anger and rage soothed and tamed.

The blue sparks connecting the black seals faded away and one by one they started to disappear. The humming ceased and a deafening silence replaced it.

The vampire turned on his heel and began to walk away, leaving the bodies where they were. They would most likely be found soon or even the next day. The vampire would burn away with the rising sun, but Lucas hoped Michael saw the corpse before that happened. Lucas wanted it to be a warning to the other vampire that soon he would join his fledgling in a death that was long deserved.

Lucas walked further and further into the forest, vanishing into the darkness. That night people witnessed a colony of bats flying over the town before they disappeared into the endless night sky.

=========================== Ch. 5 End

……I can’t believe how characters can surprise even their creators. When I made Lucas I thought he was a very nice, polite, and, all be it, perverted vampire, but I had no idea he could go totally ballistic like he did. Vampire nature I guess. So things are getting curiouser and curiouser. Michael has appeared as have Emily and a new character. Emily and Melinda sure said some odd things. What are Michael’s actual plans? Why does he need Julian to accomplish them? You’ll just have to come back and see what happens. I hope you enjoyed. Please review and if you have any suggestions on how I can improve, I’m all ears!
